Chapter 227: What’s Up With Kylo?

After a while, Rhett eventually got up and started getting dressed. I couldn’t help staring at him as I watched him slide into his underwear, which barely held his dick within.

Lord, have rcy! Since when was I this lewd?

I coughed awkwardly, diverting my gaze away from his naked body. "So, how are things going in the camp? Have you gotten any updates from Aceco concerning the moon goddess’ words and my special ability?"

I still rember our discussion two weeks ago where I revealed my special ability to him and he revealed that he’s the chosen one.

But as I rembered that, I also couldn’t help rembering that it had also been the day of Lupe’s murder. The frightened look etched on her corpse’s face still haunted

till now.

"Things are... Okay. The enlisted soldiers have been doing a good job these past two weeks. They’ve trained hard and have even been sent on missions to fight off vampire threats scattered at different spots around our borders." He replied casually, as he buttoned his shirt.

"Oh, and I’ve released them to co back to the pack for a break today. It should last for about three days, if sothing doesn’t co up." He paused, seemingly thinking about sothing.

Eventually, he shrugged before continuing. "But now, about Aceco... She hasn’t told

much, but I’ve made her aware of my chosen one status as per the moon goddess’ guidance. The fairy healer is guiding

on how to get more attuned with my ability to communicate with her."

I nodded my head, a little absentmindedly. That was a lot of information to take in all at once. He said the enlisted soldiers would be coming back today. Did that an...?

"So, Kylo and Cullen will be coming back today?" I asked, my tone a bit grim when I ntioned Cullen’s na.

We were still on high alert about his true intentions and if he was really the vampire in disguise.

Rhett paused, swerving to face

with squinted eyes. "Yes. And rember to be careful Isleen. We still don’t know if Cullen’s actually the vampire. We can’t make him suspicious if he is."

I nodded my understanding, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

When he’d finished dressing up I escorted him to the door where he kissed .

"Take care of yourself." He muttered softly after removing his lips from mine. He gazed into my eyes and I couldn’t help doing the sa as it seed like ti had stopped.

But eventually, he opened the door and walked out, leaving

alone again. I was already missing him.

Was that even normal? We’d been intimate and had a long chat, which was a rare thing on his part.

Ugh. Get a grip Isleen!

I sighed as I shut the door behind

before walking to a sofa. After sitting, I couldn’t help thinking about the turn of events in my life.

I’d lost my ’son’, my friend, and my boyfriend even though he wasn’t dead, and now there’s a chance that I’d lost another friend.

If the vampire had Cullen’s skin, that ant he was dead. He could get on my nerves sotis, but I liked the dude. He was always so real and wasn’t afraid of opening my eyes to harsh realities when I couldn’t co to terms with them.

I’d lost too much but at least I had Rhett to guide

through it.

Just then, the door clicked, snapping

out of my thoughts. I turned my head to the living room entrance, just in ti to see Kylo stepping in. And right behind him was Cullen, whose smile contrasted with the blank look on his face.

"What’s up, Isleen?" Cullen grinned, but that only managed to send a cold shiver down my spine for so reason.

I managed to retain my composure, smiling lightly as I got up. "Cullen. I see you haven’t added any weight throughout your stay at the camp. What are they even feeding you guys over there?"

He scoffed before replying. "Regardless of what it is, I assure you that it wouldn’t even be enough to satisfy my hunger."

Okay... That was a weird thing to say. Was I being paranoid, or did that sound like it had a deeper aning?

I shook my head before turning my gaze to Kylo. He seed... Odd. He barely even looked at

and simply walked past , leaving

and Cullen alone.

What. The. Heck? Why was he suddenly acting up?

"Is everything okay with Kylo?" Not knowing what else to do, I turned to Cullen and asked.

He seed rather unbothered and shrugged before responding. "I don’t think so. Maybe he’s trying to cope with everything he saw in the war. Give him so ti, he’ll co around."

I nodded awkwardly, as I glanced at Kylo. He’d gone to the kitchen, undisturbed by our talks about him.

Maybe Cullen was right, but I couldn’t take my ex-boyfriend seeing

and pretending like I didn’t exist lightly. I had to confront him.

I ignored Cullen’s ranting about things he’d experienced in camp and strutted to the kitchen, a burning sensation rising from my chest. I was low-key angry, but I had to calm myself so I could speak soundly to Kylo.

We’d been good friends before he left, so I couldn’t understand his sudden coldness now that he was back.

"Kylo?" I blurted when I stepped into the kitchen, my eyes landing on his back. He was pouring himself a drink but didn’t even bother to face

when I called. "Are you... Are you okay?"

Again, no response.

I threw my hands listlessly into the air, frustration bubbling within . "Seriously, Kylo, what’s up? Did sothing happen? Why are you suddenly giving

the cold shoulder?" My voice nearly broke with hurt.

He rely glanced at

before moving toward the door. He walked past , his shoulder hitting mine as he did. Oh, heck no!

"Kylo, talk to !" My voice ca out in a yell as I clutched his elbow tightly, stopping him from moving. "Did I do sothing wrong? If I did, talk to . You can’t just ignore

like nothing happened." I paused, my eyes wavering when he turned to face .

His voice was icy as he spat. "Why don’t you go talk to my dad instead?"

My eyes shone in shock and my heart

dropped to my stomach. Oh no. He... Did he find out about Rhett and I?
