Chapter 70: Count Philip

[From then on, a devout, kind, upright, and reliable knight vanished, replaced by a minion of the evil lord Lothar, a claw of the devil, consud by bestial nature.]

Looking at the profile, which had been completely and utterly distorted, Lothar was utterly dumbfounded.

’Who the hell on earth wrote this stuff?’

Lothar savored it for a mont. It actually had quite a feel to it. Although he was cast in the image of an evil villain, one couldn’t deny the allure that evil villains possessed. They were always associated with power and wisdom.

But these were all just so minor details. The most crucial part was still Hans’s character status.

There is a difference in power between those of the sa rank. Although both were 5-star, compared to a top-tier 5-star like Fringilla, Hans seed like a case of stunted postnatal developnt.

For example, his first skill, "Sword & Lance Specialization"—could this even be considered a skill?

If you go by that logic, Lothar felt he could add "Equestrian Specialization," "Eating Specialization," "Germanic Language Specialization," and a whole series of other specialization skills for himself.

Hopefully, this was actually useful.

His second skill, "Undying Body": creatures like vampires and werewolves were already renowned for their tenacious vitality, yet it was brazenly listed as a skill, appearing to be a crucial one at that. As for the third skill, there was no need to ntion it; Hans would most likely never have the chance to enjoy a second elite promotion.

Lothar had roughly calculated that to raise a 5-star retainer from level one to the max level of fifty, to the point where elite promotion was possible, would cost at least ten thousand Solidus gold coins.

After elite promotion, the retainer’s level would reset to zero, but their attributes would remain unchanged, allowing them to level up all over again.

If Hans had truly been released as a 5-Star retainer when the ga was launched in his previous life, he would definitely have claid the throne of the weakest 5-Star.

Gacha gas always set up a minimum system, for example, guaranteeing a five-star card after x number of draws or sothing like that. So because of that putting Hans in the card pool to make up the numbers, would dampen players’ enthusiasm for drawing cards and continuing the ga. But can a gacha mobile ga, that didn’t force players to spend their hard earned money, still be called a gacha ga?

Lothar looked up and down at Hans, whose temperant had drastically changed. The once gentle and handso knight had now been replaced by a terrifying werewolf more than two ters tall. Such an appearance, in a gacha ga where heroes were judged by their looks, was definitely a derit.

"How do you feel?"

Hans’s voice was sowhat hoarse. "Alright. Though the transformation process was a bit painful, it’s much better now. Milord, I feel like I’m full of power now! I could knock down a bull with one punch! It’s truly astonishing! I feel like even my forr ntor, a master in the Knightly Order, would be no match for now."

Lothar praised, "Your compatibility with the werewolf bloodline is very high. You’ve fully unearthed the potential of this bloodline, achieving a breakthrough promotion to 5-star. Very good. But you must know that star-level only represents potential, not imdiate combat power. Your strength is a significant leap above a werewolf like Abelardo, but there are still many mysterious beings out there that you cannot yet deal with."

"I understand, Milord."

Just like that witch beside Count Leopold whom they had encountered earlier, who transford into a giant serpent in the dead of night and slithered through the small town. Although her aura seed to be on par with Banu’s, that was because Banu’s aura was linked to her combat power at her peak. If they truly fought, the current Banu would definitely be no match for that witch.

Actually, Lothar had always found sothing a bit incomprehensible. In this world, many witches had precedents of serving lords or cooperating with them to obtain spellcasting materials, money, and the like. But with witches possessing such terrifying power, had none of them ever thought of becoming an empress?

Even if they worried about the opposition from nobles and the Church being too great, they could still use witchcraft to control a king’s mind and beco a behind-the-scenes monarch.

"Change back." At Lothar’s command, the fur and proliferated flesh on Hans’s body gradually receded, revealing his human form once more.

He shyly covered his exposed parts, grabbing his surcoat with one hand and draping it over himself. "Thank goodness Milord had take off my surcoat beforehand."

’What are you doing making that shy expression?’ Lothar was rather speechless. ’Surely you don’t think I wanted to see you exposed?’

"Get out here! Let see who dares to occupy my hall!" Outside the door, the shout of a drunken, burly man sounded.

Banu looked coldly at this middle-aged man, who wore a red and white surcoat emblazoned with a brown bear emblem on the chest and had a truculent expression. "Halt!"

"Hey, where did a woman co from in the Knightly Order’s headquarters? Are you that new kid’s personal maidservant? I warn you, you’d best get out of the way! The great Count Philip has no habit of not hitting won!"

Fringilla, a smile on her face as if enjoying a good show, stepped aside. ’The big dummy’s temper wasn’t that good.’

"Hey, are you treating my words as wind by your ear?" The man calling himself Count Philip was spraying spittle, but Banu had no intention of wasting words on him. She raised the black triangular shield that never left her hand, took a step forward, and with a gentle exertion of force, sent him flying.

"Ouch, my..." Count Philip rolled twice on the ground. This jolt sobered him up considerably. He only felt as if his body had fallen apart, aching everywhere.

He was just about to spew profanities when he suddenly realized sothing and forcibly swallowed the vulgar words that were on the tip of his tongue. He asked tentatively, "A witch?"

Banu ignored him, rely repeating, "Without Milord’s permission, no one may enter."

’Bang.’ The door was pushed open. Lothar walked out with Hans. He looked the other man up and down, his tone sowhat unfriendly. "Commander, I have been waiting for you for a long ti. Are you in such a hurry because you wish to report for duty?"

Count Philip retorted irritably, "Little whelp, your father still had to be respectful and reverent before ! Baron Godfrey also treats with great courtesy! What do you think you are, daring to have report to you?"

He felt that his choice of words, compared to his usual, was already quite refined. If not for the presence of a woman who looked like a witch standing opposite him, he would have already started cursing.

But Lothar gave him no face at all, saying coldly, "Commander Philip, I am the Grand Master of the Royal Knights. If you are willing to resign from the position of Commander imdiately, then indeed I have no authority to demand you report to . After all, you are a Count." He stepped aside from the door. "If you are willing, please co with . I will imdiately fetch the Inspector to handle the procedures for you."

Count Philip was thoroughly choked. He snorted coldly. "Lothar, I have been the Commander of the Royal Knights for five years! How long have you even been in the Holy Land? And you have the audacity to act like this?"

Lothar gave a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. "Count Philip, you are a vassal of the Emperor of Great Germania, not a vassal of His Majesty here. Do you truly think you are qualified to be Grand Master?"

Count Philip was at a loss for words. But to ask him to give up his fief in Great Germania—he was unwilling.

He wanted to resort to force, but then he glanced at Banu, standing silently beside Lothar, and lacked the courage. His face turned shades of green and white. Finally, he could only snort coldly. "We’ll see about that!" Then, he flicked his sleeve and stord off.

Fringilla, full of interest, sidled up to Hans, sniffed him, and said with a look of disgust, "So, in the end, it was you, little whelp, who beca a werewolf. But it’s fine, at least it wasn’t Milord." She then demanded, "Give so wolf blood. I want to research poison potions for werewolves."

Hans wanted to refuse, but Fringilla had long established an intimidating presence. He opened his mouth, intending to be firm, but the terrifying sense of threat he felt from her made him imdiately deflate. "Alright."

’Smack—’ Lothar lightly slapped Fringilla on the head. "Don’t bully Hans. You know he wasn’t originally a werewolf and has no feud with your Blood Court."
