A laugh escaped my lips when Lupe asked
if I thought sothing was fishy between Cullen and Kylo.
"Oh, Cullen," I said. "He’s been hitting on Kylo for ages. Don’t worry, it’s just his way of being playful. He doesn’t an anything by it."
Lupe seed thoughtful for a while. "I know but there’s just sothing about the look on Kylo’s face when Cullen said those things. It was like the look of soone being caught doing a bad thing..."
Just then, the bathroom door swung open and Liam erged with a towel wrapped around his damp hair, his eyes wide with innocence, interrupting Lupe.
"Mommy," he began, his voice small, "what’s sex?"
The question hit
like a bolt of lightning. My breath caught seized, and a wave of heat flooded my cheeks.
Lupe, who had been about to retort on my behalf regarding Cullen’s comnt, choked on a laugh, her eyes widening comically. Especially since I had just told her that it wasn’t cool to expose Liam to such graphics and he was here to ask about intercourse.
"I— uh..." I stamred, completely unprepared for this turn of events.
My mind raced, searching for an age-appropriate explanation that wouldn’t scar him or plant inappropriate ideas in his head. Where on earth did he pick up that word anyway?
"Liam, honey," I finally managed to say, forcing a calm smile, "that’s a word grown-ups use for sothing that happens between married couples when they want to start a family." I kept it vague, hoping it would suffice for now. "It’s not sothing kids should talk about. Just who told you to ask such?"
Liam’s brow furrowed in confusion. "But I heard Kylo and Cullen talking about it back at our apartnt. They weren’t talking about starting a family. They said they would have sex if Cullen spies on you and reports to Kylo. I saw them kissing too and Cullen said he wants sex."
Oh. My. Heavens.
What the hell was this? Kylo and Cullen?!
Hell, I knew Cullen was gay but Kylo? After being all sweet and seemingly innocent? So, he wasn’t loyal to
after all. He was having sex with my roommate behind my back.
How could Cullen even do this?
I an, I was no saint since I was entangled with Kylo’s father too but ours included a bond beyond our comprehension. We had done a good job and a good amount of constraints not tearing each other out and having hot sex because that was exactly what the tension between us shouted.
I could hear my wolf agreeing to that. She wanted Gamma Rhett so badly but I never gave her the joy of that and Kylo, who wasn’t even mated to Cullen was having sex with him in secret?
If Liam hadn’t overheard them and got curious, would they have ever let this out? At least, I knew I’d tell Kylo about Gamma Rhett but I just was waiting for the right ti for it.
But then again, did I even have the right to be pissed at them? At least, I and Kylo were no longer together. He was free to do whatever he wanted with whoever he wanted.

"Oh?" I managed to keep the dread creeping into my voice at bay. "What exactly did you hear them say?"
Liam, who was oblivious to my growing panic, tilted his head, trying to recall. "Kylo said sothing about needing more practicing it, and Cullen said he wouldn’t mind helping him out."
Lupe, who had finally managed to compose herself, snorted. "Oh my word, Isleen," she whispered, her eyes sparkling with amusent despite the inappropriate situation. "Sounds like those two were having a very different kind of conversation than you think. Told ya."
My face burned. So much for Cullen being playful. It seed he was quite serious about his feelings for Kylo, and worse, Liam had overheard their not-so-private conversation.
"Mommy," Liam pressed, still waiting for an answer. "So, what is sex?"
Thinking fast, I decided to deflect. "Well, honey," I said, crouching down to his level, "it’s sothing you definitely don’t need to worry about right now. It’s sothing grown-ups learn about much later in life. How about we focus on getting you to bed?"
Liam, thankfully, seed to accept this answer and he yawned. "Yes, Mum. I want to sleep now."
"Good, my boy." I patted my shoulders and helped him get dressed. "You should go get bathed while I settle Liam in bed," I said to Lupe who seed to be searching my face.
She squinted her eyes. "Are you sure you’re okay, Isleen?"
"Oh, please, Lupe. Just go have your bath and stop trying to stalk." I tried to keep my hurt shoved down and joked.
Lupe rolled her eyes. "Who said I was stalking?" She whined and stepped into the bathroom.
Once Lupe was gone, I settled Liam in bed and planted a kiss on his forehead. "Sleep well, honey. You were so brave today." I said.
I ant it too. The way he ca for

I was proud of him and prouder that I was now his mother.
"I love you, Mum," Liam whispered before his eyes shut firmly and he drifted finally to sleep.
Those words coming from my boy seed to
like a bag of honey. They were like a balm to soothe my ache in this dawn when we had all been made to witness unending bloodshed.
Yet, my wolf wanted to hear those words from soone else. My wolf yearned to hear a particular man’s voice. He saved
earlier from that vampire and the way my heart beat seeing him atop , fighting for
was— unexplainable.
At that mont, I liked him imnsely. Every resentnt in my heart toward Gamma Rhett dissolved. What ungrateful person hates the one who saved her life?
