Chapter 775: Chapter 775: The Guy Who Made a Reservation
Jiangli responded with a sound of approval, and Xia Xin’s footsteps began from outside the door, growing fainter and fainter as he walked away.
Jiangli lowered her head to glance at her hands. For a mont, she felt a sense of distraction; the sunlight resting on her hands seed almost like a layer of thick liquid.
Jiangli shut her eyes—only a piercing light remained on her hands.
A gentle exhale, and Jiangli got up to wash.
…
Xia Xin had set the al in the side hall and, after waiting a few minutes, saw Jiangli co in.
“Ancestor, co and eat,” Xia Xin called out attentively upon seeing Jiangli.
Jiangli’s expression was as usual, nothing particularly noteworthy. She walked over, sat down at the table, and started to consu her porridge with a spoon.
Xia Xin also sat down.
Jiangli glanced up, “Where’s Fu’er?”
Xia Xin took a bite of his bun, “He’s already eaten. He’s outside attending to the pilgrims. A lot of them ca early today. I think many people now treat Jiaoyang Temple as a trending hotspot, coming here to check in as if it’s a social dia challenge—offering incense, taking lots of photos before leaving.”
Jiangli couldn’t help but look.
Catching her gaze, Xia Xin realized she might not understand and explained what “checking in” and a “trending hotspot” ant.
Jiangli understood and nodded, “That’s likely. There were many in the past who enjoyed making a quick visit to Jiaoyang Temple, similar to what you described as ‘checking in’ at a trending hotspot.”
Xia Xin hadn’t expected such interesting occurrences in the past. Seeing that Jiangli seed to be in a good mood, he asked her a few more questions about how her previous era compared to the present—was it better than now?
Jiangli chatted casually, “The present has its rits, and the past had its own. It’s hard to compare.”
Xia Xin was puzzled, “But now is definitely better than the past, isn’t it? With so much technological progress.”
Jiangli paused for a second, “I’ve forgotten, but the past still had its own charm.”
Seeing that she couldn’t articulate why and yet preferred the past, Xia Xin was about to suggest she saw it through rose-colored glasses.
Just then, his cellphone started ringing.
Xia Xin took out his phone and saw it was the young man from the previous appointnt calling.
Xia Xin hurriedly swallowed his food and said, “Ancestor, it might be that young man arriving.”
Jiangli continued eating at her own leisurely pace, “The one who wanted to make an appointnt yesterday?”
Xia Xin nodded, “Yes, that’s him. He introduced himself as Qin Yingjun.”
Jiangli raised an eyebrow, “Qin Yingjun? That’s a rather odd na.”
Xia Xin said, “People are called all sorts of nas these days. He’s probably arrived. You better finish quickly, Ancestor; I’ll go out and see, then bring him in. It’s chaotic outside; I’m worried he might not find his way.”
Jiangli made a sound of acknowledgnt.
Xia Xin picked up the porridge bowl on the table which was just the right temperature, gulped down two mouthfuls, and ran out to greet the visitor.
However, once he left, Jiangli stopped eating and didn’t continue.
…
Xia Xin ran outside and at the entrance, he saw a luxury car advancing slowly as if confirming the way.
Xia Xin raised an eyebrow, waited for a bit, and then cautiously waved his hand.
Soon after, the car window rolled down, and a young man popped his head out, looking at the sign behind Xia Xin with a delighted expression, “Is this Jiaoyang Temple? Are you… Master Xia Xin?”
Xia Xin nodded, “Yes, I’m Xia Xin. You must be Mr. Qin Yingjun, right?”
The young man imdiately breathed a sigh of relief and smiled broadly, “At last, I’ve found it.”
He parked his car on the side, got out, and couldn’t resist complaining, “I couldn’t find the way as soon as I drove in, I was afraid I got the wrong place.”
Xia Xin smiled, “This is the right place, let’s go inside. The Abbot is waiting for you.”
Qin Yingjun responded with a sound of approval and followed behind Xia Xin, heading inside.
As they walked toward the interior, Xia Xin asked, “You specifically set up an appointnt for today. Is there sothing important?”
Qin Yingjun tugged at the extravagant T-shirt he was wearing, turned to reveal the back of his neck, “I ca here to ask the Master to take a look—there’s sothing not quite right with this tattoo.”
