The following day, sunlight filtered through the window lattice into the room, and i Xiang slowly opened her eyes.

She hadn’t really slept much throughout the night, yet she didn’t feel exhausted, but rather experienced an unprecedented sense of relaxation.

She got up and picked out an autumn-winter outfit from her suitcase.

A beige woolen knitted sweater with a bit of lace around the neckline, a cal-colored corduroy A-line skirt, just knee-length.

To fend off the chill of Beijing’s deep autumn, she had purposefully put on a scarf, slanted, both warm and playfully cute.

Walking out of the room, she took a deep breath of the crisp air. The courtyard had several tall trees, their leaves beginning to yellow and gently swaying in the autumn wind.

i Xiang passed through the arch that led to the main courtyard and imdiately saw Xiao ier busily working in the kitchen.

She hesitated for a mont, but then walked over.

"Good morning, Sister Er," i Xiang softly said.

Xiao ier turned around, her face instantly beaming with a brilliant smile upon seeing i Xiang: "i Xiang, good morning! Did you sleep well?"

"Mm, I slept very well."

"That’s good," Xiao ier pointed at the dining table, "Go take a seat, breakfast will be ready soon."

i Xiang glanced at the table not far away, where three sets of bowls and chopsticks had already been placed. She didn’t obey and sit down, but instead went over to Xiao ier’s side,

"Sister Er, is there anything I can help with?"

"It’s almost ready." Xiao ier said with a smile: "Soy milk, deep-fried dough sticks, buns, millet porridge, not sure if they’ll suit your taste."

i Xiang looked at the steaming stear, slling the fragrance, "Sister Er, do you make breakfast for Brother Cheng every day?"

Xiao ier was very deft; as she stir-fried the small pickles, she said: "As long as he’s ho, I will make it."

"Xiao Cheng’s stomach isn’t good, and he often drinks," Xiao ier sighed, "Outside food isn’t clean, it’s better to be assured by making it myself."

Listening to Xiao ier’s explanation, i Xiang recalled how when Chen Cheng was in Japan, she wasn’t very good at it, could only buy sandwiches from the convenience store the night before, and heat them up in the microwave the next day for Chen Cheng.

A sense of guilt surged in her heart; she felt what she did was far from enough.

"Eh? What’s wrong?"

i Xiang quickly shook her head, squeezing out a smile: "It’s nothing, Sister Er, I just... think you’re really good to Brother Cheng."

Xiao ier chuckled, "It’s only right to be good to him. This whole family relies on him, you know."

i Xiang nodded firmly; she was well aware that her current leisure ti also rested entirely on Chen Cheng’s shoulders.

"Mm, Brother Cheng is quite impressive."

"Yes, our life wasn’t this comfortable before, it’s all thanks to Chen Cheng." Xiao ier spoke with pride,

"Wanbao Hall, the milk tea shop, even the basketball court, all earned by Chen Cheng himself."

As she spoke, the smile at the corner of her mouth grew broader, "Sotis I wonder, how can there be such incredible n in this world?"

i Xiang watched the happiness and pride overflowing on Xiao ier’s face and also felt joyous for Chen Cheng.

"I don’t have any other skills, just making him breakfast, hoping he can eat a bit better," Xiao ier turned around and said with a smile.

i Xiang smiled faintly, "Sister Er, you’re really too good to Brother Cheng."

"It’s okay, taking care of one’s own man, of course, you’ve got to pamper him."

After saying this, Xiao ier filled a plate with the pickles and i Xiang volunteered to take the plate, brought it close to her nose to sll, "It slls so good~! What dish is this?"

"This is pickled mustard greens," Xiao ier took off her apron, "i Xiang, you start eating, I’m going to wake Xiao Cheng."

i Xiang nodded slightly, "Then I’ll wait for you two."

Xiao ier hurried out of the kitchen and into the bedroom.

Chen Cheng also hadn’t slept very soundly last night.

The arrival of i Xiang filled him with restless dreams; the longing to live under the sa roof had beco a reality last night.

Xiao ier had just gotten to the bedside when Chen Cheng groggily opened his eyes.

"Awake?" Xiao ier asked with a smile.

Chen Cheng propped himself up, "Mm."

Xiao ier pinched Chen Cheng’s face, "Hurry and wash up, breakfast is ready. Didn’t you say you had sothing to do today?"

Chen Cheng got out of bed, "Yeah, a little sothing. I have to go express my thanks after all the help big sister has given ."

"That’s true, no wonder i Xiang got up so early too."

Xiao ier sorted her makeup, as she too needed to go to Wanbao Hall later.

"She got up that early?" Chen Cheng headed for the bathroom.

"Yes, she even asked earlier if there was anything she could help with in preparing breakfast, quite diligent she is."

Chen Cheng nodded, yet thought to himself, i Xiang’s gentleness and thoughtfulness indeed made her endearing to people.

"I’m going to freshen up."

"All right, we’ll wait for you in the dining room."

"You two eat first."

Soon after, Chen Cheng, having cleaned up, also arrived at the dining room.

i Xiang was already talking with Xiao ier, and seeing the smiles on their faces, Chen Cheng also walked over smiling.

"What are you discussing?"

Upon hearing Chen Cheng’s voice, i Xiang imdiately put down her chopsticks and stood up, "Good morning, Brother Cheng."

Chen Cheng slightly arched his eyebrows, Xiao ier laughed and held her arm, "No need to be so formal, why stand up?"

i Xiang was stamring for a while, Chen Cheng waved his hand, "Xiao Er is just teasing you. Let’s eat."

The three of them sat down at one table, and Xiao ier served Chen Cheng a bowl of millet porridge.

"Rember not to show up empty-handed when you go see big sister later," Xiao ier reminded him.

Chen Cheng nodded, "I’ll think about what to bring."

"Yesterday, the shop got so large sea cucumbers and fish maw, why not bring so of that?"

Xiao ier advised, "They’re all local products, big sister will find them reassuring to keep."

"Okay, I’ll pick them up from the shop later."

i Xiang quietly ate her bun, looking up, "Brother Cheng, is that the big sister you called on the phone?"
