Chapter 34: Riot

Sunlight stread through the floor-to-ceiling window onto the tabletop, casting a layer of warm jade color on the snow-white tablecloth.

Vilnia Randell sat across from l, her hands folded on the table, her gaze gently fixed on her.

At this mont, a female waitress in a uniform walked over elegantly and handed them two exquisite nus.

"I suggest you try this," Vilnia Randell said, opening the nu and pointing to a page.

l's gaze followed her movent.

She subconsciously spoke: "Lover's... Sigh?"

"This is the latest dessert our owner has developed."

The waitress explained at the right ti, pointing to the exquisite model displayed by the window.

The pink mousse surface was dotted with gold leaf, surrounded by fresh raspberries and mint leaves, and topped with a sugar-frosted rose.

It looked breathtakingly beautiful.

"The inspiration for this dessert cos from a story about first love," Vilnia Randell's voice was gentle, as if she were confiding a secret.

"The pink of the mousse represents a shy heart, the sweet and sour taste of the raspberries symbolizes the flavor of love, and that sugar-frosted rose....”

She suddenly paused, her finger gently brushing the back of l's hand.

"Is like a subtle confession."

l suddenly felt as if her heart had skipped a beat.

There was a certain profound aning in Vilnia Randell's eyes.

Her pair of coffee-colored eyes seed to be able to see through her heart.

“Clink—”

The crisp sound of silver-plated cutlery clinking against a porcelain plate broke the subtle atmosphere.

The waitress brought two cups of black tea and placed them in front of the two of them.

The aroma of the tea filled the air.

"You can take your ti to choose. Just call or soone else to order if you need to."

The waitress said, then smiled at the two of them and tactfully retreated to the side.

"Black tea can cut the richness."

Vilnia Randell said, pushing one of the cups toward l.

"It's still a little hot now. You can drink it with your dessert later.”

As she said this, her gaze was scorching, with a hint of imperceptible expectation.

Sunlight passed through her slightly curled long hair, casting tiny spots of light on her exquisite face, making her look as if she were bathed in a golden halo.

In the end, l still did not order the Lover's Sigh.

After all, the price was right there.

Even though Vilnia Randell had repeatedly emphasized that she was not short on money, under l's firm insistence, they ultimately settled for so desserts with more moderate prices.

Looking at the raspberry pudding and lemon tart on the table, Vilnia Randell couldn't help but let out a soft sigh, seemingly a little disappointed.

She reached for her teacup, elegantly took a sip of the black tea, and then gently put it down.

Then, as if she had a new idea, the corner of her mouth suddenly lifted.

"l, this almond cake is delicious. Do you want to try so?"

Vilnia Randell put down her teacup, her slender finger gently brushing the rim of the cup.

The silver-plated teaspoon lightly tapped the edge of the porcelain cup, making a crisp sound.

She said, pushing her dessert to the center of the table.

Hearing this, l was stunned for a mont, then nodded.

"Then I'll try it...."

l was about to hand over her fork to scoop a piece from the cake, but Vilnia Randell had already held her fork out to her.

"No need. I'll just feed you."

Vilnia Randell's voice carried a hint of enticent and expectation.

“Close your eyes.”

l hesitated for a mont, but under Vilnia Randell's expectant gaze, she slowly closed her eyes.

The surrounding noise seed to be instantly isolated, leaving only Vilnia Randell's gentle breathing.

A fresh almond aroma gradually approached, followed by the cool touch of tal cutlery against her lips.

l opened her mouth, and the silky cream instantly lted in her mouth.

The slight bitterness of the almond and the sweetness of the cream blended together perfectly.

"How is it?"

Vilnia Randell's voice sounded in l's ear.

“Is it delicious?”

l slowly looked up.

Vilnia Randell was propping her chin up with one hand, watching her.

The teaspoon was still suspended in the air, with a little bit of milky white cream on its tip.

"Ah, the corner of your mouth—don't move, I'll get it.”

Vilnia Randell suddenly leaned forward, her slender finger gently brushing the corner of l's lips, wiping away that sar of creamy white.

Then she withdrew her finger, casually putting it into her mouth and lightly licking it clean.

“Clang—”

The sound of cutlery dropping not far away broke the ambiguous atmosphere.

Only then did l realize that she had been holding her breath.

"Next, it's your turn to feed ."

Vilnia Randell stared at the spoon in l's hand, a cunning glint in her eyes.

"I also want to taste what the raspberry pudding tastes like."

The sunlight still shone gently between the two of them.

The air was filled with the aroma of desserts.

l felt her heart rate getting faster and faster, as if it was about to jump out of her chest.

Just as she picked up the teaspoon and was about to scoop out a piece of pudding, a piercing scream made l's hand tremble.

l subconsciously looked toward the source of the sound.

She saw a female custor not far away pointing at the window in horror, her face as pale as paper.

“Bang!”

A sharp, tallic grinding sound tore through the quiet of the dessert shop.

The window glass suddenly shattered into a spiderweb-like pattern.

The teaspoon slipped from l's fingers, making a crisp clinking sound on the porcelain plate.

The spreading raspberry jam blurred into blood-like red stains on the snow-white tablecloth.

The next mont, the loud sound of shattering glass instantly drowned out the entire dessert shop.

Countless tiny shards of glass poured down like hail, glinting dangerously in the sunlight.

Screams and the sounds of tables and chairs falling down rose and fell.

Chaos instantly enveloped the entire space.

"l, get down!"

Vilnia Randell got up almost at the sa ti, tackling l to the ground and shielding her.

Through the crook of Vilnia Randell's arm, l saw three figures in black wearing bird-beak masks leap into the shop from the shattered window.

They were holding syringes made of brass.

A pitch-black liquid dripped from the needles, corroding the snow-white porcelain tiles and leaving a trail of blue smoke.

The gazes of those people searched the shop, then fell in unison on l and Vilnia Randell.

"We found the Container, and the Baptized.”

The bird-beak masked person in the lead said.

"You two go deal with The Baptized. I'll go retrieve the Container.”

The other two wasted no ti and imdiately rushed forward toward Vilnia Randell.

Seeing this, Vilnia Randell's eyes narrowed.

She then pushed l away.

"l, listen to . Run as fast as you can in a mont, do you hear ?"

She turned her head to speak to l.

Then, without waiting for l to react, Vilnia Randell turned back and chanted a spell.

The next mont, the shadows around them suddenly ca to life.

Countless shadows converged under Vilnia Randell's control, then stood upright, like a thick black cloth, blocking the three people's line of sight.

Shadow Trick!

"Now, l, run!"
