"Good morning, President Legend," Sara greeted. She still wished she could leave here and return to her cubicle in the PR departnt, but here she was, starting her first day as the president's secretary despite him still having an active secretary.
"Morning, Miss Ambrose. Welco to your first day WITH ," he shalessly emphasized the last two words, making her scrunch her nose.
"I believe I am here to work and not to be with you," Sara uttered, fighting hard not to glare at him.
Alexander chuckled. "But we are going to be spending a lot of ti together. You will get used to it soon enough," he said and signaled her to co closer, but she squinted her eyes at him. "I promise I won't bite."
Sara glared at him. The smirk on his face had her wanting to wipe it off, but she maintained a cool exterior while killing him a hundred tis in her head.
"How can I help you, Sir," she stood beside him, staring at the screen and then at him. He had his eyes on the screen of the computer in front of him as his fingers typed away. She had to admit that he was a fine man. He was a fine specin, but that didn't make him any different from other n. Just like them, he was a devil with the appearance of a saint. 'But he looks a little better when working,' an intrusive thought popped into her head, and she scrunched.
"It wasn't necessary to co so close, but I can't complain, can I? I like the proximity," he said as he looked up at her with a smirk.
Sara took a step away from him, but she didn't move any farther, not wanting to give him the idea that she was affected by him or his words.
"What a sha," Alex sighed. He looked like a child feeling wronged all of a sudden, and Sara couldn't understand why he was acting like that.
"Why was I called, Sir?" Sara asked, determined to shift his attention from whatever he was aiming at.
"You are late on your first day," he said, his tone suddenly becoming serious, and Sara had to adjust herself to keep up with the change.
But his words caught her off guard. It was not even 8:00 AM yet. "I believe I am not, Sir. The rules state that all employees must be in their station before 8:00 AM. The ti is currently 7:54 AM. How am I late, Sir?" Sara asked, not willing to be wronged. Who knows what he has planned in his head?
Alex smiled inwardly at her defiance. The look of determination in her eyes was to die for. He knew she was an interesting character, but being on the receiving end of her feisty nature was a whole other thing.
"I am not supposed to be here before you. Didn't you read the contract I gave you yesterday? Besides, it is basic work ethics. Your boss shouldn't get to work before you, especially if you are directly under him," Alex said, and she opened her mouth to refute but couldn't find the right words. "You know I am right."
"It won't repeat itself," she said in defeat. But how was she supposed to know he would be here before her? He could have just co at the sa ti everyone else was coming and that would be it. But hell no.
"That is good," he nodded his head. "Get my coffee," he said and and she started walking out to get it. "Sara," he called, and she stopped. But she noticed the change in his tone. "I like my coffee without sugar and hot enough to sting the tongue."
"Thank you for that," Sara said. At least she wouldn't have to rack her brain wondering and guessing what he'll like. Alex humd a reply before she left.
"You can co out now, Kai," he said, looking at the room attached to the office. The door opened, and a furious Kai marched out of it, glaring sharply at him while he smirked and acted as if he didn't see it.
"The next ti you intend to flirt with a woman, wait until I am out before you do that," Kai said, and Alex raised a brow. "Don't give that look."
"I was talking to my secretary, and you call that flirting? Alex looked at him as if he were a child. "You need to find yourself a woman."
"Screw you," Kai hissed. "Why did you say she was late, and you were earlier than her? You didn't leave the office at all yesterday," Kai didn't know what was wrong with the supposed embodint of an iceberg, not only did he talk so much, he also lacked the coldness everyone was used to and he even lied just to get a reaction from a woman.
"She doesn't have to know that. At least now, she will have to call or send a ssage to know my personal schedule. It's a win for us both," He replied, and Kai shook his head.
"It's a win for you and not her," he massaged his temple. "Anyway, I should leave before she cos back. I need a bath and a change of clothes," he said, and Alex nodded. "Don't do it too much, or she might hate you."
"She already hates and every other man in the world. Nothing I do now would make a difference other bringing her closer to ," Alex replied. His expression shifted as he spoke, and his gaze was distant even though it seed he was staring at the door. "There is sothing I want to confirm, and you'll handle it for . Leave the office duties to her."
Kai frowned, not seeing this coming. "And what is that?"
"You will leave tomorrow and investigate. All the detail will be sent to you later," Alex glanced at him. Although he had a complicated expression on his face, Kai still nodded.
"This has to do with her, right?" Alex nodded, and Kai sighed. "Fine. You owe for this."
"I know." Was Alex's reply.
