389: Chapter 246 Peach Blossom Crossing_2 389: Chapter 246 Peach Blossom Crossing_2 Ran Yan’s face quietly blossod into a smile, “The husband I want doesn’t actually need to do much for , as long as he is always there.”

Like a lighthouse on the vast sea in the night, or the North Star seen when lost in the wilderness, lighting the way for her as she floundered in the darkness.

Just by looking up, she could see it and not feel so lonely and lost.

Even if Xiao Song was montarily enthusiastic, or had ulterior motives, if things did not go well in the future and they went their separate ways, she wasn’t soone who could pick up but not put down.

Ran Yan made such a choice because of the life she had always lived: from her childhood, her parents were always busy and away, and she, being so young, could only stay at her maternal grandfather’s house for a while and then at her paternal grandfather’s, she hustled between cities for work, performing autopsies in one city in the morning and another in the evening, all of which she could accept.

However, after the successive deaths of her grandfathers, every ti she returned to her hotown exhausted, she didn’t even know where to go.

Occasionally, during such tis, she would fantasize about having a husband in the city, soone she could simply tell, “I’m ho.”

Unfortunately, everyone she t through matchmaking would shy away upon hearing she was a forensic doctor; those who could handle it thought her poker face was too serious, lacking femininity.

Perhaps that’s why, when Xiao Song appeared before her, she was unconsciously drawn to him.

Thus, Ran Yan was willing to give him a chance, and wanted to give herself one too.

“Marrying into the Xiao family will inevitably bring many problems, the first being your identity…” After hearing Ran Yan’s words, Ran Yunsheng felt much relieved, yet as a brother, he still needed to remind her of so things.

Ran Yan smiled and said, “Life would be too dull if it had no challenges, wouldn’t it?”

Ran Yunsheng was stunned for a mont before he realized that Ran Yan was actually trying to persuade him to see things more openly with all her sharing.

When he understood, she directly said, “Yunsheng, deep affection and shallow fate is nobody’s fault; everyone must be accountable for their actions, and everyone has the right to choose.”

“Ah Yan…

You see things more clearly than I do.” Ran Yunsheng lowered his eyelids.

More clearly?

Ran Yan chuckled, she just knew a bit of psychology and spoke without feeling the pain herself.

Reasoning is one thing, emotion another.

No matter how much he understood, the wounds in Ran Yunsheng’s heart wouldn’t be eroded away.

After talking for a while, Ran Yunsheng grew a bit exhausted.

Ran Yan let Er Dong attend to him and administer his dicine, then left his residences.

By then, all the courtyard lights were on, and occasionally a maid passed by on the corridor, stepping aside and bowing to her upon seeing Ran Yan.

The oppressive black cloud in the sky finally started to drift and it began to snow.

When everyone had gone to sleep, Ran Yan draped a cloak over herself, took a lantern, and sat cross-legged in the corridor.

After sitting quietly for a long ti, she softly said, “You’re here, aren’t you?”

The response was the howling wind and silently falling snowflakes from the alley.

“Thank you for the dicine you sent,” Ran Yan continued speaking to herself.

Last ti, her autopsy for Su Fu caught Li Ke’s attention, so this ti Li Ke captured her to lure Su Fu into a trap.

He must fear such incidents recurring, hence his nightly vigils outside the Ran residence, otherwise he wouldn’t have known so quickly about Ran Yunsheng coughing up blood and fainting.

No one answered, and after sitting a while longer, Ran Yan put on her wooden clogs, pulled out a long flute from her sleeve, and creaking through the snow, she walked to the center of the courtyard and placed the flute on the ground.

“The umbrella has been taken by Li Ke, leaving only this item,” Ran Yan said, then turned and walked back to the house.

The silence as before, and as she reached the porch, she looked back and saw a figure in black clothes who had appeared in the courtyard at so point, bending over to pick up the long flute.

The heavy snow made the black clothes particularly noticeable.

Ran Yan watched him and smiled quietly.

Su Fu, still as stunningly handso as ever, softened his frosty gaze slightly as they looked at each other; after a mont, he spoke, “Congratulations on finding a good partner.”

His cold voice matched well with the snowy weather, devoid of particular joy nor displeasure, rely stating sothing very ordinary with a detached tone.

“It’s a cold night,” Ran Yan paused and then said, “Thank you.”

Su Fu slightly curved his lips, tucked the flute into his sleeve, and turned to leave.

The cold wind made her eyes sting, Ran Yan squinted as she watched Su Fu’s black figure disappear into the vast snowy night, then she too returned inside.

During her ti at the dical College, Ran Yan had also been interested in two people.

She couldn’t rember what her feelings were like back then; the relationships were light, and letting go was just as breezy.

Thinking about Qin Yunlin persistently trying every way to impress and attract a police captain, Ran Yan felt envious.

Ran Yan asked: “Yunlin, am I too heartless?”

Qin Yunli laughed: “Not heartless, just that the right person hasn’t appeared yet.

So people live a bland life, never eting their soulmate, but you will eventually et yours.”

Why?

Because even fate won’t let any miscreant escape!

There will always be soone to take you ho, so you don’t go around scaring kids.

Hey, speaking of scaring kids, you must have scared that mother silly too, haha!

Ran Yan lay on the bed, unable to help but laugh.

This incident had its reasons; Ran Yan was particularly inept at interacting with children.

Once, at Qin Yunlin’s house, she encountered her cousin visiting with her four-year-old son.

Seeing Ran Yan too stiff, Qin Yunlin wanted her to relax and play with the child, urging Ran Yan to join in.

Trying to make nice, after much effort, Ran Yan blurted out: “This child’s heart is beating so lively, how cute!”

The scene that followed…

Qin’s mother almost cut her finger while slicing fruit.

Then Qin Yunlin lied saying Ran Yan specialized in heart diseases and had a professional habit, which sowhat cald the pallid-faced mother.
