Chapter 201: Chapter 171: eting i Xiang Again_2

Chen Cheng nodded and said, “Then you change first.”

He then instructed Tong Jialu, “Xiao Lu, go see if there are incense donations nearby.”

Tong Jialu humd in acknowledgnt, then got out of the car.

Xiao Hai opened the trunk, and it was only then that Chen Cheng took the clothes arranged by Xiao ier from the luggage and went back to the car.

There were no conditions for ironing, so he just changed into them.

Fifteen minutes later, Tong Jialu returned.

She handed a white envelope to Xia Yubing, who rubbed the newly exchanged bills a few tis before placing them inside and then handing it over to Chen Cheng.

“We just need to wait now,” she said composedly. “Xiao Lu and I will not get out of the car later; our attire isn’t quite suitable.”

Chen Cheng rembered a movie he had watched, then looked at Tong Jialu in her ultra-short skirt and Xia Yubing dressed in a sundress, indeed seeming inappropriate for the occasion.

“Okay,” Chen Cheng nodded in agreent, then said to Chen Donghai, “Let’s back the car up a bit.”

Ti passed, second by second, as Chen Cheng sat in the car, occasionally looking out the window.

Around 7 p.m., a black rcedes slowly drove up and stopped at the front of the house.

When the car door opened, i Xiang got out first, dressed in a black kimono and wearing a small white flower. Her face was pale and tired, a stark contrast to her radiant appearance a few days ago at the horse event.

The four people in the car watched as she held a round urn at the doorway, said sothing, and then entered the house.

“Shall I go in first?” Chen Cheng secured the incense money, his hand on the doorknob.

Xia Yubing and Tong Jialu nodded in agreent, Xia Yubing said, “We’ll wait for you.”

Chen Cheng took a deep breath and got out of the car.

He straightened his suit and walked towards the house.

As i Xiang had just entered and people from the funeral ho were arriving to set up, Chen Cheng blended into the crowd without drawing much attention.

He followed the footsteps of the staff and entered the house.

i Xiang knelt on the tatami, holding the urn in her arms.

Her eyes were vacant, all her light had dissipated with the death of Osuke Xingye.

The interior was simply yet solemnly decorated, with a morial altar displaying a portrait of Osuke Xingye, whose gentle smile in the photo starkly contrasted the heavy atmosphere.

The air was filled with a faint scent of incense and an indescribable sense of mourning.

Chen Cheng carefully approached, making as little noise as possible.

Yet i Xiang still sensed a stranger’s presence and slowly lifted her head, her eyes widening in surprise when she saw it was Chen Cheng.

“Mr. Chen…” her voice was low and hoarse.

Chen Cheng bowed slightly as a sign of respect.

He then brought out the prepared incense money, “Miss i Xiang, I heard about your father’s passing, my condolences.”

i Xiang nodded slightly, her eyes reddening but she struggled to hold back her tears.

“Thank you, Mr. Chen.”

Chen Cheng stood back up, “I couldn’t reach you these past few days; Shulin and I were worried. She is busy with work, so I ca instead.”

i Xiang staggered to her feet, “Mr. Chen, I’m sorry. My father’s death was sudden, and there were various issues in the company to handle, so I left without saying goodbye…”

She bowed deeply, “I am really sorry!”

Chen Cheng replied, “Don’t say that, I understand your situation. The most important thing now is to take care of yourself.”

Seeing i Xiang unable to hold back her tears, he added, “When my parents passed away, I almost didn’t pull through either.”

Chen Cheng held i Xiang’s arm, continuing, “At that ti, it felt like the sky had fallen, I didn’t know what to do next, and felt so empty inside.”

“But later on, I understood that although they are no longer here, they certainly hope I can continue to live well, carrying their expectations forward. i Xiang, I believe your father hopes the sa for you.”

i Xiang looked up at Chen Cheng with tearful eyes.

Chen Cheng continued, “You might feel it is tough right now, but you are not alone.”

“I believe your father’s spirit in heaven will also bless and give you strength and courage. And your family’s business, built by your ancestors, also needs your strong protection and growth, right?”

i Xiang bit her lip and nodded slightly.

“The pain of losing a loved one is beyond what words can soothe. But believe, ti will slowly take away that piercing pain, leaving behind endless mories and beautiful reminiscences.”

Chen Cheng paused, then gently said, “I have also experienced such darkness, but it was those mories of smiles that gave strength, allowing to stand up again.”

i Xiang slightly tilted her head, tears finally impossible to hold back, dripping onto the urn she held tightly—drip, drop.

These days, she had been enduring in silence.

As the sole daughter of the Xingye family, she had no one to confide in.

Chen Cheng’s presence was like a ray of light shining into her dreary life.

She sobbed, “But I’m just so sad, it feels like suddenly, I’ve lost all my support.”

“Miss i Xiang, you are not alone. You still have friends, and people who care about you.”

Chen Cheng slowly said, “Also, life always has two sides. Perhaps you feel now that the road ahead is dark and you are alone.”

“But please believe, soon a new light will illuminate your world.”

“You will et new friends, experience new things, and possibly discover so possibilities you never imagined.”

i Xiang stopped her tears, looking up at Chen Cheng’s warm smile, “Thank you, Mr. Chen.”
