Aria pov
"Aria. Aria," I heard in my head as I blinked my eyes and made it clean. Looking around my surroundings, I was jolted back to reality.
"Huh?" I said to Mary as she smiled.
"Why are you so lost in thought?"
I could not help but stand up as I laughed like a crazy person. "I don’t know. It’s just that what you said kind of sounds funny to , and at the sa ti, it makes absolutely no sense at all. Jaxon cannot like . Have you seen Jaxon? He’s like every woman’s guy. He can’t. He can’t like . It’s not possible. I promise you it cannot be possible. And besides, he’s my... he’s my brother kind of sort of stuff," I said to her as she laughed.
"I am not forcing you to see that you two can walk out together. I’m just saying that any guy who acts like the way Jaxon acts around you clearly likes you. I know that for sure due to the fact that a lot of guys liked in my forr school, and I know how it feels. Jaxon likes you. I’m very, very sure of it."
"But I don’t know. Do you like him too? He’s your brother, right?" she said as I shrugged.
"Don’t say sothing like that, Mary. Co on. I don’t want you to assu that I have any feelings for him. I’m even surprised you’re saying sothing like this. Don’t. Don’t make confused and don’t make think too much, okay? We can’t like each other, and that’s just fine," I said to her as I sat down back and she sat beside .
"You don’t have to be all grumpy about it. I just made a joke and you took it serious. Anyway, let’s stop talking about Jaxon and let’s talk about sothing else," she said as I knew that that would be better.
I muttered for my gaze was fixed on Jaxon as he continued talking to whoever he was laughing with. Clearly, I began to see what she said. His laughter seed so fake. It seed as though he was not satisfied. Like his attention was sowhere else. Like he was more with soone in his mind than he was with the person he was talking to.
I couldn’t help but scoff, realizing that she was right, and I never realized it until soone had to tell . Makes no sense at all. Maybe that’s the reason why he wants to be beside him and be his so-called werewolf mate no matter what. Everything now begins to make perfect sense to , and now I understand why he wants around. I have to avoid him, or else I might end up falling for him. I shake my head imdiately, trying to waver off those thoughts.
"Why would I think I would like him? Oh, I’m so foolish. I’m so dumb. How can I calm down and think I can like him? Oh. Oh God. Oh God. Aria, what is wrong with you?" I thought to myself as I felt a tap on my shoulder, and it was Mary.
"Did you say sothing?" I asked her as she groaned and lifted her hands into the air.
"Co on, Aria. Do you not want to listen to ? Or you just don’t like when I’m just with you? Whenever I say sothing, you’re so lost in thought. Co on, please don’t be lost in thought because of what I said. I was just saying it. I did not an you should suddenly think he likes you," she said to as I quickly brushed her with a tight hug, squeezing her in my arms as she squealed in pain.
"Co on, Aria, you’re squeezing the life out of ," she muttered as I let go.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I just wanted you to know that I am not a bad friend at all. I’m just kind of confused. You know, what you said hit like a huge bump. Because I can never like soone like him. It sounds so funny to , and anyti I rember your words, I cannot help but laugh," I said to her.
But before she could respond back at , the lecturer walked in as all of us arranged our desks and Mary rushed back to her own seat. But just as I was arranging my booklets, I noticed soone was coming towards . I looked, and it was Jaxon. Before I could even react, he sat beside and opened his book, placing an earpiece in one of his ears as I looked at him for a while, hoping he would look back at . But he did not even blink. Instead, he continued to flip through his pages as the lecturer went straight to the board silently. And of course, everyone seed to be obedient.
After the class, I watched as he closed his book and just sat there scrolling through his phone, his leg crossed, and I could not help but claim my truth.
"Do you mind explaining why you are in my seat all of a sudden?" I said to him as he removed his earpiece and looked at .
"What did you say?"
I could not help but groan angrily. "Co on, you heard . Jaxon. Why are you sitting beside ? Get up. Maybe you did not find the appropriate seat for yourself, but you don’t sit beside . You have never sat beside , and I don’t want that to ever start now. Do you understand?" I said to him, hoping he would understand as he shrugged.
"I can sit anywhere I want. You can’t tell where to sit down," he said.
"I don’t see what’s so bad and offensive about sitting beside you. Are you a monster or sothing that I cannot stay beside you? Besides, I need to be closer to you so that my wolf can stay at peace. I can’t. I can’t. I can’t be how chaotic he is anyti I’m far away from you," Jaxon said as I looked at him, even more frustrated.
"I don’t care about your wolf!" I yelled as he covered my mouth.
"Stop it," he whispered, his lips just a few inches away from mine, and only his hands were the barrier between the both of them. As he was so close to , I almost choked up. The scent of his perfu almost drove crazy. His cologne made my mind go crazy too as I tried to push him away, but he was so strong.
"Wrong. You don’t shout that out. That’s my secret, okay? It stays between both of us. You’re supposed to dream of keeping a secret," he said as I nodded.
Just then, I looked up. It was the enemy herself, her hands folded and smack on her face.
"What secrets are you two keeping?" she asked.
