Chapter 117: Chapter 116: The warmth of two people (First Update) _1
In the afternoon, they returned to the military camp.
The military regulations were strict; the number of people the instructor took out was the exact number they must bring back, otherwise they would face severe punishnt. As such, whether Yue Qiao was willing or not, she had to return to the camp first before making other plans.
Inside the dormitory, Ye Xiwen and Xia Luoyu watched Yue Qiao with so worry. Since her return, Yue Qiao had been sitting motionless for nearly an hour, not speaking, nor doing anything.
They had just gone to find Instructor Ling, but unfortunately, he was not in his room.
At that mont, there was a knock at the door.
Ye Xiwen hurried over to open the door, wondering if Mu Lin had returned, but it never occurred to her that if it was Mu Lin, there would be no need to knock in order to enter.
Upon opening the door, they saw the handso faces of Yang Yuebin and Jing Youlan, causing Ye Xiwen’s heart to jump involuntarily. She was so startled that it took her a mont to speak.
“Why are you here?”
“We ca to bring so things to Mu Lin.” Yang Yuebin gestured with the several large bags in his hand, craning his neck to look inside, “Where is Mu Lin?” He couldn’t see her anywhere.
Ye Xiwen shook her head, “I don’t know, Mu Lin has been missing since she returned earlier.” Since she had been worrying about Yue Qiao, Ye Xiwen hadn’t paid much attention to Mu Lin. By the ti she rembered, she didn’t know where Mu Lin had gone.
“I see.” Yang Yuebin looked regretful, then handed over the several large bags he was carrying, “Well, could you please give these things to Mu Lin? Also, tell her that I couldn’t find the items she had asked
to get, so these… are to make up for it.” Since Mu Lin wasn’t around, they planned to leave.
“Oh.” Ye Xiwen took the packages, sowhat dazed, suddenly feeling her body weight shift.
They were heavy.
Fortunately, they were soldiers, and despite being girls, they were quite strong. She struggled to carry the bags inside and placed them near Mu Lin’s bed, wondering when she would return.
…
anwhile, in the cabin in the woods that was exclusive to Mu Lin and Jing Chen.
As soon as he walked through the doorway, he could hear the sound of sothing being moved about inside. His pace slowed, and the corners of his mouth, which had been pressed into a thin line, suddenly lifted. His footsteps beca heavier, and his pace quickened unconsciously.
Inside the cabin, the first thing he saw was a sowhat slender figure, engrossed in sothing.
“You’re back.” It was a calm greeting, but Mu Lin didn’t turn around.
“Hmm.” His voice was low, as if the response was coming from deep within his heart. Even in his eyes, an inexplicable sense of satisfaction was surfacing.
You’re back.
Just a simple sentence, yet, at that mont, it resonated deep within Jing Chen’s heart as the most beautiful words he had ever heard. It set his heart fluttering, causing his whole deanor to soften unconsciously.
“What are you doing?” he asked, walking over towards Mu Lin.
“I’m preparing dicines.” Mu Lin replied as if speaking to herself, “I just went for a walk nearby, and found that there are plenty of good herbs in a certain area here.” Just what she needed.
“Is that so.” He casually sat down next to Mu Lin, “That’s great.” As long as she liked it here, that was all that mattered.
“Yeah.” Mu Lin turned her head towards him and offered a faint smile.
At that mont, there was none of their usual back and forth. It was a tranquil dialogue filled with warmth enveloping the space between them, unwilling to ever leave.
