“Enjoy your al,” she said with a smile in her voice.
Su Mingxuan nodded and handed a duck neck to Xiaong. She took it and bit in hungrily, looking like a full-on foodie.
“Slow down,” he said, helplessly.
In the Su family, etiquette was trained from a young age. But in front of him, Xiaong rarely followed the rules. No surprise—girls tended to drop their guard in front of soone they trusted.
“How is it? Tastes good?” he asked, smiling.
Xiaong glanced at him and huffed, “I’m still mad at you, Brother Mingxuan.”

Su Mingxuan picked up his porridge and took a sip. It had a light fragrance. They continued eating in silence for over ten minutes, the atmosphere oddly quiet.
Eventually, Xiaong leaned in slightly and whispered, “Brother Mingxuan… are you really getting married?”

“What’s wrong?” he asked while wiping his mouth.

Four Flowers of the Capital? When did that beco a thing?
Back when he was still in the capital, he hadn’t heard of any such title. But then again, after graduating high school he went overseas and had been studying abroad for years. He smiled at her and said, “Silly girl, even if I get married, you’ll always be my dear Xiaong. As long as you still call Brother Mingxuan, I’ll treat you well forever.”
“Really?” Her eyes sparkled like stars.
“Of course.”
“Then… you can’t lie to . I trust you more than anyone,” she said softly, eyes filled with watery light.
Just as Su Mingxuan was about to respond, a loud crash interrupted them.

Smash!
“You damn hag, I told you no money, no stall! Can’t you hear ?” a loud voice barked nearby.
Su Mingxuan frowned and looked over. A few tattooed thugs had gathered in front of the woman’s stall. The man leading them was pointing a finger at her, expression fierce.
Tables had been flipped, dishes shattered on the ground.
“I’m sorry, Brother Sheng… I only run the stall for two hours each night, just two hours… please…” the woman pleaded in a trembling voice.
“Fuck off!”
With that, Brother Sheng smashed her stall with an iron bar. Glass shattered instantly. The braised ats fell to the ground, scattered and ruined.
The woman looked at the ss and began to cry, hopeless and desperate.
Su Mingxuan: “…”
What’s this now? Woman plus street thugs? Are we really doing the cliché hero-rescues-beauty scene right now? Is a Fate Child about to show up?
