255: Chapter 253: The Military Doctor is Ruthless

Although he had instructed the translator to tell the others not to insult or mistreat the captive, Gao Yang doubted the effectiveness of his own words.

After so many deaths, the Skull Gang mbers couldn’t possibly refrain from taking their anger out on this prisoner.

Gao Yang sighed, pulled out his pistol, turned around, and walked back.

Then, looking at the captive, he said calmly, “Do you have any last words?

Although I don’t want to know your na, if you have a ssage to convey, you can tell

your na, and if possible, I will try to deliver your ssage.”

The captive smiled in relief and said loudly, “Considering you’re willing to kill , I won’t tell you my na.

It would feel terrible to know soone’s na and then kill them, and I have no ssage to convey, anyway.

My wife left , my son doesn’t care about , and although I love them, I’d rather not disturb their lives with the news of my death.

It’s fine to die here with my comrades-in-arms.

My only request is that you use your sniper rifle instead of your pistol.

Dying by the sa gun used by SBS mbers would make

feel a bit better.”

Gao Yang nodded, put his pistol back into its holster, picked up his EBR, and waved his hands to the people gathered around the prisoner.

Then, turning to the translator beside him, he said, “Get them all to leave this place.

You all, leave.”

The translator looked at Gao Yang then said a few words in Somali.

The group reluctantly moved away, creating a distance of at least thirty ters around Gao Yang and the captive.

Gao Yang asked the prisoner, “Can you stand up?”

The captive smiled broadly, struggling to his feet while chuckling, “Without those idiotic and annoying onlookers, to be able to die standing feels good, buddy.

You’ve really got so gentlemanly dignity.”

With a grave tone, Gao Yang said, “You are a worthy and respectable opponent, so I will grant you the dignity you seek.

Do you have anything else you want to say?”

The captive shook his head and said in a relaxed manner, “Thank you, mate.

Thanks for killing

by your own hand.

There’s nothing more to say.

Well then, my brothers are waiting for .”

Gao Yang said softly, “No need to thank .

Farewell!”

After speaking, Gao Yang pulled the trigger.

Following the gunshot, the captive fell to the ground.

Gao Yang had shot him in the heart, ensuring the captive died without pain.

On his face painted with camo, was an expression of relaxation, having been released from all burdens.

Shooting soone who had no ability to resist felt awful.

However, doing so at the request of the dying man made Gao Yang feel sowhat better about it.

Gao Yang remained in his shooting stance for a while then, after a long sigh, he put his weapon away and gestured for the translator to approach.

When the translator arrived, Gao Yang said sternly, “Gather these attackers’ bodies and all their equipnt in one place.

No one is allowed to take anything for themselves.

If soone does, they must put it back.

This is very important, you understand?”

The translator, looking relieved, said loudly, “You can rest assured about that.

Our boss set this rule long ago.

All the spoils must be submitted and distributed by him.

Whoever takes spoils for themselves gets kicked out of the Skull Gang.

Everything will be accounted for in correspondence with a body; nothing will be missing.”

Gao Yang nodded and said, “I’m not concerned with that.

I also don’t care whether they can do what you’ve said.

I only want to tell you that many of the spoils on them can’t be bought with money.

If taken, the Instruction Platoon can’t use them.

You handle it.

Also, do not insult their bodies.”

Gao Yang’s concerns were not unfounded.

A well-known movie called ‘Black Hawk Down’ depicted the experience of the U.S.

military in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, where the sight of Arican soldiers’ bodies being dragged through the streets was broadcast all over the world.

All of us are warriors; defeating the enemy ans the end of everything.

If the bodies are further insulted, it is too much.

Gao Yang could not allow such a thing to happen under his watch.

The translator seed slightly displeased and said gravely, “Instructor, no one here takes out their anger on a corpse.

We are not savages who desecrate the dead.”

Gao Yang nodded and replied, “Good, that’s how it should be.

Go on, do what you have to do.”

After sending the translator off to carry out his orders, Gao Yang headed alone towards the cabin where he was supposed to et with Abu.

When he found it, he saw nothing but a pool of blood inside.

Gao Yang furrowed his brow.

He thought that if Abu had been shot, then he’s either dead, which ends all discussion, or if he was wounded and not dead, he should have been taken to where Bruce was by now.

The likelihood of Abu being unscathed was not high because, otherwise, he would have shown up by now.

Gao Yang turned and headed to the ergency aid station established by Bruce.

When he arrived, he found the area around the small building crowded with the injured, along with the cries of won and children.

Most of the wounded laid in silence on the ground; at most, only one-third were still able to groan.

Gao Yang frowned as he passed through the crowd that was scattered about and entered the hut that had been turned into an operating room.

By now, the generator had arrived at the ergency point, and almost all the electric lights were concentrated in the cabin, making the brightly lit ergency room as bright as day.

At the entrance of the ergency room, a bunch of people crowded around, and a few soldiers from the Instruction Platoon were barely maintaining order, leaving a passage for people to get through.

But the shouting of the wounded and their friends and family at the door turned the entrance of the ergency room into a chaotic scene, much like a marketplace.

Seeing this, Gao Yang frowned again and stepped into the ergency room.

Bruce was performing surgery on a patient with an abdominal gunshot wound.

When Bruce saw Gao Yang co in, he just glanced up at him and continued to focus intently on the surgery, without any ti to speak to him.

Maide was still in the ergency room, lying motionless on the carpet on the side.

It was unclear whether he was dead or alive, but with nowhere else to send him at the mont, Maide had to be left there.

Plus, if anything went wrong, Bruce could attend to him imdiately.

Gao Yang reached out and felt Maide’s breath through his nose, finding it fairly steady.

Gao Yang then breathed a sigh of relief and stood by, watching as Bruce continued with his surgery.

Bruce’s movents were swift, almost unbelievably so.

It didn’t look like he was performing surgery on a person but more like he was a butcher slaughtering livestock.

And indeed, with blood all over the floor, the ergency room really did resemble a slaughterhouse.

Gao Yang might not have winced at blowing a man’s head off in combat, but the sight of the human body split open, spilling out colorful intestines, made him break out in a cold sweat.

He glanced at it only once before hurriedly averting his gaze.

In just a short two to three minutes, Bruce had completed the entire process from debrident to suturing the wound.

He hastily stitched up the incision, then grabbed a syringe from the side, thrust it near the wound, and almost instantly injected the contents.

Tossing the syringe aside, he loudly commanded, “Take him out, next!”

Four n ca in from outside and carried the patient away.

Seizing the opportunity, Gao Yang quickly asked, “Test Tube, has Abu been brought in?”

Without lifting his head, Bruce broke open a vial, then took a disposable syringe and drew the drug into it before hastily saying, “He’s been brought in, shot in the leg and chest, very dangerous.

He’s already had surgery, but his chances of surviving are not good.

I’ve had him moved sowhere else.”

While Bruce was speaking, after a bit of commotion at the door, a black man was carried in and placed on a makeshift operating table, which was nothing more than wooden planks covered with a layer of plastic sheeting.

The newly brought in black man had also been shot in the abdon with two bullet holes.

Bruce held a syringe in his left hand but didn’t administer it.

Instead, he used the scalpel, which he hadn’t changed or cleaned, to make an incision with his right hand.

Gao Yang’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.

He always knew military doctors were tough and ruthless, but he never imagined they would be this tough, this ruthless — not even using anesthetics, and no disinfection to speak of, just cutting in with the scalpel.

The worst was yet to co.

After Bruce had opened up the patient’s abdon, he pawed inside the abdominal cavity, took just one look, and then loudly declared, “No hope, take him away, next.”

A soldier from the Instruction Platoon, gun in hand, imdiately shouted sothing in Somali.

At this point, the two n who had brought in the patient refused to stand by.

Suddenly, two guns were raised, aiming at Bruce.

Gao Yang was scared out of his wits and imdiately drew his pistol, aiming at one of their heads.

Bruce was still restless, showing no sign of fear.

As the soldier from the Instruction Platoon was loudly reprimanding the two black n, Bruce also shouted, “He’s beyond help!

You’re wasting ti that could be used to see another patient.

F**k, either shoot or get the hell out!”

After the soldier translated Bruce’s words, the two n bringing in the wounded hesitated, then with faces full of helpless resignation, they lowered their weapons one by one.

Soon after, both wore expressions of sorrow and incessantly spoke to Bruce.

Although it was incomprehensible what they were saying, they were certainly pleading with him.

Bruce yelled, “Get out!

Next!

You’re killing people who could be saved, idiots!”

The gun-toting soldier continued to shout loudly, and only then did the two n, weeping, carry away the patient with his abdon opened.

All the while, Bruce made no move to suture the opened abdon of the patient.

Gao Yang finally couldn’t help but ask, “Test Tube, is he really beyond saving?”

Bruce, expressionless, replied, “Give

a sterile operating room, the drugs I need, two assistants, and most importantly, give

three hours.

I could save him.

If not, get out and don’t disrupt my work.” (To be continued.
