Adam was silent, now realizing what he did. Where he went wrong and how everything started falling apart. But he still couldn’t understand why she would choose Alexander of all people. Why him?
"Why him? It could have been anyone, so why him? I can’t accept that." Adam said as if he would have accepted her being with another man.
Chris and Julius shared a look, understanding that it was Adam’s ego and denial that was speaking. He was refusing to accept and acknowledge the truth, and that would prove more problematic than anything else. The truth would hurt even more when he eventually can’t deny it anymore.
"You need to take a step back and think it is true, Adam. Even if what you are saying is true and they had truly planned everything since long ago, what can you do about it now? You don’t have the power needed to take him down. I am not say9ng you should try, but still..." Julius said, he placed his hand on Adam’s shoulders once again, giving a gentle squeeze. "It would be best to talk to Sara. Be calm when you do. And rember, Sue is not your woman anymore. You broke up Already..."
"Sara is still mine," Adam shook his head, causing them to frown even deeper. Was he confused or what? "It is as you said. This is just her wanting to get back at , nothing more. Once I talk to her and apologize, she will co back. We can co tinge where we stopped," he said but heard a voice inside him asking why he didn’t do that long ago and why he didn’t go after her when she walked away.
Adam shook his head, dismissing the voice inside him. "I’ll take everything back after I get Sara back," he added with so much certainty and conviction it left the others speechless."You guys are going to help , right?"
"If it’s necessary, we will," Chris replied, and Julius nodded.
"But I would like you to take into consideration what we have just said, Adam. You might change your mind after seeing the truth," Julius said, having nothing else to say to him.

Away from the trio, at Malerie’s apartnt, Malerie could be seen pacing back and forth with her placed on her ear. She chewed on her nails, feeling stressed as the tension she felt grew with every single second.
As the call entered voicemail as the automated voice spoke, she clenched her fist tightly, and the sweat on her forehead increased significantly.
"Pick up, Adam," she yelled at the phone as she tried his phone number again. But no matter how much she wanted to have her calls answered or returned, it was always the sa result, and this left her scared and irritated. How can he be so unreliable?
"Where the hell are you?" She tried not to yell but found it difficult to maintain her cool. She shouldn’t have co back here but she didn’t know where to go. Adam knew this place, he could find her easily.
Did he already know about the accident? Did he still care for his ex fiancé? This and more thoughts crowded her mind, and she didn’t even realize when she bit on her finger, having chewed up all the nails.
A knock on the door left her startled. The knock was unexpected and sent many thoughts spiraling out of control on her head. A second knock echoed, leaving her frowning. It was too calm for her liking. The ti between the first knock and the second was...it felt odd and very suspicious. Or was she just overthinking it?
"Who is it?" She took slow steps towards the door. When the person did not reply, she stopped. "Who is it?" She repeated, checking through the peephole to see who it could be.
"I have a package for you, miss, " the man replied. He was dressed as a delivery man, but Malerie didn’t make any orders.
"I didn’t order anything," she said, stepping away from the door. Were they already here for her? But why would the police pretend to be delivery n? She wondered.
"It was instructed to deliver the package here, Ma’am. Could you please open the door and sign this?" There was a bit of urgency as well as frustration in the man’s voice as he spoke.
It was rude of him to be rude to and impatient with custors, but Malerie didn’t have the ti and luxury to point that out at the mont. Wanting to be rid of him before anyone else ca looking for her, she opened the door, ready to sign the package.
"May I know which sent you...?" She stopped when she saw another man standing just beside the wall. Her fight and flight instincts kicked in a little too late as before she could process what was happening, she was caught by the man in front of her.
"You will know who sent us sooner or later, just not right now," the man said. His voice had changed from that of the delivery man he used to be earlier to becoming harsher. His grip on her hand left her wincing and struggling to break free, but it was an effortless struggle.
"Just co with us, and we won’t have to force you," the second man said, and she panicked.
These people were not the police she had expected. She thought Alex would call the police but. Evee expected him to take matters into his own hands.
"This is kidnapping. It’s against the law," she wriggled her hand, but the vice-like grip on her wrist onny made it ache painfully.
"Attempting to murder soone must be acceptable by the law then," the man holding her sneered as he pulled her out of the appeasent.
Malerie opened her mouth to say sothing when she was knocked unconscious by the other man. "I prefer them silent," he said when the first man looked at him with a raised brow.
She was picked and taken out of the apartnt and before anyone would suspect a thing, they were gone.
