Silas’s POV
"What are you saying, Mr. Damon? Why would I leave that kid alone here? Don’t you have any heart? That kid doesn’t have any parents or any adults to rely on. How could you even think of leaving him alone here?"
I know when damon was cold, his personality was like this because he’s a ceo. He has to be strong and can’t show his emotions.
But what is he saying now? It’s all nonsense. If he doesn’t have a heart, he doesn’t deserve to be called human.
I was staring at him, unable to believe my eyes and ears — the way he was looking at and the words he said.
"Silas, why are you so obsessed with that kid? He will only get in the way of your career. You know if people find out you have a kid, they’ll assu he’s yours. They’ll start questioning where he ca from, who his father is, and all that. Your reputation will be ruined."
Why is he getting angry? It’s my reputation on the line, not his. This has nothing to do with him.
"Okay, let’s leave this matter aside. We can’t keep arguing about it," he said.
"There’s sothing important I want to tell you. I thought without telling you would make feel lighter, but it’s just making feel more burdened."
Hearing Damon, I wondered what he wanted to say.
"What do you want to say?" I asked.
At first, he looked nervous. His eyes t mine briefly before he glanced away, avoiding my gaze. Great. Do whatever you want — I don’t care.
"It’s a secret," he finally said.
"Only our family mbers know about this, but I think I should tell you. The four of us... we can’t sense oga pheromones."
I was stunned. My eyes widened, and my jaw practically dropped. What? They can’t sll pheromones? Oh my god.
They can’t senses oga pheromones all four of them — well, I haven’t t the fourth brother yet, but still. They can’t... No. He must be lying.
Because it’s impossible. If this were true, there would have been articles about it. Soone would have exposed it. But he said only family mbers know.
No, they can’t hide such a thing. How have they survived all this ti without slling, sensing, or feeling oga pheromones? Any oga should have noticed they can’t pick up on pheromones.
How co no one realized?
It was such a confusing conversation. We were talking about Velric, but out of nowhere, Damon got angry, dropped the topic, and brought up this irrelevant issue.
"Mr. Damon, why are you telling all this? Aren’t you supposed to be go to the hospital for this issue? So what’s the reason for telling ?"
"I think I shouldn’t give up that easily, even if you reject . So, I want to tell..."
Looking at Damon and his nervous reaction, I felt a sense of déjà vu — like I was back at the restroom when he confessed to before.
Now, it seed like he was about to confess again. Before he could say anything, I decided to reject him, so I opened my mouth to speak. But just then, the power went out.
As darkness spread around the room, an uneasy fear crept over . I didn’t know what to do. Panicked, I placed both my hands on the bed, trying to steady myself and get out. And then, I heard it — a breathing sound near the bed.
The mont that sound reached my ears, my heart pounded in fear. Was it a ghost? A hospital ghost? What kind of creepy sound was this? I had no idea what to do. And just then...
"Silas, are you okay?"
Damon’s voice broke through the darkness as he sat on the bed beside . He turned on his phone’s flashlight, casting a beam of light around the room to see what had caused the sudden power outage.
"Sothing’s off. I can feel another presence in the room."
"Mr. Damon, what do you an by that? Are you saying there’s soone else here?"
Damon grabbed my hand, his fingers tapping anxiously against my skin as his eyes darted around. My heart started to race, and I glanced around nervously too.
The room was swallowed in darkness. In the dark, our imagination often runs wild — that’s why it’s so terrifying.
It felt like sothing moved from the table to the bathroom door. I didn’t know if it was just my imagination or not, but suddenly... I saw them. White eyes. Staring back at through the darkness.
"Aaaaaa!"
Seeing those eyes, I almost had a heart attack. In the dark, when there was supposed to be no one in the room, seeing those eyes felt like there was really soone there.
"Silas, are you okay? What happened? Did you get hurt?"
I quickly grabbed Damon’s arm and moved closer to him. It was scary, and he was with , so of course, I’d rely on him.
"There’s soone here. I saw eyes near the bathroom door."
"Where? Near the bathroom door? Wait a second."
Damon pointed his phone’s flashlight toward the bathroom door, but there was no one. He checked the whole room again, moving the light in circles.
But the room was empty, and my fear was skyrocketing. If no one was there, then how did I see those eyes? Those eyes...
I had one leg on the bed and the other on the ground, ready to run if anything happened.
As I glanced nervously around, I suddenly felt a touch — light and quick. The mont I felt it, I yanked my leg up onto the bed.
Why is this happening? Was it just my imagination?
"T-There’s soone under the bed... They touched ."
"Silas, stay quiet. Let’s get out of this room right now."
Damon didn’t waste a second. He got off the bed, grabbed my hand, and helped down.
He wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pulling closer to him, and started to guide out of the room.
