"Oh? Why don't you take a guess then?" the faker urged, amused by Envy's spot-on analysis.
"Hm…" Envy pondered for a mont, scrutinizing the faker from head to toe. Her gaze shifted with a hint of disdain and mockery, visibly agitating the faker.
"Oi! Why are you looking at like that!?" the faker demanded in a threatening tone.
Envy replied with a sly smile, "Oh, it's nothing. It just dawned on who you really are. Judging from your clothes and how you dress, that golden hue as if afraid that people looking at you wouldn't notice that you are wealthy, and this uncouth and uncivilized manner, just like a back-alley hooligan. Yet, you persist in maintaining the pitiful attempt at keeping the decorum of a rich aristocrat while pretending that you are always in control of the situation."
As Envy spoke, her words, though polite, were cutting, akin to blades slicing through Mammon's ears. Her tone was grating and poisonous, enough to make Mammon want to roar and slap that mouth right now.
"And lastly, the obsession, the unscrupulous desire, and the short-sightedness to get into the mortal world without caring for consequences. The demon that has all of these qualities should be only one. Lord Mammon, it should only be you, since Satan wouldn't act like he is in control despite possessing a feeble power like yours." Envy finished her grating words, pushing Mammon dangerously close to losing his temper.
"B*tch! Your mouth is still as venomous as ever! I'll kill you, I'll kill you for sure, you b*tch!" Mammon grudgingly threatened.
This wasn't the first encounter between Mammon and Envy; they had crossed paths nurous tis dating back to the Middle Ages. Every confrontation, whether involving wit or magical prowess, ended in Mammon's miserable defeat. Two of Mammon's most humiliating losses against Envy occurred during the Renaissance—the dici Bank bankruptcy—and the closure of the East India Company in the Colonial era.
"See? Uncouth and uncivilized, just as I said. You will never grasp the true decorum of an aristocrat, Lord Mammon. It's not just because the aspect of your sins makes it hard for you, but it's because of your very being that will always lead to your defeat against ." Envy poured more oil onto the fire, accompanied by a satisfied laugh at the reunion with her old nesis who consistently lost to her.
"Die!" Mammon roared, lunging at Envy in anger.
Seeing her adversary lunged at her, Envy quickly retreated back, but the speed of the faker seems to be a level faster than Envy, he was quickly closing in, But before he could even touch Envy a light shone from the ground where Envy was standing on and myriad of chain appear out of the floor that now was shone bright with magical runes and formula.
The chains swiftly bound the faker's body, securing it to the deck floor. The power of the chain compelled the faker's body downward, immobilizing it. Although the body wasn't lying flat on the ground, the spell successfully halted its movent. There was little room for the faker to resist the restraining spell.
"Heh! The sa old trick. Aren't you bored!? Even though I'm in the body of a human, don't you rember that this is your body, and the power of Leviathan still resides within this body, and I can control it." Mammon mocked Envy, who had just used a restraining spell to bind him before exerting his strength and tapping into the power reserves within the body, utilizing Leviathan's power.
The faker, using both his and Leviathan's strength, attempted to shatter the chain but encountered extre resistance. The faker heard the strain and cracking sounds of the chain, with one of the smaller ones snapping followed by the larger ones.
Clank! Snap! Clank!
The chains began to snap one by one. At this ti, Mammon laughed out loud, releasing all of his pent-up frustration. "HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank! Clank!
In the end, all of the chains snapped, freeing Mammon.
"Impossible!" Envy uttered, her face showing horror and fear, while Mammon's face was exhilarated, reveling in the mont of triumph. The power of Leviathan surged to the highest degree, but before Mammon could do anything more, Envy let out a cunning smile.
"Just kidding." Envy teased.
At this mont, the power from the ruins surged once again, and a new set of chains erged from the ground. This ti, the power was even stronger than before.
"What!?" Mammon exclaid, attempting to snap the chains again. However, this ti, he found his strength being sapped out of his body through the chains.
The chains bound Mammon's body and pulled him to the ground, leaving him without any room for movent.
"Ahhh…" Envy sighed in satisfaction. "It's always the trap that I use to deal with you. To think that, after more than a hundred years, your stupidity still amazes , falling into my trap every ti. It's truly eye-opening. Your consistent gullibility makes admire this aspect of yours, Lord Mammon," said Envy with a mocking smile.
The chains tightly bound Mammon, and with each passing mont, his strength continued to drain away. A venomous glare from Mammon t Envy, but he was powerless to retaliate.
"What!? What happened? The Leviathan should be the strongest of all demons, and this is in the midst of the ocean! His power should be unrivaled!!" Mammon roared in frustration, unable to comprehend why the mighty demon of the sea was rendered so weak, with its strength continuously sapped from its body.
Envy, at this mont, smiled, feigning pity for Mammon. "He is indeed unrivaled in the sea, Lord Mammon," Envy concurred.
"But why!?" Mammon was eager to know, hoping that extracting this information might offer a chance to turn the tide.
Envy's smile grew sweeter, concealing a hint of sadism, as if savoring the sight of her favored toy. "My dear Lord Mammon, how long do you think I've lived with Leviathan's power? It's not just a hundred years; it's more than a thousand years, cursed by its power and utilizing its blessings. Did you truly believe I wouldn't prepare anything in case its power went wild and sought to take over my body!?... You're a demon, but why are you so gullible?" Envy's voice exuded satisfaction, further stoking Mammon's anger, yet he remained powerless.
"Ah, I like it when soone can't stand but can't do anything about it," Envy uttered with a sense of enjoynt.
This wasn't the first ti that Mammon had fallen into Envy's trap. Many tis, when he lost to Envy in wit, he resorted to violence, hoping to use his power to suppress her. However, every ti he chose this path, he fell into her trap. The tactics varied each ti, whether feigning weakness or employing a straightforward bait.
There was a ti during the colonial era when Envy crafted a cunning rumor about a legendary pirate treasure buried on a specific island. The rumor suggested that this treasure possessed the power to command the sea and control the oceans. Mammon saw an opportunity to establish his empire, free from the constraints of the Vatican, where he could elevate himself to the status of a god.
Throughout this venture, Mammon faced nurous challenges, encountering twists and turns that depleted his resources and manpower. Against the odds, he managed to locate the treasure before Envy, holding in his hands the coveted Poseidon Trident. With this artifact, he could command the sea, and every creature within it beca subservient to his will.
However, Mammon's triumph was short-lived. Unbeknownst to him, Envy had ticulously set a trap on that island, using the fabricated rumors to deceive him into excavating the treasure for her. Once Mammon celebrated his apparent victory over Envy, the portal between the Olympian realm and the mortal world manifested through the Poseidon Trident, serving as a conduit.
To Mammon's horror, both Zeus and Poseidon erged from the portal, swiftly overpowering him and reclaiming the Trident. Envy then arrived, destroying the host Mammon used to reside in the mortal world and imprisoning him in his own realm for hundreds of years.
Reflecting on that mont, Mammon harbored a burning desire to tear the cunning fox, Envy, to pieces for orchestrating his downfall.
Mammon believed that this ti he could seize control of Envy's body, freeing himself from fear and limitations. Oh, how wrong he was.
Unbeknownst to Envy, at this mont, Daniel had already cleared the deck of those mages attempting to obstruct him. The scene where Envy was delighting in tornting Mammon was fully witnessed by him. Despite the distance being a bit far, his enhanced hearing, powered by the Grand Hunter card, allowed him to clearly discern the content of their conversation.
He was aware that people have two sides to their personalities, but he never expected the other side of Envy to be this... perverse.
"Holy... Shit..." Daniel was stunned, able to utter only a single word in response.
