Chapter 170: Night Of Uncertainties
After eating a bit of Cullen and Lupe’s food, I got dressed, ready to go see Gamma Rhett.
I walked alone down the pack’s grounds, watching the pack co to life under the night. Even after the recent attack, the wolves of Raven Wood pack still moved about their daily lives under the cover of the night. More street lights had been added to spots that’d been darker and many houses that’d been reduced to skeletal figures after the attack were now fully reconstructed and ready to be used again.
I shook my head to myself, sighing. If only these people knew about what the pack’s leaders had planned for their young n.
Everyone was walking in at least a group of two, but I decided to just hurry up to the precinct by myself quickly. Kylo had gotten ho before I left and had tried escorting
wherever I was going, but I’d declined. How could I let him escort
on a date with his dad? Wait, should I even call it a date? Well, I’d know once I got there.
Getting closer to the precinct, I spotted a tall burly figure resting on a car. I paused, already catching a whiff of his scent from a distance. Gamma Rhett.
He wore a dark blue long-sleeve shirt, with a black coat on top it. He didn’t seem to notice
at first, but after turning his head my way, I saw his eyes pause too as his gaze scrutinized
even from that distance.
By the moon, he looked so hot tonight! I wonder if he was taking us to...wait, what’re you thinking about Isleen? Argh! Get your head back into the ga!
I rubbed my temples, trying to ignore the weird feeling I had as I finally got close to Gamma Rhett and his car.
"You’re ten minutes late." Gamma Rhett creased his brow, pointing at the ti on his phone. It was only ten minutes past eight. "And you ca here alone. You should know more than anyone how unsafe the pack is right now, especially at night. You should be more cautious, not reckless."
I rolled my eyes. Why was the man berating
like he weren’t the one who insisted we et- oh wait, I’d been the one who unintentionally brought up the suggestion of us seeing again tonight. Guess I had to face the consequences of my loose mouth.
I inched closer to Gamma Rhett, looking into his eyes. "Now, is that any way to address your mate, Gamma Rhett?"
My voice ca off as a whisper, my mouth barely inches away from the Gamma’s neck. A low growl emanated from my throat, my wolf craving the idea of biting him. He’d marked
and for so reason, I also felt like marking him too, to show he was mine.
I saw Rhett’s eyes widen in surprise but then squint as he studied
closely.
I didn’t mind as my eyes scrutinized him too, going from his eyes to his broad shoulders, lingering on them and then his chest which I was able to get a little peek of thanks to the fact that he had two undone buttons.
"You look... beautiful." Gamma Rhett suddenly blurted, his voice coming off as a husky whisper.
I smirked. Well, of course, I did. I’d put extra effort into getting myself ready tonight. I didn’t know why, but I felt the need to impress Rhett. It seed I’d succeeded in that departnt.
"Uhh, Isleen." Rhett suddenly withdrew his face from mine, coughing awkwardly. "You do realize that we’re outside, in public, right?"
I frowned, only then finally getting back awareness of my surroundings. People still walked past the precinct, and I’d just been inching closer to kiss Rhett. How did I almost slip up so badly?
I felt heat rush up to my face, but my eyes remained unwavering from Gamma Rhett. "Why don’t we go sowhere more private then? Or do you plan on keeping
waiting all night?" My voice sounded urgent, more than I’d intended it to.
Those words ca out of my mouth before my mind could actually process them. I felt like smacking myself on the head. What the heck was wrong with ?
Rhett smiled, opening the door to the driver’s seat.
"Ahem!" I faked a cough, causing him to pause before he entered the car. "I think you’re forgetting sothing."
And here I was thinking Gamma Rhett was a gentleman. Hmph! How could he have forgotten to open the car door?
Rhett seed sincerely confused at first before realization dawned on his eyes. He chuckled with amusent, turning round to open the door for .
"Pardon , pretty Oga." His gaze held a glint of desire, one that I was willing to test the depths of.
Grinning to myself, I got into the car, and when he did the sa, he drove off into the night.
I remained silent, peeking at Gamma Rhett from the corner of my eyes. I noticed his arms, my gaze trailing the fine muscles and veins in them. I swear, he looked like he’d been sculpted personally by the moon goddess herself!
I felt my breathing increase again and felt really hot, my throat getting parched. Finally, after less than a five-minute drive, the car stopped at our destination.
I stepped out, my eyes widening with surprise. A hotel?
I glanced at Gamma Rhett, noticing his gaze on
as well.
"Now we can have as much privacy as we want." He walked closer to , placing his palm on my waist for a few seconds. Those few seconds almost made
go feral under his touch, but before I could lose control and instinctively pounce on Gamma Rhett, he moved away from , heading into the building.
"Shall we?" He glanced back at , a smirk on his face. Damn it! This was torture.
How would I be able to control myself if we were both in the sa room, alone? My eyes were glued to his receding figure, admiring his broad back as he strutted ahead of , each step carrying an air of confidence that anyone could easily feel with rely a glance.
I bit my lips. The night was still young and filled with uncertainties, but I wouldn’t let
that bother . So, I trailed behind my mate, taking his lead.
