The four main officials of the Eternal Domain received orders from Yan Xing to prepare.
Duan’er was deeply moved by Yan Xing’s initiative to send troops to help him reclaim the Red Mud Wetland, but he also expressed concern.
"Master Yan Xing, even if Stenchwater Steel Fang brings only a hundred Werewolf Warriors, that’s still more than our forces. If we rush into an attack... and if we are defeated, it will be very difficult to take back the Red Mud Wetland."
Currently, the Duan’er Tribe could muster only a little more than thirty Werewolf Warriors. He didn’t know how many troops the Eternal Domain had, but it appeared to have only about twenty or so. Even combined, their forces were still only half the strength of the invading Stenchwater Forest wolf pack. Furthermore, since humans are not adept at fighting in swamps, their military strength would be greatly diminished.
Yan Xing then said, "The Stenchwater Forest wolf pack likely attacked the Red Mud Wetland during the night. Right now, they must still be busy subduing the captive Werewolves and won’t have had ti to arrange the defenses for the Red Mud Wetland. They would never expect us to counterattack so quickly. As long as our attack is swift and fierce, the invading wolf pack, unaware of how many warriors we’ve brought, will surely retreat in fear. Conversely, if we delay our counterattack, not only will it allow the invading wolf pack to set up defenses at their leisure, but your captive won and children might also be moved deeper into the Stenchwater Forest. The losses would be too great."
Duan’er nodded repeatedly at Yan Xing’s analysis. Ti was of the essence; an imdiate counterattack presented the best opportunity.
"I’ll listen to Master Yan Xing. Let’s fight our way back right now!"
By this ti, Eddie and Olaf had already organized their respective teams. The Werewolves who had been corralled outside were released to enter the territory and retrieve their weapons. The five Poison Flies that had been netted were set free.
Gao Sipa brought over a set of armor. On it were Steel Chains and a slingshot. Yan Xing took the equipnt and personally handed it to Duan’er. "Please, Clan Leader Duan’er, put this on now. We set off imdiately."
While Duan’er was changing into his armor, Yan Xing drove the cargo truck out. Eddie and Olaf imdiately led their n to climb onto the truck, while Duan’er, now in his armor, circled the vehicle.
He exclaid in astonishnt, "What... what kind of magic beast is this? How can it be so ta? Even the best Beast Tars of our Swamp Tribe can’t make a magic beast lie still like this. Master Yan Xing, you’ve even put a layer of iron armor on it! You are truly wealthy!"
Yan Xing opened the passenger door and pulled Duan’er in. "Sit down," he said. "This magic beast is called a cargo truck, and its temperant is extrely docile. As long as you master the technique, it moves when you command it to move, and lies down when you command it to lie down. Sit tight. We’ll drive over there. It’ll take less than an hour to reach the swamp. Speed is of the essence in warfare, and the Werewolves of Stenchwater Forest will never expect us to return so quickly."
Without further ado, Yan Xing closed the passenger-side door. By this ti, Eddie’s and Olaf’s n were all aboard, filling the truck bed to capacity.
Yan Xing called out to Eddie, "Go, bring my agricultural trike, and load up those Great Werewolves."
"Yes, My Lord," Eddie responded and jumped off the truck.
During their work, Eddie and the others often used the agricultural trike to transport supplies within the domain, so Eddie easily drove it over. He picked out the Great Werewolves and the other strongest werewolves to board the trike, while Gao Sipa distributed slingshots and pellets to them.
Yan Xing sat in the driver’s seat of the cargo truck. Next to him, Duan’er sat rigidly in the passenger seat, tensely hugging his legs. Looking at the various controls and instrunts in the cabin, he whispered to Yan Xing, "Are we inside this magic beast’s brain?"
Yan Xing held the steering wheel and chuckled. "Sort of. Don’t be nervous; this thing is very obedient."
With that, Yan Xing started the cargo truck’s engine, its headlights casting two bright beams forward. Then, Yan Xing pressed the truck’s horn. The trendous blast of sound made Duan’er shudder again.
Ahead, Gao Sipa and Lao Hansi, along with a few farrs, had opened the main gate of the domain’s defensive wall. Other farrs stood on either side of the gate with shovels, watching the departing convoy. Yan Xing rolled down his window and patted the door, giving Eddie a hand signal. Eddie understood and started driving the agricultural trike, carrying the Werewolf Warriors who were yelping in fear as they took the lead, dashing out of the domain to scout ahead. Behind them, Yan Xing slowly started the cargo truck and drove out of the domain.
Gao Sipa and Lao Hansi, leaning on their shovels, led the other farrs in watching as the domain’s Great Army disappeared into the twilight over the grassland.
They thought... just three days ago, their master had also led the Great Army on an expedition with such might.
Gao Sipa led the shout, "Master Yan Xing always keeps his word!"
"Master Yan Xing is brave and invincible!"
Listening to the organized shouts from behind, Yan Xing couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret. If I’d known the family motto could be used like this, I should have written ten thousand words and made them morize it all!
Once far from the domain, Yan Xing focused on driving the cargo truck as it bumped across the grassland. Ahead, Eddie drove the agricultural trike, keeping to the edge of the cargo truck’s headlight beams. Through the walkie-talkie on his shoulder, Eddie occasionally reported the road conditions ahead.
Apart from the rumbling of the cargo truck’s engine, the grassland was enveloped in silence.
Duan’er, sitting cautiously in the passenger seat, gradually shifted from initial fear of this "cargo truck" magic beast to amazent. It was so fast, and it could maintain high speeds for long periods. And the two big eyes on its head, shining light so far into the distance! Impressive! A hero who could ta such a powerful magic beast must be even stronger himself!
Duan’er couldn’t help but exclaim, "Master Yan Xing, this magic beast’s speed rivals the fastest horses, yet no horse could maintain such high speed continuously! And it’s more obedient than the tast horse. It truly makes marvel that such magical beasts exist in this world!"
Yan Xing, keeping his eyes on the taillights of the agricultural trike ahead as he drove, casually responded to Duan’er, "This isn’t even this cargo truck’s top speed. The main issue is the poor road conditions here; it can’t really pick up speed... Once we’re settled, I’ll build a road between the Red Mud Wetland and the Eternal Domain. When that ti cos and you ride in this cargo truck again... forget horses; even if you gave a cheetah four extra legs, it wouldn’t be able to catch up!"
Duan’er was astonished. "It... it can go even faster?"
"Much faster! Perhaps even faster than your Poison Flies," Yan Xing said, glancing outside. He then asked Duan’er, "Clan Leader, have your Poison Flies caught up? Why can’t I see them?"
"They’re following."
At Duan’er’s call, the five Poison Flies that had been flying overhead instantly appeared beside the cargo truck’s cab. The wings of the Poison Flies buzzed loudly as they flew alongside the cargo truck.
While Duan’er envied Yan Xing for possessing such a potent magic beast like the cargo truck, Yan Xing, in turn, looked at the Poison Flies outside and coveted them as well.
And magic...
This is a fantasy world. It has only revealed a small corner of itself to , yet it’s already so enchanting.
I wonder what other miraculous things exist out there.
Thunderous Swamp, here I co!
