The floor above Dr. Yang’s office was for the hospitalized patients, as well as for those who needed temporary treatnt such as receiving tranquilizer drips - like , supposedly.

I notified Shin that Dr. Yang recomnded to receive the injection via drips for an hour to get much needed rest after living under constant anxiety for a prolonged period of ti recently. Shin simply replied with ’OK’ - both a surprise and a relief. Perhaps we really were in much safer place now than before. Except that we weren’t, now that I knew Detective Choi was alive.

I found a room where Detective Choi was said to be waiting for and knocked on the door. He said ’co in’ and I hesitated for a mont before entering. I was afraid of the confrontation with the man who knew everything now - the man who could incriminate Miho and .

But my instinct told that I had to see him. Theoretically, I could have - or perhaps should have - rushed to Shin and get out of this place as soon as possible, and disappear with Miho to a place where nobody - including Detective Choi - would never find us again.

Sothing bothered though.

My growing suspicion of Shin made wonder if Miho and I could rely on him forever to keep us safe. As much as Miho was an invincible force of nature, it was Shin’s practical arrangent and network of safe houses that kept us away from any danger. He managed Miho’s money, Juho’s life, and everything that was needed for us to sustain life. If we were to be free, we had to not only get away from police, but also from Shin. That I was sure of.

"Good to see that you are well, Ms. Han," Detective Choi smiled as he saw enter.

"Good to see that... you are well too, Detective."

What a thing to say for soone who collaborated with the woman who shot him.

"The vest saved , luckily. Although it did hurt. A lot. A broken rib punctured my lungs and I bled a lot, but hey, I’m alive - I can’t really complain, right? Haha."

He spared from having to shalessly ask how he was alive at all.

What a considerate man.

"I’m glad to hear."

"And I’m glad you trusted enough to co see ."

The Detective didn’t sound sarcastic. Neither did he look smug. He seed there was sothing of a genuine concern he wanted to share with , even after everything that happened.

"I suppose there is sothing you wanted to talk to ," I didn’t want to stick around here for too long. Seeing him alive lifted the burden of guilt off my shoulders sowhat, but I didn’t exactly co here to turn myself in.

"Ms. Han," He spoke calmly, then studied my face.

I didn’t know what kind of expression I should be making, and even if I knew, I didn’t think I could pull that off.

Everything was laid bare. There was nothing more to hide.

"I didn’t ask you to co to get you in trouble. Although, technically, I should - really."

"I don’t understand what reasons you may have, but thank you very much."

"And your friend. She really is sothing, isn’t she? I’ve never seen anything like that in my life."

I said nothing.

"But that’s beside the point. I asked you to co because I wanted to show you this."

With that, he took out a folder from his briefcase and placed it on the table. It looked rather thick and old.

"What is it?"

"Internal record about Senior Shin," the Detective spoke.

"About Shin? ’Internal’ record...?"

"Please take a look."

Choi got up from his seat with a bit of struggle, and walked over to the window. Looking out at the city below.

I carefully picked up the folder as if it could hurt . The rough texture of the thick cardboard cover, its weight, the edges of the docunts that stuck out - all of this told that there would be no going back once I opened it.

Reading my hesitation without even looking at , the Detective reassured.

"You may read it, close it, and just leave. Nobody will pursue you today. I promise."

"Why... are you doing this?"

"But if you have any questions after seeing what’s inside, you can ask any questions. I will answer them."

Was I strong enough to face the truth and walk away from it?

Or was this a part of a plan to trap in and lure to bring Miho and Shin to him?

Nevertheless, I knew - I just knew that Miho and I couldn’t run away with loose ends. We needed closure, and this could be the thread that lead to it.

I finally opened the folder.

The very first page of it sent a jolt of shock all over my body, starting with a thumping bang on my head that reverberated down my spine all the way to my toes.

"Shin... is from police?"

"Please read on."

I then read through the records. My eyes widened, my heart skipped, my jaws dropped.

After about fifteen minutes of flicking through, buried in the middle of the folder, I saw a photograph of a girl - a dead girl - lying on floor ground.

She was stabbed in the chest. There was pool of blood under her. It was a scene of a cri - a girl, murdered in her own house.

Both parents missing - never found.

Two more siblings in the family, also missing - a girl and her younger brother.

The girl was last sighted at the victim’s funeral, only to disappear from the face of the Earth later.

My eyes flooded with tears as I touched the photo of the missing girl’s face.

What a pretty girl. Young and innocent.

Smiling happily, with more than a hint of cheekiness in her eyes.

The girl who lost everything, the girl that was never found again.

My tigress, my lover, my everything.

I was looking at the picture of Miho.
