Isaac stood frozen in place, a rush of unsettling thoughts coursing through his mind. None of it was good news. If Anya knew about Maxi’s secret, then the love of his life was in danger. Anya was not soone who would blab, she was skilled at keeping secrets. However, it was evident that she despised Maxi and wanted her out of the picture. Anya’s discovery of Maxi’s secret was all the proof needed.

Before Isaac could utter a word to inquire about how she obtained Maxi’s secret, Anya interjected, "I had soone investigate her background and—"

"You did what?" Isaac snapped.

Anya nervously replied, "That’s not the important point here, Isaac. The point is that her records were not found. I hired a professional, soone experienced and successful, and yet he couldn’t find any information on the Fae you’re dating. It’s as if she doesn’t even exist in this realm. Do you realize what that ans, Isaac?" Desperation crept into her voice as she moved closer, hoping he would listen.

"Hold on a minute," Isaac pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath. He frowned at Anya and asked, "You’re telling that you paid soone to investigate Maxi?" His scowl deepened. "Why would you do that?"

Anya swallowed, slightly afraid of Isaac’s potential anger over her actions. However, she quickly realized that this was an opportunity to confess her feelings to him. She lifted her head with determination and boldly declared, "Because I care about you, Isaac."

There was a vulnerable look on Anya’s face as she finally revealed her true emotions. "I’ve had feelings for you ever since we were children. I thought the gods ordained us together and we are going to be mates but when nothing happened, I decided not to say a word because I didn’t want to ruin our friendship. It was so annoying that you would flirt with others but wouldn’t treat the sa way. So when that night happened between us... "

Isaac’s jaw visibly clenched and his body stiffened at the ntion of that night, yet he remained silent, giving Anya the chance to finish.

Continuing, Anya said, "I thought things would change, but you left without a word. When you returned, I believed that maybe you had finally realized how perfect we could be together. But instead, you ca back with her." Anya’s expression turned dark and venom seeped into her voice. "I knew there was sothing off about that Fae. I know you, Isaac, and you wouldn’t easily fall for soone like her. Now the truth is out. You can’t trust that female, Maxi." Anya reached out to touch him while making her point, but Isaac snatched his arm away.

Though the gesture hurt Anya, it didn’t deter her from speaking further. With determination, she stated firmly, "Maxi isn’t who she claims to be. She’s hiding a dark secret, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s a hidden witch or sothing even worse, a dark—"

"That’s enough!" Isaac’s voice bood, making Anya jump in shock.

Anya stared at Isaac in complete disbelief. He had never treated her this way before, all because of a female... Damn. The realization washed over Anya, and she looked at Isaac with wide eyes, finally understanding.

"You know, don’t you?"

Isaac didn’t need to answer; the stubborn clenching of his jaw said it all. Maxi let out a startled gasp.

Then her eyes narrowed, darkened with anger. She lashed out, "You know that Maxi isn’t right for you, and yet you...!"

"Maxi is my mate!" Isaac burst out.

Anya’s ears were ringing, and the world spun around her. She forgot how to breathe, feeling the air being sucked out of her lungs. Shivers shook her body, and her trembling lips quivered. She took a step back, nearly stumbling from the shock.

"No..." She whispered it at first, repeating it continuously as if chanting could prevent it from becoming reality. But this was the truth, no amount of denial could change the fact that Maxi was ant to be Isaac’s mate this ti.

"No..." A broken sob tore from Anya’s throat. Tear-filled eyes t Isaac’s gaze, brimming with pain that cut through him. He looked pained by her distress, knowing that she had been his best friend until everything fell apart. But there was nothing he could do.

"Tell it’s not true," Anya demanded. "Tell it’s all a lie and you’re trying to push away for what I did to you. Yes, I admit it, I drugged you. I was jealous of the attention you gave to the other Fae. I had everything they had, so why wouldn’t you look at the sa way? I thought that if you experienced , you would realize what you were missing and that I’m better than all of them... But instead, it ruined everything. So I’m sorry. But this..." Her voice choked. "This... Tell it’s not true, Isaac, please don’t tell..."

Anya began to hit Isaac’s chest out of desperation, and he allowed her to unleash her frustrations on him. She knew how sacred mates were in the Fae realm, revered as a match made in heaven. It was considered an insult to co between two mates, as if slapping the gods in the face.

Isaac gently grabbed her arms, trying to steady her. Looking into her pained eyes, he softly spoke, "I forgive you for what you did, Anya. But I’m afraid this is the end for us. You deserve a Fae who can give you the love and attention I could never provide..."

"No!" Anya let out an anguished scream, tears streaming down her face as she forcefully pulled away from Isaac’s grip. Her composure was shattered, and she no longer cared that Isaac saw her in this vulnerable state.

"No!" she insisted. "This isn’t over."

"Anya..."

She laughed hysterically. "No one can take away from you, Isaac."

Isaac narrowed his eyes, displeased with the tone of her voice.

"Rember my words, Isaac. Not even the gods can co between us. I will co back for you. You will be mine!" Anya swore with unwavering determination before walking away without looking back.

Isaac stared at her retreating figure, hoping that Anya wouldn’t do anything foolish. He let out a deep breath and opened the door, only to find his mother Oma , Kayla, and Maxi waiting for him.

His breath caught in his throat as the realization dawned on him. They all knew the truth now.
