Yan Xing withdrew his focus, smiling at Li Jiya with ease. "It’s nothing serious, just so criminals causing trouble in the city. As the Peace Officer of Nuta City, I will be able to quell this riot quickly."
A violent explosion occurred sowhere close by.
Li Jiya looked in the direction of the explosion and said, "This doesn’t seem like the work of re criminals, does it?"
Yan Xing laughed heartily. "If I say they are criminals, then they are criminals. It’s not safe here—follow to the top floor; from there we can get a clearer view."
Inside the embassy, the Werewolf Guards sprang into action.
All the gates connecting to the outside world were closed, and Magic was used to reinforce them.
On the walls, Werewolf Warriors in combat gear kept vigil. They carried shields and fire axes, and from the holsters at their waists dangled flintlock pistols loaded with bullets.
Inside the walls, alchemical automatons pushed out cannons transported from the Eternal Domain.
The embassy’s attendants were busy transporting supplies, handing rocket launchers to the Werewolf Warriors and helping move gunpowder and cannonballs.
When Yan Xing arrived with Li Jiya at the rooftop of the embassy’s main building, a squadron of thirty griffons had just landed from the sky.
These griffons were led by six newly trained Gryphon Knights from the Eternal Domain, representing the embassy’s aerial powers.
Additionally, several Mages on all four sides of the rooftop set up a defensive magic wall, employing alchemical equipnt purchased from the Goblin Alchemy Factory.
In the center of the rooftop, a basic radar, its waterproof cover removed, was exposed. Several alchemical automatons operated around the radar, and soon, its antenna began to rotate.
All aerial targets detected by the radar were projected into Yan Xing’s conscious space for Chui Chui to analyze.
On the side of the rooftop close to the embassy’s front gate, attendants had already constructed a tent with open fronts and backs, with equipnt piled up on both sides for easy access.
After Yan Xing walked in, a servant imdiately brought over an observation scope and placed it in front of the tent.
Yan Xing peered through the observation scope to survey the situation in Nuta City.
It was more chaotic than he had imagined.
Explosions resounded throughout the city districts, with various colors of Magic shooting from the ground into the sky. Griffons cried out overhead as comrades who once patrolled together were now enemies locked in combat.
The City Defense Force had completely lost control of the city. In only a few places did the Wildwind Highlands Legion’s flags still flutter, and the heavily depleted City Defense Force couldn’t muster the forces to quell the unrest.
Even the Lord’s Mansion was under siege.
Yan Xing aid the observation scope at the Lord’s Mansion and saw two different factions of griffon squadrons battling around its castle.
The exterior was bombarded with Magic and boulders against the Mansion’s defensive shield.
From the Lord’s castle, the defenders fired arrows and retaliated with Magic from every window.
Watching the battle at the Lord’s Mansion, Yan Xing couldn’t help but comnt, "A bunch of rcenaries even have siege weapons. The Farsight rcenary Corps seems very well-prepared."
At this mont, Li Jiya said from Yan Xing’s side, "I’ve heard Lady Karol ntion... the Farsight rcenary Corps is backed by the Temple. Perhaps the Farsight rcenary Corps has received funding from the Nuta City Temple..."
Li Jiya didn’t know how much Yan Xing knew about the Farsight rcenary Corps’ background and couldn’t help but share so intelligence regarding them.
Yan Xing looked at Li Jiya. "You know quite a lot."
Li Jiya said evasively, "I just heard it from Lady Karol... other than that..."
While Li Jiya was still trying to explain, a Magic Beam flew in from the front, smashing into the embassy’s main building’s defensive wall.
The magical elents shattered upon impact, dissolving into a ripple of light blossoms.
Imdiately after, a huge boulder flew out from the residential area in front of the embassy, hitting the protective wall and causing a wave of turbulence.
Then more and more Magic and boulders ca flying in.
Griffons appeared nearby, and people climbed onto the rooftops of civilian houses to shoot arrows at the embassy.
The Werewolf Warriors guarding the wall imdiately pulled out their firearms to retaliate.
Then they hoisted the rocket launchers and bombarded the direction from which the Magic had co.
The battle erupted instantly, and casualties followed.
Seeing that Yan Xing had turned his attention to the battlefield, Li Jiya secretly heaved a sigh of relief, then reminded herself to be mindful of her position.
Such a low-level mistake must not happen again.
Afterward, Li Jiya started to pay attention to the strange weapons and fighting thods of the Eternal Domain.
The Thunderous Swamp Embassy in Nuta City was originally a noble villa, surrounded by streets on all four sides.
The main attack area for the assailants was the front. Separated by a slightly wide road was a low-rise civilian district, suitable for hiding a large number of people.
From inside, they could use catapults to hurl stones that could directly hit the main building of the embassy without any obstacles.
The embassy’s defenders also mainly defended this front line.
To Li Jiya, the equipnt of the Eternal Domain Werewolf Warriors seed extrely fine.
Each warrior had two sets of armor.
One was for duty: a magnificent and majestic gold full-body armor, extraordinarily splendid.
However, when they fought, Werewolf Warriors would switch to a set of black Protective Clothing vests.
Li Jiya had seen this Protective Clothing and had touched it.
She knew that special protective panels could be inserted into this Protective Clothing. It provided good protection, was very convenient to wear, and affected movent far less than tallic full-body armor.
Li Jiya once suggested to Lady Karol that the duchy’s army could also use this kind of Protective Clothing.
But Lady Karol had said... it could be made, but it wouldn’t be as sturdy as the Protective Clothing from the Eternal Domain.
A well-cared-for set of tal armor could last a lifeti, worn by the father first and then handed down to the son. However, this Protective Clothing, after the insertion of the heavy protective panels, was prone to wear and tear.
Without the fabric and sewing techniques of the Eternal Domain, the cost of using this kind of Protective Clothing was simply too high.
The duchy couldn’t afford to equip its army with this kind of Protective Clothing.
Beyond Protective Clothing, what Li Jiya found even more intriguing were the firearms in the hands of the Eternal Domain’s troops.
The firearm was a weapon that fired bullets from the barrel by using the gas generated from the combustion of gunpowder.
Gunpowder was an accidental discovery by Alchemists while researching Alchemy, and once Goblins obtained the formula, they invented firearms.
Almost all Goblins were equipped with a firearm as a ans of self-defense.
Goblin firearms could only really be used for self-defense, as their power was truly too weak.
Short range, low lethality, negligible precision.
They could only be considered reliable at close quarters.
They also frequently exploded.
Thus, aside from Goblins, no one liked using firearms.
However, the firearms in the hands of the Eternal Domain’s Werewolf Warriors surpassed Li Jiya’s understanding of such weapons.
Firstly, their firing rate was very fast.
Break open the buttstock, stuff in a bullet, aim, and shoot.
The firing speed wasn’t much slower than that of a skilled Archer.
Moreover, the shape of a firearm made it easier to conceal oneself. The Werewolf Warriors would set up their shields in front, hide behind them to shoot, and only needed to reveal half their head to complete the shooting motion.
They could even shoot with just one hand extended.
An Archer had to expose half their body to complete the action of drawing the bow and shooting the arrow.
Thus, the current scene unfolded.
The Werewolf Warriors on the wall hid behind their respective shields. The incoming arrows clinked against the shields, but they were useless against the Warriors.
The Werewolf Warriors, in groups of five, would load their firearms and simultaneously take aim and shoot at a target.
After firing, they would take cover and continue reloading.
The groups of Werewolf Warriors also coordinated with each other, with one group reloading while another shot, constantly suppressing the enemy with firepower.
The range and power of these firearms also far exceeded those of Goblin firearms.
Li Jiya witnessed firsthand how, at a distance of a hundred ters, a rcenary was hit by a bullet fired by a Werewolf Warrior. His chest burst open, blood sprayed, and he fell to the ground motionless.
On the battlefield, far too many rcenaries died like this.
In a short while, nearly a hundred rcenary corpses littered the rooftops of the civilian houses, yet only two Werewolves had been shot.
If the fighting continued, all the rcenaries would die under the Werewolf Warriors’ guns, and still, they wouldn’t breach the embassy’s wall.
The enemy commander also realized this, and so Mages turned to hurl their Magic at the Werewolves defending the wall.
