"Ancestor, Fu, what are you looking for?"
Xia Xin, coming down from upstairs, clung to the door fra and poked his head out as Jiangli and Fu Shiyan were inspecting the study.
Seeing that they seed to have found sothing, Xia Xin looked at them eagerly.
Jiangli glanced at him, continued tapping on the partition, and asked, "How’s the investigation going?"
Xia Xin walked in, "Found nothing. I tead up with Qing Yue and didn’t see anything. Qing Yue has now gone to the kitchen and keeps looking into the pots. I have no idea what he’s thinking."
Recalling the earlier mont with Qing Yue, Xia Xin rembered how Qing Yue kept checking the stove and the fridge, as if there should be sothing inside.
Fortunately, nothing was found.
While Qing Yue was still checking, Xia Xin heard so noise from this side and ca over directly.
"Have you studied chanism Array?" Jiangli ignored Xia Xin’s jab at Qing Yue and asked.
Xia Xin awkwardly scratched his head, "No... My master just gave the books of Lu Ban and Mozi, but they’re in classical Chinese, and I didn’t understand a word. I asked my master, but he just told to go with the flow..."
Jiangli clicked his tongue.
Ouyang Min, that old guy, really wasn’t attentive in training.
But the old Taoist was gone.
Jiangli decided not to complain about the old Taoist in front of Xia Xin, and simply said, "Study well when you get back."
Xia Xin responded imdiately, "Okay!"
"Dong—"
At this mont, a hollow, crisp echo ca from where Jiangli was tapping.
Jiangli paused his hand movents.
Fu Shiyan took a step closer to Jiangli upon hearing the abnormal sound, "Is there a false layer?"
"The sound suggests there is a hollow layer."
Jiangli glanced up and down the planks, "It seems like there must be a chanism entrance."
Xia Xin, upon hearing this, imdiately said, "A chanism? Is it like the ones in TV shows where the chanism is a book or a vase or sothing?"
Jiangli was a bit surprised, "They have that in TV shows?"
Xia Xin said, "Yeah! Ancestor, haven’t you seen it?"
Jiangli: "..."
She really hadn’t seen it.
She usually watched short videos or ani.
Xia Xin, noticing Jiangli didn’t respond, wasn’t bothered and beca excited, fully engrossed in flipping through the books on the shelves.
Jiangli saw this and chuckled, "Even if there is a book chanism, it shouldn’t be on a shelf that far away; it should be nearby."
Xia Xin nodded blankly, "Right, makes sense—"
He then ran forward again, his excitent adding to his energy, flipping through book after book.
Just after he flipped through a few books, bang—
A light sound suddenly echoed.
Following that, the bookshelf in front of Jiangli creaked open from the middle, sliding to the sides.
Xia Xin turned red with excitent, "It’s open, it’s open! Holy crap, the TV shows were right! I really found the chanism!"
Jiangli was a bit surprised.
"The person who designed such a chanism must not be ordinary."
After the bookshelf completely opened, what was revealed was a narrow passageway.
Seeing this, Jiangli said, "I’ll go take a look inside."
Fu Shiyan imdiately said, "Together."
Xia Xin’s eyes lit up and he quickly raised his hand, "I want to go too!"
Jiangli said, "Soone should stay on..."
"What’s happening here?"
Before Jiangli could finish speaking, Bai Changfeng and Zhu Ming arrived upon hearing the commotion.
Upon arrival, they discovered a hidden compartnt.
Bai Changfeng exclaid, "Abbot, is this a secret passage you discovered...?"
Jiangli nodded, "Yes, just about to go down and take a look. You ca just in ti."
