"I think that would be all for today, Mrs. Legen. Our next appointnt will be next week," Dr Anders said, his eyes still watching her. He didn’t an to remind her of a painful past, but to get to the root of the problem, the past needs to be revisited.
"Thank you, doctor," Sara managed to say after collecting her emotions and piecing them back together. "As for the next appointnt, I will co to you at the hospital. You don’t have to go through the trouble."
Dr Anders smiled, pleased by how down to earth she was. He didn’t expect her to be this understanding, but he was glad that she was. "If that won’t hinder your schedule, then I will make the necessary arrangents."
He stood up, and so did Dr Walter. But before they could leave, Sara stopped them. "Dr Anders," she called, and the man turned to look at her. "There is sothing I would like to discuss with you, I don’t know if it’s alright with you."
A slight frown appeared on the man’s face, puzzled by what she wanted to discuss. But although puzzled, he shook his head. "That is alright as long as it doesn’t go against professional ethics," he assured her. His briefly shifted to Dr Walter, who gave him an understanding nod.
Sara offered a half smile as he walked back and sat where he sat earlier. His gaze made her feel a bit nervous, but she was determined. "Thank you for granting this opportunity," she began. Dr. Anders didn’t react, but she continued anyway. "I lost so mories. mories I believe were once precious and... I want the back. How can I get them back?"
Dr Anders stared at her, his expression contemplative as he absorbed her words. "When did you notice these...forgotten mories? Do you rember anything at all from before—like, maybe so fragnts ca back to you?"
Sara shook her head. "I just have this feeling, and there is also an undeniable proof that I have forgotten –soone. I don’t know how it’s possible but I don’t rember anything about him but he does ."
"He?" Dr Anders asked, and she nodded her head "Hmm. Can I et him? He might be if so help," he thoughtfully said.
Sara was hesitant as she didn’t want Alex knowing about this, but what if there was no other way around ut and hehe would need him again? "Alright. I will talk to him," she agreed, and Dr. Anders nodded his head.
He was already joining the pieces together but couldn’t be too sure when the facts weren’t clear enough. "I will see you on our next appointnt, Mrs Legend," he said, rising to his feet again.
"Yes, thank you for your ti," she said and walked them to the door before returning to the room. She sat down and placed her hands over her face, trying to dispel any lingering side effect from the session with the doctors.
After a mont of silence, she stood up and proceeded out of the room as well. She found herself standing before the door of Alex’s office and hesitated. She was no longer whether to go in or not. What if he was with a client or... she shook her head and knocked.
Seconds later, Kai opened the door from within. She couod still Williams seated there was a mannshe wasn’t familiar with. She was just about to say she would co back later when Kai beta her to it. "Co in, Miss Ambrose,’he said, stepping aside for her.
She hesitated for a brief mont before stepping in and offering him a polite smile. "Thank you," she said. She could leave now when everyone inside knew she was standing at the door. Alex wouldn’t like, and Williams might feel she was avoiding him.
As she walked in, Kai walked out and closed the door behind him. Sara didn’t know where he was going, but he seed in a hurry.
Taking her ficus back inside, she could feel the tension between the n, but it started to dissipate as she walked in. Alex turned his focus to her. His dark brown eyes followed her movent, and his gaze was so intense that she started to feel awkward, and her steps grew rigid.
"Are they gone?" He asked as he stood up, waked around the desk, ignoring the inquisitive gazes of Williams and David. He stopped in front of her even before she could reply to his question. He raised his hands, and his thumb gently massaged her forehead to disple the frown between her tugged brows.
"Yeah. They just left," Sara replied, feeling even lore awkward now knowing that the two n seated there were fully aware of what he was doing. Although they were thoughtful enough not to stare.
"Mhm," he humd and led her to the sofa, but she shook her head. His brows were slightly knitted together at her refusal, but she smiled and patted his cheek, which worked like magic. His features visibly relaxing and the frown disappeared like it was never there.
She looked at Williams and David, and Alex understood what she wanted to do. So he stepped aside.
"Chairman, Crawford," Sara greeted once she was beside him, and Williams smiled. Although he looked at Alex with suspicion, he didn’t show that as he looked at Sara. Looking at the other man, Sara quickly recognized Jim and acknowledged his presence. "Mr Wilson."
David smiled warmly at her with a nod of appreciation.
"It is nice to see you again, Sara," Williams said, his smile still as warm as ever. "I am sorry for the trouble my grandson had caused you these past few days. I hope you like how it was handled?" He said, and Sara frowned.
What did he handle? She thought. He eyws darted to Alex, who shrugged.
"You are not aware?" Williams asked. An expression of hurt crossed his eyes for a mont, but it disappeared so quickly that Sara had not been looking at him. She would have missed it.
"Sara hasn’t been well these days. She is nitbaware of the online rumors and gossip, Father," Alex said, coming to her aid.
At his words, Sara realized that she still didn’t have her phone with her.
"What happened?" Williams asked, his voice filled with concern and eyes apologetic.
"It’s nothing-"
"Soone tried to assassinate her," Alex replied before she could say anything.
"What?!" willimas and David exclaid their eyes darting between Alex and Sara.
Under their scrutiny, Sara felt her body grow weak. Alex must have noticed it as draped a hand around her waist. She leaned in to his arm, his warmth giving her the strength to keep standing.
"It brought back so...unpleasant mories," As he spoke, Sara gave him a hard glare, but fektbhis thumb pressed gently at her side reassuringly. "We don’t need anything that would cause her more anxiety," he concluded.
"I am sorry to hear that," Williams said also slrising to his feet and approaching the two. He had noticed the possessiveness in the way Alex held her, but now wasn’t the right ti to point that out. He looked at Alex and asked, "Have you found the one responsible for it?"
With how possessive he was, he should have done sothing already or should be doing sothing.
"Yes, we know they are," it was Sara who replied. She t Williams gaze and smiled. "You don’t have tonworry, Mr Crawford. I am doing just fine. I wasn’t hury or..." she pursed when he gave an understanding look.
"If you need any help, just let know. David and I will always be here to help," Wiliams offered. He gave Alex a look, and he nodded. Sara noticed and knew it was about ti she gave them so space.
"It’s nice to see you again, Mr Crawford, Mr Wilson," she said as she disntenced herself from Alex. "I will let you continue now."
Alex wanted to stop her, but he knew his father wanted to speak with him alone.
Once she was gone, David and Williams looked at him with the sa question in their eyes.
"I didny break them up," he said even before any of them could ask. "But I won’t let him back into her life," he said with finality.
"Anyone can easily say it was your doing, Kayden," Williams sighed, believing him even though it was hard to. "I know you’ve had feelings for her, and it surprised how for so long you watched from afar and did nothing. But now isn’t the ti..."
"There is no ti like the present. She needs , and I won’t keaveher again," Alex declared. The determination in his eyes made it hard for anyone to doubt. Williams didn’t know when a smile crept up his face, but he nodded.
"Don’t hurt herlike Adam did. She deserves better," Williams said.
"No one is better than ," Alex said without a shred of sha in his tone and expression.
Williams opened his mouth but was rendered speechless by his sons narcissistic words.
"I couldn’t agree more," David said with a shrug of his shoulders. "Let’s hope she returned your feelings—don’t force it on her."
