By the ti Sara and Alex arrived at the banquet hall, most of the guests were already present and awaiting the arrival of the hosts.
Sandra and Anne, as usual, couldn’t help but worry thinking the worst had happened which delayed Sara’s coming but Jessa, being rational one, and taking into consideration that Sara didn’t live alone any more kept her cool. Jaxon and Bernice had already gone ahead to mingle with the guest in an attempt to find out the other party who had still eluded them till now.
"You do know that the distance from Opulence Oaks to this place isn’t a small one, right?" She asked, but that didn’t seem to do the trick.
"It’s been a whole day, Jess. Will she co only when it’s all over? There are a lot of cute guys here that she could et and–"
"Did you forget about Mr. Legend?" Jessa asked, as she interrupted Sandra from thinking of matchmaking a taken woman with n who would uncountable et their doom if they were to ever agree to it.
"It’s never wrong to have more than one. That way, you can always have a choice. If one hurts you... "
"You dump them and go to another," Anne completed Sandra’s words.
"She gets it," Sandra nodded. Jessa shook her head, but she didn’t argue with them. "Sara has been hurt enough by n, so change the way you change your clothes. A new one every day. That way, no one will ever hurt you because they’ll be the ones getting hurt instead.
"Is that so?" Sandra and Anne froze at the familiar voice of their friend whom they hadn’t expected yet had been auto g for the whole day.
"These socks," Anne muttered under her breath. They both composed themselves while secretly glaring at Jessa for not warning them. She would have already seen Sara because of how she stood. "Sara, my girl... took you long enough... Miss Hale?" Anne trailed off, blinking as soon as she saw the woman standing beside Sara. She even had her hand wrapped around Sara’s like they were best pals.
"Sara why didn’t you tell us you were... is she your surprise?" Sandra’s eyes widened as she thought that.
"And you have all forgotten about ," Sara said with feigned hurt.
"They will forget anyone the mont they et new people. Get used to it,’ Jessa said as she reached out for a handshake. "Jessa Winters. It’s a pleasure eting you, Miss Hale."
"The pleasure is mine. I am just happy to et friends," Amber said as she shook Jessa’s hand. "You have wonderful friends, Sara."
"Indeed I do. Friends are so wonderful that they’ll forget once they et new people. Or soone I know once said," Sara said sarcastically, making all four ladies laugh.
"You know what they say, ’show your friend and I’ll tell you who you are? Or maybe you are more family with birds of a feather flock together?’ I might not be that different either," Jessa shrugged.
Sara shook her head at her reply. "Whatever," she said.
"Miss Hale, allow to take you around, let’s catch up,’Anne seems to have regained her voice back as she quickly moved between Sara and Amber separating them while gently pushing Sara with her hip. She didn’t care about the stairs that had been on them. She was with her friends and didn’t need to act the way people expected her to.
"Miss Hale is not my surprise. I just happened to bump into her today, and we clicked," she said as they all frowned, not sure what else could be the surprise.
As soon as she said that, Alex cane from behind her, drapes his hand around her waist, and she leaned back into his body. "Thisbis the surprise I was talking about. Alex and I married," said said showing them the ring on her finger. "So, allow to introduce to you, my husband, Alexander Legend."
All three won stared at her in shock silence. None could react until the MC called the attention of the people as he announced the presence of the couple.
"This conversation is not over," Sandra said. The announcent was her cue to go to her parents’ side as the product of tye years if marriage together. She looked at the others and smiled mildly but couldn’t et Alex’ gaze. "I’ll see you all later," she said and left the group after they nodded at her.
"I think that also ans we are to go too," Alex leaned and whispered and Sara nodded. The proximity na dpoaition looked so intimate that many couldn’t help but stare.
"Are you coming, too?" Sara asked, her gaze montarily t that of Jessa’s accusatory one.
"Of course," Jessa replied but Anne stoll took a mont to stare at the newly married couple. Sure the looked good together but still....
"Congratulations to you," Anne finally spoke. This was indeed big and shocking. A shotgun marriage. Just like thay and their friend was a married woman now.
Thanks Anne," Sara said, smiling brightly. She didn’t regret ger married with Alex andnahe would let her friends know that. She had already know that they would find it hard to accept and that was why she didn’t tell them over the phone.
"Trust , Jessa, we were equally surprised when we learned of his marriage. Just like that he is a married man. It was hard to accept that I didn’t even get the chance to plan a wedding..." Amber started but Alex interrupted her.
"There will be a wedding, " his eyes found Sara as his gaze softened. "But only when my wife wants it." There was no way in hell he wouldn’t give her a proper wedding. She looked forward to it but also was losing her value and interest for that because of what happened with Adam.
Amber’s eyes lit up as the brightest smile she had shown yet graced her face. "Great, let know when it’s ti to start making plans," she held Sara’s hand.
