She sat to Jiangli’s right, facing away from the balcony. As she rubbed her hands, the long sleeves of her loungewear rolled up slightly, revealing her arm.
Jiangli’s eyes narrowed.
He Ruoi clasped her hands again and asked proactively, “What, what do you want to ask?”
ng Hongyao looked at Jiangli, Fu Shiyan, and the others.
Seeing that neither of them intended to speak, ng Hongyao could only begin the questioning herself.
“This ti, we are here for Wu Jianhan and the missing guests at your inn. I believe you already know so of this from the phone call.”
He Ruoi nodded, “I actually don’t know much about the missing guests at the inn, because I seldom go there. But I’ve heard my husband talk about it, and the police have co to our ho to ask questions before. Mostly, it’s my husband who answers. If you’re asking , you probably won’t learn much.”
ng Hongyao unconsciously glanced at Jiangli.
Upon hearing this, Jiangli directly asked He Ruoi, “Then I’ll ask sothing Mrs. Wu might know.”
He Ruoi replied cautiously, “You, you an?”
Jiangli said, “Your inn has a secret room, doesn’t it? Mrs. Wu should know about this, right?”
He Ruoi suddenly tightened her grip on her hands, her pupils dilated slightly, and she looked at Jiangli in shock, then at the others.
“How… do you know about it?”
From her words, it’s clear she knows about the secret room.
ng Hongyao imdiately asked, “Mrs. Wu, you know about that secret room?”
He Ruoi unconsciously rubbed the back of her hand, “It’s my family’s inn. Of course, I know what’s there…”
ng Hongyao pressed on, “What’s the story with that secret room? Your family runs an inn, so why build such a secret room?”
He Ruoi imdiately replied, “We didn’t build that secret room; it already existed.”
Jiangli frowned, “It already existed?”
He Ruoi nodded slowly, “Yes, it already existed… That inn wasn’t originally an inn, but an adventure site for a murder mystery ga. A few years ago, things like secret rooms and murder mystery gas were quite popular. Many people were doing it around here, but the trend faded quickly. Over the past two years, many shop owners couldn’t keep up and transferred their shops…”
He Ruoi explained that their inn took over a shop during that ti. The area was full of inns and a comrcial street in the scenic spot.
They thought opening an inn would surely be profitable.
So, they remodeled and started an inn.
“Then why was the secret room kept?” ng Hongyao asked, puzzled.
He Ruoi explained, “We remodeled the rooms on the ground, but the secret room underground was quite large, and it goes downward, not taking up ground space. After renovation, it ended up behind the study. We thought about keeping it for a storage room.”
“But, the secret room I saw didn’t look like a storage room at all. It’s empty inside, except for a few cabinets, it doesn’t seem like a storage room,” Jiangli said, scrutinizing He Ruoi calmly.
He Ruoi said, “It used to be a storage room, but later my husband said the humidity control down there wasn’t good, making it easy to get damp. So, my husband took the things out and placed them in the storage room above ground. The secret room below ended up empty. My husband and I planned to remodel it again later, but before we could, the incident happened.”
Upon hearing this, Jiangli emphasized, “Your husband deliberately took everything out?”
He Ruoi was taken aback, “What do you an by deliberately?”
