Chapter 496: Chapter 286: Return to the Country_2
“We’ll give them rice then!” i Xiang said, smiling happily.
Chen Cheng stood up, “That’s it, let’s go out for a walk.”
The autumn in Gunma Prefecture has its own unique flavor. Leaves fall brightly colored, creating a patchwork that adorns the mountains with a golden coat.
The crisp air was tinged with a hint of farewell. i Xiang knew too that this was her last visit here with Chen Cheng before returning to their holand.
Still, she tried not to let Chen Cheng see her thoughts, putting on a brave face as she looped her arm through his for a stroll down the country lane.
“Brother Cheng, look, the maple leaves over there are so red!”
i Xiang pointed to a fiery red maple forest on a distant hillside with an excited tone.
Following her gaze, Chen Cheng saw the forest ablaze with color, like a roaring fla that looked especially dazzling under the autumn sun.
“It’s beautiful,” he said sincerely, “Let’s go take a closer look.”
They walked along the winding mountain road towards the maple forest.
Along the way, i Xiang, like a child, hopped and skipped, occasionally picking up fallen leaves to closely examine their texture and color.
“Brother Cheng, look at this maple leaf, doesn’t it look just like a butterfly about to take flight?” i Xiang held it in her palm and pointed at one particular leaf.
The leaf did indeed resemble a butterfly ready to take flight. i Xiang blew on it gently, and the leaf started to tremble and drift in the air, twirling slightly as it rose.
i Xiang watched the dancing leaf, a glint of wistfulness in her eyes.
She knew this would be the last ti she could admire the enchanting autumn scenery of her holand.
About to leave this land for a foreign country, her heart was a mix of emotions—eagerness for the future intertwined with nostalgia for the past.
Chen Cheng could hear the reluctance hidden within her cheerful tone, “If you want to co back in the future, we’ll co back, okay?”
i Xiang paused, then lifted her head to look at Chen Cheng, “Really?”
Chen Cheng smiled gently: “Of course, this place is not only your hotown but also our ho.”
“You’ve only shown the brilliance of the maple forest, but I haven’t seen the delicate beauty of plum blossoms, the graceful weeping willows by the pond, or the golden fields bathed in sunlight in autumn,” he continued.
i Xiang threw herself into Chen Cheng’s arms and hugged him tightly, tears silently rolling down her cheeks.
“Brother Cheng, you’ll be good to , right?”
Chen Cheng caressed her head, “I will always be good to you.”
He cupped i Xiang’s face and wiped away the tears, “No matter where we are in the future, I will give you a ho of your own.”
i Xiang broke into a smile, nodding, “Okay!”
…
…
That evening, i Xiang brought over a photo album to Chen Cheng.
“Brother Cheng, take a look at this.”
Chen Cheng propped himself up, “What’s this?”
i Xiang opened the album.
Inside were pictures: her adorable childhood image, a warm family portrait, and her youthful photos from her student days…
Chen Cheng took the album with interest, flipping through it page by page.
Each photo docunted little monts of i Xiang’s growth and carried her precious mories.
“This was taken on my fifth birthday,”
i Xiang pointed to a photo showing her in a pink princess dress with a birthday hat and holding a big cake, her smile particularly sweet, “That day, Mom and Dad took to the amusent park and I had so much fun.”
Chen Cheng looked at the photo of little i Xiang in her innocence and couldn’t help but smile slightly, “So cute,”
He said with a chuckle, “You’ve been beautiful since you were little.”
i Xiang felt a bit embarrassed by his complint, her cheeks turning rosy.
“This was when I graduated from elentary school,” i Xiang pointed to another photo.
In the picture, she was in her graduation outfit, posing with classmates at the school gate, her face full of youthful vigor, “Back then, my friends and I promised to get into the sa university together.”
Chen Cheng looked at the energetic i Xiang in the photo, realizing that these photos were not just her mories, but also a part of her life.
“This is from high school when I was participating in club activities,” i Xiang continued flipping through the album, pointing at a picture.
She was in her club uniform, holding a microphone, performing on stage with other club mbers, “I wanted to be a big star back then!”
Chen Cheng laughed, “Why didn’t you beco one?”
i Xiang stuck out her tongue, “They said I couldn’t sing well…”
“Hahaha.”
And so, page by page, photograph by photograph, Chen Cheng and i Xiang reminisced about the past together.
Flipping to the last page of the photo album, there was a photo of Chen Cheng taken by i Xiang.
This was sothing Chen Cheng hadn’t expected.
“This is…”
Chen Cheng looked at the himself in the photo, it was taken by i Xiang the last ti he ca to help her with the scarecrow.
i Xiang cuddled into Chen Cheng’s embrace, her finger tracing the him in the picture, “This is the man I love most.”
She lifted her eyes to look at Chen Cheng, filled with deep affection, “I never thought I would et soone as kind to as you.”
Chen Cheng hugged i Xiang a little tighter, “Little i Xiang is about to cry again.”
“No, I’m not.” i Xiang sniffed, closing the album, “I leave the coming days in your hands.”
“No need to leave them to , from now on, we will create new mories together, mories even more beautiful than these photos.”
“Yes! Together!”
The two embraced, the room very quiet, with only the rustling sound of the autumn wind outside the window, as well as the sound of each other’s heartbeats.
…
…
After returning to Tokyo, Chen Cheng took i Xiang to the chamber of comrce again.
But this ti, i Xiang was holding a bag of rice in her arms.
Ms. Bai greeted them warmly as usual, “Mr. Chen, congratulations to you.”
Chen Cheng smiled, “I’m still thankful to Ms. Bai for her righteous help.”
“How about it? When will you return to the country?” Ms. Bai invited them to sit down.
“This afternoon’s flight.” Chen Cheng replied and gave i Xiang a look.
i Xiang placed the rice respectfully before Ms. Bai, “Ms. Bai, this is rice I planted myself, a small token, please accept it.”
Clearly, this was the first ti Ms. Bai had received such a gift.
“President Xingye also grows rice?” she asked with surprise.
i Xiang nodded shyly, “Actually, I grew up in the countryside since childhood, and planting rice also consisted of helping out the family during the busy farming season, it’s nothing much.”
She paused, then added, “This bag of rice is newly harvested this year, I wanted to bring so for Ms. Bai to taste fresh, and also to thank you for your help during this period.”
Ms. Bai smiled faintly at this simple yet heartfelt gift, “Thank you, I really like it.”
i Xiang was very happy, she knew following Chen Cheng’s advice was never wrong.
Ms. Bai turned her eyes to Chen Cheng, “Mr. Chen, you’re bringing Ms. i Xiang back to the country, how do you plan to settle her in?”
“First, I’ll take her to relax a bit.” Chen Cheng replied, “These past days, she’s been too tense.”
He paused, looking at i Xiang tenderly, “Wait until she adjusts well, then see what else to do.”
“That’s indeed a nice arrangent, i Xiang is lucky to have t a good man like you.”
i Xiang leaned on Chen Cheng’s shoulder, smiling happily.
The three chatted cordially for a while, and then Ms. Bai stood up, “So, Mr. Chen, shall we et in Beijing?”
Chen Cheng nodded with a smile, “I await your esteed visit.”
The two left the chamber of comrce, got into the car, and headed straight for the airport.
i Xiang held Chen Cheng’s hand tightly, looking at the receding cityscape outside the car window, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
Whether it’s Tokyo or Gunma, it was now ti to say goodbye.
Once, she thought she would guard Xingye Products for a lifeti, protecting this legacy left by her family.
However, life is unpredictable, and in just a few months, she experienced life’s great ups and downs, and ultimately made the decision to leave.
But she did not regret it.
Because she knew that compared to Xingye Products, finding her own happiness was more important.
The appearance of Chen Cheng was like a beam of light, illuminating her once-dim life, giving her new hope and direction.
“Brother Cheng,” i Xiang turned her head, “thank you.”
Chen Cheng wrapped his arm around her shoulder, “Don’t ntion thanks, I will always be here.”
i Xiang’s eyes turned slightly red, she nodded and rested her head gently on Chen Cheng’s shoulder.
After arriving at the airport, the two completed the check-in procedures smoothly and boarded the flight to Beijing.
The plane took off, soaring into the clouds.
i Xiang watched the city shrink outside the window, her heart filled with reluctance, but also full of anticipation.
She knew that in the new place, what awaited her was a brand-new life.
