A week passed in the blink of an eye, and Wen Shulin was recovering well.

Today is the day to be discharged from the hospital, and Wen Shulin is in the bathroom, drawing her eyebrows in front of the mirror.

The surgical wound doesn’t hurt as much, but her face is still sowhat pale. She uses foundation to cover the faint marks, then applies a layer of light blush to make herself look more spirited.

Chen Cheng leans against the door, quietly watching her, his eyes full of tenderness.

"Why did you suddenly think of putting on makeup? I didn’t see you caring about this usually."

Wen Shulin purses her lipstick in front of the mirror, turns her head to smile at Chen Cheng, "Today’s discharge day, after all; I must greet new life in the best state."

She pauses, "I also want you to see at my best, not just rember the frail when I was ill."

Chen Cheng walks over, "In my eyes, every version of you is beautiful. But seeing you regain your spirit, I’m very happy too."

"It’s all thanks to your careful care."

Wen Shulin was right; during this week, Chen Cheng kept his word.

Whether it’s helping her wash, feeding her, he took care of every detail, being extrely considerate, giving Wen Shulin enough respect.

"It’s my duty," Chen Cheng leaves a kiss on her forehead, "the days ahead are long, I’ll be by your side."

"Seems you still like like this." Wen Shulin teased, "You haven’t kissed these past days, and today just with makeup, you couldn’t resist."

"Oh, listen to you! Wasn’t I afraid you couldn’t resist?"

"Oh, really?"

Just when the two were teasing each other, the ward door was knocked on.

Huang Zirong walked in, "Ms. Wen, how do you feel today? Are you ready to be discharged?"

"Good morning, Director Huang. I feel much better, thank you for your care."

Huang Zirong nods with a smile, routinely checks Wen Shulin’s wound and physical condition,

"You’ve recovered well, you can be discharged. Be sure to rest when you get ho, avoid strenuous activities, and eat light."

She emphasizes, "Also, it’s best to wait for your next nstrual cycle before engaging in marital life."

Wen Shulin firmly rembers the ti point, "Okay, thank you, Director Huang."

"Mr. Chen,"

Huang Zirong turns to look at Chen Cheng, "Ms. Wen’s postoperative recovery period may be emotionally unstable, you need to pay more attention, give her more care and companionship."

Chen Cheng seriously nods, "I will, Dr. Huang, thank you for your hard work during this ti."

After everyone left, Chen Cheng also packed the suitcase.

"Shall we go?" He extends his hand to Wen Shulin, and Wen Shulin naturally holds his hand, asking, "Is everything packed?"

"Yes! All in the suitcase."

Wen Shulin asks again, "What about that thing?"

"What?"

"The thing that was removed."

Chen Cheng smiles and says, "I saw you didn’t want to take it that day, so I handled it."

"Threw it away?" Wen Shulin frowns.

Seeing her like this, Chen Cheng doesn’t tease her anymore, "No, I kept it, why?"

Wen Shulin gives him a playful glance, "That’s good. Let’s go."

"Where to? Ho?"

Wen Shulin releases his hand, beckoning, "Co with to a place."

Chen Cheng pulls the suitcase, follows behind Wen Shulin, curiously asking, "Where are we going? So mysterious."

Wen Shulin turns back with a charming smile, her eyes sparkling with a light Chen Cheng had never seen before, "You’ll know when we get there."

...

...

East Fuxing Road, the dock.

Wen Shulin went to buy two ferry tickets.

Just boarding the ship, the winter wind pours into the neck.

Chen Cheng actually already guessed what Wen Shulin wants to do, but he didn’t say, just takes off his coat and puts it on her, "You just got discharged, don’t catch a cold."

Wen Shulin nods with a smile, "Thank you, husband."

The ferry slowly leaves the dock, the river glittered, the shores gradually drift away.

In the distance, the Oriental Pearl Tower stands tall, on the boat, Wen Shulin pulls Chen Cheng to the stern.

"Give it to ," she says to Chen Cheng.

Chen Cheng takes out the plastic bag and hands it to her.

Wen Shulin takes out the thing that shackled her for half of her life, clenching it tightly, feeling the cold touch.

At this mont, all sorts of mories surge up, there’s pain, helplessness, and struggle.

"This thing, shackled for too long," Wen Shulin trembles, yet incomparably firm, "Today, I’m going to say goodbye to the past completely and start anew."

Saying this, she raises her arm, using all her strength, throws the Titanium Alloy Ring towards the Huangpu River.

The tal ring traces a parabolic curve, flashing in the air, finally falls into the river, creating a small splash, then quickly disappears, as if it never existed.

Wen Shulin exhales a long breath, like shedding a heavy burden, feeling much lighter.

Chen Cheng stands quietly beside her, watching her every move, his heart filled with emotion.

He knows this mont is significant for Wen Shulin, she finally completely freed from the shadow of the past, ushering in a new life.

He embraces her, "Everything is over, the days ahead, I’ll always be with you, protecting you."

Wen Shulin looks up at him, a crystal tear falls from the corner of her eye.

This tear, not sadness, but joy, relief, and longing for the future.

She points at the Citibank Building once lit up by Chen Cheng, saying:

"Chen Cheng, this is where you confessed to . Let’s restart from here, shall we?"

Chen Cheng wipes away the tears on her face, "Okay."

Wen Shulin smiles openly, she solemnly extends her hand to Chen Cheng, "Hello, Mr. Chen."
