Chapter 1408: Very important single chapter, must read.
Regarding the recent chapters, I feel it’s necessary to say a few words.
I am actually really not good at writing psychological activities, and I’m too lazy to write them, so usually, when encountering major events that require deep thought to make a choice, I often just write the outco, glossing over the decision-making process.

A group of simple and happy small figures can die, but when they die, they do so with no regrets. It’s not for great righteousness or high ideals, just for the brothers around them. When it’s ti to die, when they have to die, then so be it.
For Satan’s group, death is not important, nor is it scary. What matters is dying happily. Just like Bruce, he died, but he died happily because the death of one person could ensure the survival of others in Satan. It was worth it, he was happy to die. This is the character I want to write for Satan’s group.
The protagonist’s psychological struggle, his entanglent and pain, are quite hard for to write, and I’m not willing to write them, but I can’t avoid it. He is a small individual who wants to be a big figure, but to be a big figure, he must give up many things, like the camaraderie that big figures discard like an old shoe. The protagonist is unwilling to give it up, yet he wants to be a big figure, so he can only be in pain.
I don’t want to write about thoughtful and invincible smart people, and I can’t do it anyway. I want to write about ordinary people within the normal range of intelligence. So as this book has progressed, everyone has probably noticed that the protagonist’s battle plans almost never execute smoothly or perfectly. Why? Because I firmly believe that plans cannot keep up with changes, and the protagonist is clearly not a super-intelligent genius who can always anticipate the enemy.
People all grow, and Gao Yang is growing too. His tangled feelings and pain are the results of growing, because he finally started thinking about things from the perspective that a big figure should have, but in the end, he still chose the way and principles of doing things as a small individual. It was for a pawn, a pawn that a big figure wouldn’t even glance at, that got them involved in a war they should have stayed away from.
I initially wrote a lot, but the word count exceeded, so here’s a summary. I don’t know if my ideas are right, but I believe rcenaries are small individuals.
