Chapter 89: The Traveler
After leaving the Hers Workshop, the two of them thought about it and finally returned to The Golden Stag Hotel to stay for another night.
Anyway, the ten pounds Charles Michel had given them hadn't been spent yet.
It could be considered making the most of it.
The next day, after having breakfast, the two of them eagerly set off for the Hers Workshop.
As soon as they arrived at the entrance, they saw Hestia, dressed in a trench coat, standing there, holding a small suitcase in her hand.
At this mont, the Creator was looking at the pocket watch in her hand while holding a cigarette in her mouth.
“You've arrived quite on ti, little girls.”
Hestia put away her pocket watch and blew a smoke ring.
“Good morning, Lady Hestia.”
l greeted her politely, “Are we leaving now?”
“Mm, let's go to the train station first—take this.”
Hestia threw her suitcase to l.
Seeing this, l scrambled to catch it.
Just as she was about to place the suitcase on the ground, she suddenly heard Hestia's voice from ahead.
“The things inside are very expensive, and there's a set of alchemy matrix. It wouldn't be good if it got damaged.”
“!”
Hearing this, the girl's movents froze instantly, and she then silently hugged the suitcase in her arms, holding it tighter and tighter.
Seeing this, Charlotte walked forward, took the suitcase from l's hands, and then handed her own walking stick to her.
“Let take it, Miss lantha—you can just hold this for .”
Charlotte said with a smile.
“As a knight, how can I let the princess do this kind of thing?”
“Charlotte....”
“While I'd hate to interrupt your sweet mont, can we talk while we walk, you two?”
Hestia, who was walking ahead, suddenly turned her head, “Any later, and we'll have to wait for the next tram.”
“Co... coming!”
l and Charlotte quickly caught up with Hestia.
The three of them stood on the platform, waiting for the train to arrive.
“By the way, where are we going next?”
l asked.
“To take a ride.”
Hestia said, exhaling a puff of smoke.
“Of course I know we're going to take a ride....”
l muttered, “I'm asking where our destination is.”
“It is to take a ride.”
Hestia glanced at l, then revealed a mysterious smile.
“You'll know when we get there, little girl.”
With a long whistle, the train slowly pulled into the station.
Hestia extinguished the cigarette in her mouth, then stepped into the carriage, with l and Charlotte following closely behind.
After the three found their seats, Hestia took out two golden badges from her pocket.
“One for each of you, pin it on your collar.”
“What is this?”
Charlotte asked curiously, picking up a badge to examine it closely.
The badge didn't look special, with a pure gold base and a pattern of a shattered mirror pieced together with athyst.
This was the insignia of 【The Void】.
“This is the ticket.”
Hestia smiled.
“Ticket....?”
l examined the badge in her hand.
The badge was only about the size of the joint of her little finger.
But the details of the entire badge were impeccable, as if it ca from the hands of the most ticulous craftsman in the world.
l carefully pinned the badge to her collar.
The train slowly started, and the carriage was filled with the roar of the steam engine.
Through the window, l looked at the street scenes around her, her heart filled with anticipation for the mysterious journey ahead.
“While we still have so ti before we reach the station, let tell you about our subsequent destinations.”
Hestia said, then cleared her throat.
“We need to collect a total of three spiritual materials. These three materials correspond to—the heart, the skeleton, and the brain. As for the other materials, I went through my inventory last night and have so stock, more or less, but we don't have these three. So, our first stop is to obtain the heart. During this process, considering you are a Shepherd of 【Knowledge】, I will teach you so alchemy depending on the situation. How much you can learn depends on your own fortune, this is just an aside.”
After a pause, Hestia said mysteriously again: “But if you really are a good seedling, then maybe I'll give you a task. Don't worry, it's definitely not difficult. If I really give you that task, it ans that with your abilities at that ti, you will definitely be able to do it.”
“What task?”
l asked.
“I won't tell you yet.”
Hestia smiled, “We'll talk about it after you et my requirents.”
As ti passed, the train gradually reached its destination.
“Alright,” Hestia stood up, “let's go, it's ti to get off.”
l and Charlotte got up one after another, followed Hestia out of the train, and then arrived at Ireland Station.
“I just left here two days ago,” l said, looking at the huge station.
“I can't believe I'm leaving now.”
“That's how life is.”
Hestia took out a cigarette and lit it for herself.
“People never cherish the present, they always chase after things that are far away. When winter cos, they long for sumr, but when sumr arrives, they start looking forward to winter again. So people never tire of traveling, always searching for a place where it's spring all year round.”
The three walked into the station, and what greeted them was a bustling crowd.
Charlotte looked around curiously, like a curious baby, finding everything in the station novel.
And when she ca back to her senses, she found that she seed to have been separated from l and Hestia.
“Miss lantha, Miss lantha?”
Charlotte called l's na in the crowd.
Just then, a figure suddenly bumped into Charlotte.
“Sorry.”
After steadying herself, Charlotte apologized to the coffee-colored curly-haired girl she had accidentally bumped into.
“It's alright,” the coffee-colored curly-haired girl shook her head gently, “there are a lot of people at the station, rember to watch where you're going.”
“Mm.”
Charlotte nodded slightly, so the other person didn't say much more and walked out of the station in the opposite direction from Charlotte.
The girl stood there, watching the other person leave.
Suddenly, she felt her hand being grabbed.
“Finally found you.”
Relying on the connection between a Shepherd and her Flock, l pushed through the crowded people, grabbed Charlotte's hand, and then breathed a sigh of relief.
“Sorry.... Miss lantha.”
“Don't mind it.”
l smiled gently, then pulled Charlotte through the crowd again to a remote platform.
There were only a few people on the platform, each standing far apart from the others, seemingly not knowing each other.
If it weren't for Hestia leading the way, l and Charlotte would never have noticed that this station had such a platform.
And in front of the platform, a strange train was quietly parked there.
“What... what kind of train is this?”
Charlotte asked in confusion, her eyes fixed on the strangely shaped carriage.
“Is this the train we're going to take?”
l looked at Hestia.
Hearing this, Hestia just smiled mysteriously.
“If you're so curious, why don't you go up and see for yourself?”
