"Grandpa, let’s go to Rice Fragrance Village to buy so pastries. Master likes them," ng Wanning suggested.
"Sure." Chen Cheng looked at her dotingly, "Anything else you want to buy?"
ng Wanning thought for a mont, "Let’s also get a roast duck from Bianyifang. Mr. Jin likes it."
"No problem," Chen Cheng readily agreed.
The two of them first went to Rice Fragrance Village. The shop was bustling, and the air was filled with the tempting aroma of various pastries.
ng Wanning carefully picked out a few items that Cui Xiaoling loved, such as jujube flower pastries, hawthorn cakes, and sesa seed cakes, filling up a large box.
After leaving Rice Fragrance Village, the two then went to Bianyifang.
It was alti, so the place was naturally crowded.
ng Wanning waited in line for a long ti before she finally bought a freshly roasted duck.
She thought again, "We’re still missing so wine. We can’t be careless about the rituals."
"I bought so, Yanling Spring," Chen Cheng replied, "I went to buy it while you were in line."
ng Wanning nodded with a smile, "Let think...we also need..."
Chen Cheng patiently waited, and shortly after, she said, "We also need so new material!"
"Alright, let’s go to Ruifuxiang to pick so out."
"Okay!"
Ruifuxiang is a century-old brand in Beijing, known for its silk and fabric.
The store was filled with a dazzling array of fabrics in various colors and patterns.
ng Wanning finally chose two pieces of fine silk, one in deep blue and the other in rich red, perfect for Cui Xiaoling.
After buying the gifts, the two drove to Mountain Resort.
Along the way, ng Wanning was in a great mood, chatting with Chen Cheng and sharing funny stories from her childhood in the opera troupe.
By the ti they reached Mountain Resort, it was completely dark outside.
Jin Baogen and Cui Xiaoling were already waiting in the restaurant. They were very happy to see Chen Cheng and ng Wanning arrive with gifts.
"Master, Mr. Jin," ng Wanning walked in quickly, "I’ve co to wish you a Happy New Year."
Chen Cheng placed the purchases aside, "Mr. Jin, Aunt Cui."
Though Cui Xiaoling was happy, she still said, "You arrived so late; you’re becoming less and less punctual."
ng Wanning frowned slightly, but Jin Baogen smoothed things over, "Oh, good food doesn’t mind a late arrival! Besides, as long as it’s still January, the New Year isn’t really over."
He chuckled, "Xiao ng, your master is all bark and no bite, she’s been talking about you for ten days, just waiting for you to co."
Hearing Jin Baogen’s words ward ng Wanning’s heart. She knew Cui Xiaoling was all talk and no action, criticizing with her words but caring deeply inside.
"Master, I know I was wrong," she playfully clung to Cui Xiaoling’s arm, "I’ll definitely co earlier next ti."
Cui Xiaoling looked at ng Wanning, her wrinkles smoothing out as she gently patted her hand, "Good to know, don’t co so late next ti."
She turned to Chen Cheng, her tone softening, "You’ve worked hard, Chen Cheng, coming all the way here with Wan Ning."
"It’s my duty, Aunt Cui," Chen Cheng replied respectfully.
Jin Baogen invited them to sit, "Don’t all stand around, co sit down and eat, the dishes are getting cold."
The four of them sat around the table, which was laden with a lavish spread, from rare delicacies to simple ho-cooked dishes, all visually enticing and inviting to the palate.
ng Wanning opened the pastries from Rice Fragrance Village and handed them to Cui Xiaoling, "Master, these are pastries from Rice Fragrance Village. Try so."
Cui Xiaoling picked up a piece of jujube flower pastry and took a bite, praising it endlessly, "Mmm, it’s so delicious! Wan Ning, you know my taste best."
ng Wanning also presented the Bianyifang roast duck to Jin Baogen, "Mr. Jin, here’s a roast duck from Bianyifang. Try it."
Jin Baogen picked up a piece of duck, didn’t bother with the sauce or pancake, and savored it carefully, nodding repeatedly, "Mmm, not bad, not bad. The skin is crispy, the at tender, and full of flavor."
Cui Xiaoling asked, "Xiao Ning, how was Hainan?"
"It was fun," ng Wanning replied, "It was my first ti seeing the ocean, and I went on a yacht and watched the sunset."
"Wow, a yacht at sunset, that sounds romantic," Cui Xiaoling teased, her eyes suggestively glancing back and forth between Chen Cheng and ng Wanning.
ng Wanning’s cheeks blushed slightly as she shyly looked down, "Master..."
Chen Cheng noticed and playfully chid in, "Yes, Aunt Cui, the scenery in Hainan is indeed beautiful; we’ll have to take you and Mr. Jin there soti."
"Great, that would be wonderful," Jin Baogen said with a hearty laugh, "You better make the perfect arrangents."
"No problem!" Chen Cheng assured.
Laughter and cheerful chatter filled the al, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.
ng Wanning reported to Jin Baogen and Cui Xiaoling about her recent work progress and future plans. They listened intently, offering suggestions and guidance from ti to ti.
"Xiao Ning," Jin Baogen spoke sincerely, "Now that you’ve been on the Spring Festival Gala and beco a mainstay at the theater, keep striving for excellence and aim for greater progress.
But rember, don’t let pride get the best of you; always maintain a humble and cautious attitude."
"I understand, Mr. Jin."
Cui Xiaoling added, "Xiao Ning, your voice is naturally exceptional; you must protect it well, and don’t overuse it. Now that you’ve moved out, take care with your diet and avoid spicy and irritating foods."
She paused, then added, "Also, young won need to take care of themselves, don’t neglect it just because you’re young. Look at you, you’ve lost weight; you need to eat more." She said, placing a piece of rib into ng Wanning’s bowl.
ng Wanning felt the warmth of her ntor’s care, "I’ll take care, Master."
