Captain Nimotin was worried.
As her mind cooled, the joy of hunting a Beta Rank elite also faded away.
Suddenly, a thought arose in her heart.
’If Li Aozi could tear apart that Biochemist from Beta Rank, his strength must be no weaker than the Beta Rank, right?’
Her heart skipped a beat.
’What about ?’
’I just shot him twice and chased after him.’
Agent Yawen helped her to get up, and she clearly noticed that Captain Nimotin’s hands were trembling.
’I definitely don’t have the ability to kill the Infant Eater; if he can kill it, then does that an he could kill too—’
Clack.
Footsteps approached, and Agent Yawen hesitated before saying,
"Li Aozi?"
’Damn it, no!’
Captain Nimotin was on the verge of tears. Now, with a broken leg, she was practically useless for an "Assassin", a profession that relied on high mobility.
She looked up at Li Aozi, and wishing she hadn’t, she broke into a cold sweat, her eyelids twitching twice.
Li Aozi was still the sa Li Aozi, accompanied by a petite young girl, but they both exuded an aura that kept others at bay, especially Li Aozi, with his chin retracted and the corners of his eyes raised, the Scavenger’s coat untouched by the rain, his murderous aura so tangible it was oppressive.
"It’s six thirty, Frost Plating ti—Good morning, Captain Nimotin, Agent Yawen. I must say, it has been a pleasant collaboration."
When Li Aozi spoke, his tone was still friendly, but it made Nimotin feel even more suffocated—the very composure underscored how little Li Aozi regarded her.
"...Your strength is comndable."
With her subordinates watching, Nimotin didn’t want to lose face and feigned calmness:
"The Red Arrow Empire must have invested a lot in nurturing a talent like you—Although it’s a bit late to say this now, have you ever considered returning to your holand? After all, your family is still in Frost Plated..."
"I think not, as a lowly plebeian of male gender under the Common Faith," Li Aozi retorted with sarcasm. "For the sake of your noble won’s personal safety, I’d better leave and not cause you trouble, as you are a Defender of won’s rights. So things are just not quite right to say—are they, Fourth Rule Agent?"
Captain Nimotin felt her scalp tingle.
With the fighting capability Li Aozi demonstrated by tearing apart the Infant Eater right before her, she really lacked confidence.
Moreover, as a Fourth Rule Agent, her offer to welco a male back... was as convincing and seemingly ludicrous as a German selling soap to Jewish people, lacking credibility, almost a hellish joke.
"You misunderstand, Frost Plating is desperate for talents; we have no gender discrimination," blurted Captain Nimotin quickly.
"Pfft—"
At her words, even Agent Yawen couldn’t keep it together. She turned her head away courteously, covering her face to stifle her laughter.
Li Aozi grinned, looking at Nimotin with a touch of disbelief.
While he knew Nimotin was foolish, he didn’t expect her to be foolish to this extent.
Like Nomi from the Rose Army, who didn’t care much about such things, broke into hearty laughter, patting Li Aozi on the shoulder.
"Hahaha... Can you perform that again, say it again, haha, say that one more ti?"
Nimotin said dryly:
"Frost Plated does not discriminate by gender."
Nomi laughed hysterically, doubling over and crying with laughter.
"(Civilization Frost Plating) I can’t, I can’t take it anymore! Hahaha—This is the funniest joke I’ve ever heard."
Even Nimotin felt perhaps she should consider a career in stand-up cody.
But having said so much, she could only stiffen her resolve and speak:
"Mr. Leoz, I’d like to ask you to think more about your family. They still need to live."
"What’s that to ?" asked Li Aozi, puzzled.
"...Your act of treason has not yet been made public, but it is only a matter of ti. Needless to say, once they beco known as ’relatives of a traitor’, they won’t be able to take civil service exams, will face discrimination in job hunting, and will be gossiped about by neighbors."
"My grandfather was a political prisoner with a record and couldn’t enter civil service already; my father has been missing, didn’t even finish paying off his entry loan, my mother’s health is failing, she won’t last many years, my older sister is studying in the capital, constantly asking for money, and my younger sister mingles with the delinquents," explained Li Aozi, without a shred of guilt:
"I really can’t see why you would threaten with my family? Why do you assu my female relatives have no capacity for self-employnt? Won are producers in Society just as much as anyone, they don’t need to rely on n, and they certainly don’t need n. Family is just a constraint for won!"
"Frost Plated is a country for won, why should n adhere to the patrilineal traditions inherited from a feudal past? Courtesy, integrity, thrift and filial piety, devotion to the family—all these are remnants used to persecute won, I suspect you of discrimination and oppression of won."
Li Aozi’s flurry of blows left Captain Nimotin dazed.
As a Republic, Frost Plated had to pay attention to human rights, and the more Captain Nimotin thought about it, the more she realized Li Aozi’s argunts were irrefutable.
Emphasizing individualism and self-interest, liberating won from the household—that was the slogan of the Frost Plated Governnt.
Li Aozi’s underlying ssage was clear: by inviting him, a man, as a Fourth Rule Agent working for the protection of won’s rights, would be implicitly stating ’as long as there are benefits, n can have supremacy over won’—effectively admitting that the status of won in Frost Plated Governnt was no higher than that of n.
