Bai Changfeng recalled the vague words of the elder and beca alert. Together with Jiangli, he entered Tangjia Village, wading through the weeds, and inspected the area.

The village was full of the scent of decay and desolation, without any other trace.

Jiangli turned on his heel and directly headed up the mountain.

Minshan was not small; Bai Changfeng and Jiangli walked for an entire afternoon, roughly covering only half of it.

Bai Changfeng began to feel exhausted, seeing Jiangli’s calm deanor, he dared not complain, gritting his teeth, he followed behind Jiangli.

But before long, he truly couldn’t continue and sheepishly suggested, "Abbot, why don’t we rest for a bit? Minshan is so vast, searching aimlessly like this is pointless!"

Jiangli halted, surveyed the surroundings, and said, "Forget it, let’s head back."

Bai Changfeng had been ready to persevere, so when he heard Jiangli suddenly change his mind, he was surprised, "Huh? Going back now?"

Jiangli nodded, "We can’t find anything imdiately; it’s better to wait for the night. So things prefer to co out at night."

Upon hearing this, Bai Changfeng’s heart skipped a beat, "Does the Abbot know sothing?"

Jiangli turned expressionlessly to descend the mountain, "I have no idea, just a wild guess."

Bai Changfeng watched Jiangli’s back, feeling certain that Jiangli knew sothing.

He frowned in self-doubt, recalling his teacher’s order to bring Jiangli here, wondering about its true purpose.

Master Qu Lin had once told Pei Jiu that after this event, Jiangli’s identity could be confird.

Confirm what identity?

By what thods?

Bai Changfeng had asked but never received answers from his teacher.

He always felt there was sothing fishy.

...

When Jiangli and Bai Changfeng returned to Qiu’s village, Xia Xin had already tidied up the courtyard a little.

This yard had been abandoned for a long ti, overgrown with weeds and littered with cobwebs, the grass taller than Xia Xin himself.

The house was in its original state, long dilapidated beyond repair, utterly impossible to clean.

Xia Xin could only clear a path through the weeds in the courtyard and sweep the inside a bit.

But he couldn’t do much more.

When Jiangli and Bai Changfeng returned, he was outside the courtyard, pondering deeply with worry if they were really going to stay here.

"Old Ancestors, you’re back?" While thinking, Xia Xin saw them returning and eagerly greeted them, "Did you find anything?"

Jiangli didn’t answer, instead asked, "How’s the room tidying going?"

Xia Xin’s face fell imdiately, "I just swept the floor a bit; the room is uninhabitable, there’s nothing inside, not even a stool. How are we supposed to stay here? Old Ancestors, should we reconsider?"

Hearing this, Jiangli glanced into the yard, "Do you think letting you stay ans letting you sleep?"

Xia Xin was puzzled, "Huh?"

Jiangli said, "You fool," and then asked, "Where’s Qiu Tang?"

"Oh, she’s inside taking care of the elder. She called the elder’s sons, but strangely, they haven’t shown up yet, it’s perplexing." Xia Xin couldn’t fathom why the elder’s sons acted this way.

Qiu Tang was also furious, but there wasn’t much she could do except return to care for the elder.

Qiu Tang wanted to take the elder back to the city, but with the elder regaining so consciousness, he refused to go.

Xia Xin couldn’t make sense of it either.
