Gio Zieou sighed regretfully:
"The Gem Dragon King Leviathandal is the very concept of ’life.’ If you wish to destroy it, you must eliminate all life in the known universe, ourselves included. Without it, we would be forced back into that dull, monotonous existence without any trace of human interest—or leisure. Oh, I don’t an you, of course."
"The Dark Titan Gelbroth is the essence of darkness and fear. If we eliminate it, there will be no darkness left in the universe, only chaos and void... Could we even survive in such an environnt now? Think about the chaos that birthed us. As a cannon fodder deity, you lost your emotions and personality permanently after being burned by chaos for too long."
"As for the God of Insight and the Eye of Discernnt, sigh, don’t even ntion it—this guy has thoroughly won. Our rationality, knowledge, and technology all stem from the Eye of Discernnt. The more we fight it, the more we need to improve our technology, and the stronger the Eye of Discernnt becos. There’s no end in sight."
After saying this, Gio Zieou looked at Li Aozi with admiration—even without eyes, Li Aozi could see the sincerity in his attitude:
"... Almost everyone cannot stop these three entities. The Starry Abyss has defined the Destroyer as a law of inevitability: it can only be delayed and resisted, not eradicated."
"The Destroyer is our eternal enemy, not just ours, but even society faces the sa threat from the Destroyer. They might defeat the Destroyer montarily or even draw power from them—but it’s all the sa. Our battles with the Eye of Discernnt have already shown this clearly."
"The more you resist the Destroyer, the stronger your life becos, and the more powerful the Dragon King’s strength grows. The more darkness you expel, the more residual heat exists in the universe, leading to the inevitable return of ultimate darkness. The more you hone your skills, the Magic Eye absorbs enough power from your own actions."
"Before you ca, we couldn’t fight these guys. Or rather, we could only keep sending ourselves to die, using our corpses to fend off their invasion—but it was useless, like mortals trying to resist natural disasters. You know, there are still many Destroyers... Their very existence is programd to overturn, reset, and factory-reset everything in the known universe."
Gio Zieou then shifted his tone:
"But you are different, Lord Leoz. You defended against them for a billion years. Before you, no Chief God could last twenty million years... Though ti has no aning in those ages, you lasted far longer than all of us Chief Gods combined!"
["Lord Leoz, are you truly so terrifying?"]
Li Aozi was silent for a mont, collecting his thoughts before he spoke:
"Just doing my best."
If anyone else had said this, it could co off as annoying, but it seed fitting when Leoz said it.
However, Gio Zieou laughed and cursed:
"Stop it, Leoz. Others might not know, but I know how you fought against the Destroyer."
[...Oh?]
Li Aozi had an epiphany; this was a good opportunity.
He crossed his arms, intentionally putting on an indifferent and aloof attitude.
This imdiately sparked Gio Zieou’s interest, and he began to speak eloquently:
"Don’t pretend—I know your thods:
"First step, after you took over as the Executor, you imdiately abolished the old traditional provisions for samurai sustenance and established a military rit system, encouraging all deities to actively go to battle instead of sitting back and eating empty paychecks."
"Second step, you created the Pantheon, appointing talents based on rit, incorporating military rit samurai into it. This also allowed those cannon fodder deities to switch to logistics work over tens of thousands of years, vastly increasing the number of deities under your command. The more deities there were, the higher the frequency of outstanding seeds erging."
"Third step, and the most crucial point, you introduced the chanics of society."
At this, Li Aozi’s eyes turned cold.
Gio Zieou’s words had an underlying implication.
[This guy isn’t here on his own behalf; he’s testing or probing ?]
But Li Aozi kept his restraint, calmly watching the other without any change.
Gio Zieou’s facial ripples were equally calm.
The two faced each other for a few seconds before Gio Zieou finally conceded, speaking softly:
"... Of course, you introduced the beneficial aspects of society: centralized material distribution, eliminating class differences, and using precise calculations to perfectly allocate resources to different spiritual warriors. These are the advantages of society, making it extrely suitable to combat the Destroyer."
"However, I heard, Lord Leoz, that you have so understanding of the essence of society? It seems you know that... society evolved from civilization by relying on sothing, right?"
When he said this, Li Aozi looked genuinely puzzled, his true feelings showing as he said:
"I don’t know."
Gio Zieou chuckled:
"I knew it; Lord Leoz wouldn’t make a taboo."
He stepped forward, patting Li Aozi on the back, casually saying:
"Previously, Lai Anding’s mother said that in the Morphederia Universe that Lord Leoz belongs to, the amount of primordial soil seed to be overly abundant. I doubted that possibility."
Li Aozi asked:
"’Primordial soil’?"
[’Gio Zieou’ cast the Lie Detection Spell on you]
[Since you told the truth, the lie test failed.]
Li Aozi looked perplexed, but quickly pieced together the context, instantly realizing what it ant.
Society... evolved from civilization by relying on a special substance called ’primordial soil.’
This substance must possess so unique properties, and from Gio Zieou’s tone, the Starry Abyss side must be very wary of its existence, possibly even under strict control.
Not only that, Gio Zieou even used a lie detection spell—which almost certainly confird:
Leoz had hidden primordial soil.
[This Old Biden... of course, he had hidden goods to fight against the Destroyer—society actually evolved from ’primordial soil,’ who would have thought? This is unprecedented information, and Leoz didn’t even tell .]
Li Aozi suddenly thought:
[Wait, did Leoz foresee the current situation where the Starry Abyss would investigate, and purposely not tell ?]
This old thing might lack human touch... but his considerations were very thorough.
"...Hehe, don’t mind it."
’Thank goodness it’s not Leoz. This guy is loyal to the Starry Abyss and wouldn’t think of rebelling.’
Gio Zieou saw the lie detection spell fail and knew Li Aozi truly didn’t know what primordial soil was. It seed he relaxed a bit, shook his head, and said:
"Speaking of which, last ti when we were on Ziluo Star, because the lodic Society corrupted a Caral Snail, my cognition filter broke—that’s when I noticed, despite our different bodies, we deities can recognize each other directly. Look at you—even as tall as you are, I can still recognize you."
Li Aozi replied indifferently:
"That’s natural."
"Not natural at all. I died when I was only six hundred thousand years old, never even had the chance to change bodies, and after my death, Mother of Lai Anding fished out of the Nether Abyss. It takes a long ti to resurrect, and now I have to hide my identity and participate in battles as a player—Hey, we are not like you. You reincarnated directly into the outer Starry Abyss."
Gio Zieou clicked his tongue in amazent:
"Was it Gaia that spared your life? Only destroyed your body but not your soul? Truly lucky, because if the soul is gone, it’d have to be gathered from the Nether Abyss, piece by piece, and many don’t have such luck."
"After all, in the vast Nether Abyss, where countless souls converge into torrents, the longer the ti passes, the less complete they beco—so I wondered after awakening: could it be that we resurrected beings, due to our low completeness, can’t enter the Starry Abyss in our original form, and have to rely on divine instinct and mory to descend into mortals?"
"Of course, this is just speculation, perhaps just my own conspiracy theory... What if the Starry Abyss simply wants us to live out our retirent peacefully without disrupting the reality filter?"
Gio Zieou was quite a chatterbox. Perhaps he was overly familiar with Leoz, or he was just thrilled to reconnect after such a long ti.
"I don’t know."
Deep inside, Li Aozi felt a sudden gravity:
[Everything is confird.]
————————————
"Our situation is different from others. Although those Descenders are blessed by Lai Anding, from Gio Zieou’s state, his mind hasn’t been divided, just his divinity and mories as a deity... "
......
"Their forr selves were recovered, so they probably don’t have any retained power."
......
"Because I didn’t die."
......
"I didn’t die at the hands of Gaia’s henchn from the secret society."
......
"In my final monts, Gaia spared , likely moved by my family’s pleas. It exiled to the Starry Abyss instead—this must be why I could retain complete mory and consciousness."
————————————
His earlier conversation with Leoz resurfaced in his mind.
[Gio Zieou’s words and Leoz’s hypothesis match perfectly.]
Li Aozi thought rapidly:
First, confirm one thing: "Starry Abyss" is not a ga at all. It is a living universe. My previous assumptions about a lower-dinsional world were all wrong.
"Starry Abyss" is the Starry Abyss.
The ga doesn’t exist.
According to Leoz, and most likely under the raid of the Destroyer, it’s the last surviving universe besides the Earth’s universe.
