Chapter 1030: Chapter 1030: Qiu Dajun
Each person had their own thoughts, eating a tasteless al, and then Qiu Tang took Jiangli and the others ho.
Qiu Dajun, now quite elderly, hardly ever went out. As he aged, his personality beca more reclusive, and he seldom got close to anyone.
It took Qiu Tang quite so effort to persuade Qiu Dajun to cooperate with the investigation by the Unusual Affairs Managent Office.
Only then did Qiu Dajun agree to et with Jiangli, Bai Changfeng, and others.
Qiu Tang led Jiangli, Bai Changfeng, and the others back ho. Before opening the door, she quietly inford Jiangli and the others in advance, “My grandfather has a bit of a temper, I’ll try my best to persuade him, but if he says anything offensive, I hope you won’t take it to heart.”
Bai Changfeng replied softly, “Don’t worry, we understand.”
Qiu Tang nodded, and as she pushed open the door, she called out loudly inside, “Grandpa, I’m back.”
She walked in first.
Jiangli, Bai Changfeng, and the others followed behind.
As soon as they stepped through the Qiu family’s door, Jiangli, Bai Changfeng, and the others heard an old, hoarse voice.
“It’s good that you’re back.”
They looked up to see an elderly man with gray hair and a bent figure coming out of the bedroom, wobbling and holding an enal tea cup.
The air conditioner wasn’t on in the house, making it quite stifling in the sumr heat.
The old man seed oblivious to the heat, wearing a long-sleeved Tang suit, and as he walked, his right leg appeared sowhat stiff, indicating it wasn’t in good condition.
He ca out, paused upon seeing Jiangli, Bai Changfeng, and the others, his wrinkled face stretching longer and becoming expressionless for a mont.
Qiu Dajun didn’t get angry, just glanced at them and said while heading to the living room, “Since you’re here, co over and sit down.”
This sounded quite cooperative.
Bai Changfeng breathed a small sigh of relief and walked over with Jiangli and Xia Xin.
Qiu Tang had already rushed over, snatched the tea cup from Qiu Dajun’s hand, sniffed under her nose, and pouted unhappily, “Grandpa, you’re drinking again! Didn’t we agree? If you’re thirsty, drink water or tea. Drinking every day is bad for your health!”
Qiu Dajun didn’t say a word.
Qiu Tang held the tea cup, picked up the teapot on the table, and turned to Jiangli and the others, saying, “Abbot, Mr. Bai, please sit down. I’ll brew so tea, be right back.”
Bai Changfeng nodded.
Qiu Tang headed to the kitchen.
Jiangli and Bai Changfeng exchanged a glance and sat on the sofa nearby.
The Qiu family’s house seed to be one of the earliest settlent houses, with outdated layout and decor, as if they were transported back several decades by sitting there.
The couch in the living room seed to be genuine leather, but it was badly peeling, with so areas even exposing the sponge inside.
It looked rather shabby.
Jiangli silently observed.
Qiu Dajun glanced at them, possibly thinking that Jiangli and Xia Xin were just here to cause trouble, and directly addressed Bai Changfeng, “What is it you want to ask?”
Bai Changfeng was hesitating on how to start, but didn’t expect Qiu Dajun to be so direct. He cleared his throat and said, “Mr. Qiu, the reason for our visit this ti, as I’m sure Qiu Tang has ntioned, is to directly inquire about the matter of the curse on Qiu Village and Tang Village back in the day.”
Qiu Dajun’s facial muscles twitched imperceptibly, his expression growing darker, “There’s nothing about any curse.”
Jiangli observed him, noting all his reactions but saying nothing.
Bai Changfeng frowned slightly at the response and shifted his approach, “Maybe I didn’t phrase it accurately, we’re trying to understand those strange occurrences in the village from back then, such as the youths dying before thirty. You were quite mature at the ti, you should have a strong impression of those events, correct?”
