Count Theodore asked Yan Xing, "How many of these woven bags do you have?"
Yan Xing answered, "As many as you need."
Count Theodore was invigorated and said, "Really? I’m not joking with you. My needs are very great... it could be in the millions, or even more."
Yan Xing said with a smile, "As long as Lord Earl doesn’t buy on credit, there are as many woven bags as you need."
Count Theodore stood up and said to the dignitaries in the stands, "I believe there is no need to continue this competition any further. The road repair project from Nuta City to Storm City will be constructed by the road crew from Eternal Domain."
Gale finally realized he had caused a big problem. He thought it was because he had raised the price for road repairs, angering Count Theodore and allowing Yan Xing’s Eternal Domain road crew to take advantage of the situation. Now, it wasn’t just about losing the Nuta City to Storm City road repair project. The Golden Oak Chamber of Comrce would likely lose all road construction and repair projects in the Wildwind Highlands because of him.
Gale’s face turned pale. He grabbed Count Theodore’s clothes and pleaded desperately, "Lord of the City, he must be deceiving you! There can’t be alchemical items so cheaply made in this world. He must have an ulterior motive; the barbarians from Thunderous Swamp are not to be trusted. He... he must be serving the Orcs and Elves, and he wants to destroy all our roads."
Count Theodore shook off Gale’s hand and said to him, "I don’t know whether Knight Yan Xing is lying, but I do know that roads don’t lie. If the Orcs and Elves had woven bag technology, they would never sell it to us for as little as one Gold Coin for 250 bags. President Gale, instead of slandering Knight Yan Xing without any evidence, you should do sothing that befits your status."
In Count Theodore’s eyes, such inexpensive woven bags had risen to a strategic level. These supplies needed to be provided to the front lines first and foremost; road repair had beco secondary. The relationship with Yan Xing’s Eternal Domain had to be maintained well, and the supply channel for the woven bags could not afford any mishaps. Moreover, since the woven bags indeed offered great advantages in road construction, this project had to be given to the Eternal Domain road crew, no matter what.
President Gale, for the mont, couldn’t conceive of the woven bags’ military applications. All he knew was that he had ssed things up. If Eternal Domain’s road crew truly began to threaten the Golden Oak Chamber of Comrce’s interests in the Wildwind Highlands road projects... his position as President of the Nuta City branch might very well be over.
President Gale sank back into his chair, distraught, pondering how to rectify his mistake and secure his position within the Golden Oak Chamber of Comrce.
The highly anticipated road-building competition ended abruptly.
Everyone in Nuta City ca to recognize that Eternal Domain produced a very cheap woven material. The woven bags were very sturdy, suitable not just for earth, but also for carrying other items.
So of the poorer people even thought that with a few alterations, the woven bags could make decent clothing. After all, they were much cheaper than regular fabric.
The entire Nuta City was discussing this miraculous, inexpensive alchemical item and Eternal Domain from Thunderous Swamp, making Yan Xing’s presence felt all over again in Nuta City.
After returning to the Lord’s Mansion, Count Theodore and Yan Xing imdiately discussed the purchase of the woven bags. Five million woven bags was the first order Count Theodore placed with Yan Xing.
Yan Xing hadn’t expected this. He initially just wanted to snatch a road construction project, so how had he ended up selling woven bags? Moreover, the first deal was a huge one for 20,000 Gold Coins! This was much faster money than road construction. That project had a two-month deadline, was exhausting ntally and physically, and would only yield 7,500 Gold Coins.
Sigh... sotis money just arrives so unexpectedly.
After signing the woven bag purchase contract and the road construction contract with Count Theodore, Yan Xing returned to the real world and placed an order with woven bag manufacturers through his Eternal Comrce and Trade. He sought production from multiple sources simultaneously, aiming for rapid delivery to get the 20,000 Gold Coin paynt in hand quickly.
Having placed the order, Yan Xing returned to the Magic World. Then he mounted his beloved steed, called upon his bodyguard Hibel, and, along with the Werewolf Warriors, left the Lord’s Mansion. He was off to the Goblin Alchemy Factory to inquire if the Goblins could produce Magic Generator Devices and Low-Level Magical Puppets. And since there would surely be Alchemists within the Alchemy Factory, he planned to consult about the demonization issue of his steed as well.
However, just as Yan Xing and Hibel stepped out of the Lord’s Mansion, they encountered Gale waiting outside.
"Miss Hibel, Sir Yan Xing," President Gale greeted the two, who were mounted on their warhorses. He then pointed to a carriage on the other side of the road and said to Yan Xing, "Sir Yan Xing, I have so matters I’d like to discuss with you. It’s not convenient to talk here; may we discuss this in my carriage?"
Yan Xing glanced at Gale’s carriage but didn’t dismount. He said to Gale, "President Gale... I have so urgent matters to attend to right now. If your matter is important, let’s discuss it here. If not, we can schedule another ti to et."
Gale hesitated for a mont before reluctantly saying, "Sir Yan Xing... during today’s competition, I noticed that your road crew’s techniques are quite unpracticed. The road repair project from Nuta City to Storm City is quite complex, and your crew might not be able to complete it within two months. I hope you will hand over this project to us. You only need to pay us three Gold Coins per hundred ters, and you could earn two Gold Coins per hundred ters without lifting a finger. Miss Hibel, please do not misunderstand my intentions. For the entire Nuta City to Storm City road section repair, we will purchase woven bags from Eternal Domain to fill the road gaps, ensuring we et Count Theodore’s requirents."
Three Gold Coins per hundred ters was the normal price for road maintenance. If Gale took the project from Yan Xing at this price, even with the need to purchase additional woven bags, he could still ensure a sufficient profit.
Gale’s main objective, however, was to prevent Yan Xing from getting involved in the profits from the Wildwind Highlands roads. It would be best if Yan Xing simply remained a comfortable supplier of woven bags.
But for Yan Xing... a deal where he could earn more than four Gold Coins per hundred ters, but was now offered only two, was a losing proposition. Of course, he couldn’t agree to it.
Therefore, Yan Xing said to President Gale, "My Eternal Domain road crew might be a bit inexperienced, but practice makes perfect. It’s just road construction; it’s not that complex. My peasants can even build wonders; do you think they can’t figure out a road? President Gale, how could a minor road construction project worth only a few thousand Gold Coins possibly be worthy of your attention? Please leave so room for a small businessman like to survive. You’re feasting on the big profits elsewhere; can’t you let have a sip of the broth trailing behind you? President, if there are no other matters, we must be going. I also hope that if you have other profitable ventures in the future, you’ll rember to include . Let’s make money together."
With that, Yan Xing urged his steed forward.
Hibel saw President Gale had nothing further to say and followed Yan Xing on horseback. The accompanying Werewolf Warriors guarded them on either side.
