Chapter 69: _ Claid by My Mate

"I understand your concerns, Isleen. I care for my son more than my own self. I think I have told you this many tis before- I have to do this because of the love I have for my son. You two are cursed. You’ve brought the Moon Goddess’s curse upon yourselves. Don’t you understand? If I don’t claim you and allow you two to continue this folly, one of you could die. I don’t want any one of you to die." He sounded sad.

He sounded like he was so sure of himself.

I scoffed. "And what makes you so sure that we are cursed, Gamma Rhett? A book with an unverified story? Folklores? Culture? Traditions? All of those couldn’t surpass the love you have for your son, could they?"

I was looking at him now, searching him, searching for a glint of remorse but I didn’t think I could find any. It was as if he’d lived this life and seen the future.

"What you fail to understand is that the mate bond transcends societal norms and pack politics. What people would say? That we are unlucky to be fated together but it’s the right call for both of us if we get together. What Kylo would think? That he wants us to be happy. Everyone knows the Mate bond is an undeniable connection that cannot be ignored."

His words sent shivers down my spine. It was both a warning and a seductive whisper. I knew the truth in his statent. The pull I felt towards him was undeniable. It was a force beyond my rational control.

"But we can’t act on it," I countered, my voice rising in frustration. "It’s forbidden! It would bring ruin to everything we hold dear."

He leaned forward, his eyes boring into mine with an intensity that stole my breath. "Are you saying you don’t feel it too, Isleen?" he challenged. "The pull, the connection? Can you honestly deny it?"

No, I couldn’t. I was too lazy to.

I looked away, unable to et his gaze. Sha burned in my cheeks, and the traitorous ache in my heart intensified. To deny the pull would be a lie. It would be a betrayal of the truth that resonated deep within my soul.

"I..." I stamred, searching for words and failing at it.

He touched

and I jumped. I almost stumbled on the seat but he drew

to himself. His hands were tenderly wrapped around my chest.

My head was on his lap and my face, upward, seeing him. Seeing his face, his eyes, and the desire in them.

"I want to kiss you." He mumbled out a warning.

I knew the right thing for

to do after that was to run. I should get out of the car now. We couldn’t have that talk that I had envisioned.

Hell, I and Gamma Rhett could have nothing but more aching and kissing and touching. He gave

the chance. He hesitated, waiting for

to turn away or tell him to let go but I didn’t.

I just remained there, in his arms, breathing hard with my eyes colliding endlessly with his. If only there was a way to extend this mont into a thousand more- I’d do it.

This was one of those monts where the whole world wouldn’t seem to matter except for that person. Their breaths on your face, scenting like incense on it and mixing with yours.

"Then, you leave

with no choice." He whispered before lowering his head and leaning closer.

As his lips hovered close to mine, I closed my eyes, surrendering to the inevitable. The kiss, when it ca, was like a burst of fireworks, painting wonders in my mouth.

His lips were soft and warm, sending a wave of pleasure through my body. The touch of his tongue against mine was a delicious exploration, arousing a sense of need that I couldn’t ignore.

We lost ourselves in the kiss, ti lting away as we explored each other’s depths. It was a desperate, hungry kiss, fueled by monts of ignoring the urge every ti we t.

I ran my hands through his hair, gasping for breath and not wanting to break the kiss at the sa ti. His hands moved across my body, trialing every delicate spot he could find.

I moaned here and there. To hell, I moaned his na too. I pleaded too.

But for what?

"Rhett..."

"Please..."

What was I requesting for?

But then, his hand moved with lightning speed and his fingers brushed against the exposed skin of my neck. He caressed every skin there for as long as he could until we both couldn’t take it any longer.

Until it felt like the whole world would fall apart if we didn’t do sothing.

My Wolf begged. My Wolf cried in pleasure. My Wolf wanted more.

And Gamma Rhett did listen.

He did sothing.

I heard the soft growl of his fangs elongating as his moth moved away from mine and settled on my neck.

I knew what was to co. I knew this was the ti to run. It was now or never. Yet, I did the exact opposite. I allowed my desire to get the best of .

I wrapped my hands around his neck, and arched my neck aside to tell him that it was okay. His hesitation was killing , so I made sure it didn’t.

I had no idea if this was

or my wolf. If this was just

trying to bla my wolf for what I did. However, I knew it was my call.

He gave

a chance to walk away, but I stayed and invited him to do more. There really was no one to bla right here other than myself when his fangs sank into my neck.

A jolt of charring pain ripped through , stealing my breath away. It wasn’t a sharp, localized pain, but rather a wave of raw energy that surged through my entire body, montarily paralyzing . It was like a lightning strike coursing through my veins, leaving a trail of tingling warmth in its wake.

But woven into the pain was sothing else, sothing unexpected. A warmth- a sense of completion, as if a missing piece of my soul had finally clicked into place. It was a feeling of belonging, of being tethered to sothing larger than myself.

It was a connection that transcended the physical realm.

Tears welled up in my eyes. A mix of the lingering pain and the overwhelming surge of emotions did too. These were tears of fear, of uncertainty about the future, but also of a strange acceptance, a recognition of the bond that now irrevocably bound

to Rhett.

Rhett had marked . I was his.

He was mine.

We were one now.

We were officially mates.

How did it co down to this?

Gradually, he retracted his fangs and I saw them go back to normal. Traces of my blood were on his teeth and lips. Slowly, he licked them off with great care.

As though my blood had the ability to feel pain should he have done it a little more rougher. He smiled.

"It’s done. You are mine now, Isleen."
