After Monday morning's classes ended, Lin Jie rarely treated his students to a al together.

They took over a small eting room in the dical College's office building. A dozen people sat around the oval conference table, eating takeout together.

After a few bites, Lin Jie casually asked, "Yan Beichen, how is Lin Xiaoxiao doing now?"

Yan Beichen quickly swallowed the food in his mouth and took a sip of water before replying, "Teacher, during this ti, Lin Xiaoxiao's symptoms have been very stable, with no signs of deterioration in limb coordination."

"Lin Dongfeng and Miao Han have also been diligently making Lin Xiaoxiao exercise daily to strengthen her body, as per our instructions."

Lin Jie nodded and said, "Mm, good! Then notify them to co to Binhai this Saturday to get admitted for surgery."

As soon as he said this, the atmosphere in the eting room beca tense.

A few people slowly put down their chopsticks, losing their appetite.

Lin Jie pretended not to notice and continued, "On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, we'll dissect and verify experintal monkeys number two, four, and five, respectively. Experintal monkeys one and three will be kept as comparison subjects for Lin Xiaoxiao."

Pausing for a mont, he added, "If dissection reveals serious organic disease, we'll use the backup surgical plan to perform a craniocerebral bypass graft surgery on Lin Xiaoxiao."

"Tian Xiangyu, Huo Guangheng, I'll need your assistance at that ti, so prepare in advance."

"Yes, Teacher!"

Tian Xiangyu and Huo Guangheng responded in unison, but their faces didn't show much joy.

Lin Jie continued, "Song Licheng, Zeng Yang, Gao Yanhong, Huo Guangheng, Guo Peng, starting next week, you need to spend three days a week practicing internships at the Affiliated Hospital."

"Spend the first month in Cardiac Surgery, I'll inform Professor Ren."

"As for He Yimin, continue to spend one day a week in outpatient and ergency care, and use another two days to intern with them."

The few people whose nas were ntioned all softly acknowledged.

This arrangent was a bit abrupt but not entirely unexpected.

This academic year was Song Licheng and Zeng Yang's graduation year.

They couldn't always follow Lin Jie to learn theories and occasionally assist in surgeries; practical internships and more patient exposure were necessary.

As for the four individuals sent by the military – Gao Yanhong, Huo Guangheng, Guo Peng, and He Yimin – they had just graduated with their doctorates.

This year was originally their year to practice as intern doctors and take the dical qualification exam, so hospital internship experience was indispensable.

"Teacher, Teacher, what about the three of us?"

Fang Huanru suddenly spoke up, pointing to herself and the two beside her, Tian Xiangyu and Xiao Ganghao.

Lin Jie casually replied, "Xiao Ganghao will temporarily attach to the ENT departnt at the Affiliated Hospital to see patients. As for you and Tian Xiangyu, you have your own resources and don't lack places to go, so make your own arrangents."

Fang Huanru protested slightly, "Ah, Teacher, this is favoritism. Xiao Ganghao's situation is the sa as ours; we're all here on the job for further study!"

Lin Jie snorted and said, "How can Xiao Ganghao be the sa as you? He's already decided to join Anlin Hospital. If you two switch sides, leaving Limin Hospital and Jingcheng University Affiliated Hospital, I'll make accommodations too."

"Hehe, Teacher, you said it!"

Fang Huanru put away her smile and said seriously, "Teacher, I now formally apply to join Anlin Hospital and work under your leadership."

Lin Jie was stunned for a mont and asked, "Fang Huanru, don't joke around. Will your father agree to this choice? He's the director of Limin Hospital!"

Fang Huanru nodded heavily and said, "Teacher, don't worry. I've discussed it in detail with my father."

"According to my dad, with my qualifications, following you for another seven or eight years would barely allow to run a general surgery departnt."

Lin Jie was naturally happy about Fang Huanru's choice.

To be safe, he confird again, "Will your choice have any negative impact on Director Fang? Keep in mind, Anlin Hospital is in direct competition with Limin Hospital West Branch and Limin Hospital."

Fang Huanru laughed and said, "My dad is just an ordinary director with a bit of equity options. He's already given enough to Limin Hospital; there's no need to sacrifice his daughter to them too."

This brought about so light laughter.

The mood lifted a bit after the initial gloom about the experintal monkeys.

Zeng Yang seized the opportunity to reveal so news, "Teacher, I've already sent my resu to Anlin Hospital!"

Song Licheng added calmly, "I have too!"

Lin Jie was even happier and said, "You two just needed to tell , no need to waste a resu."

At this point, Tian Xiangyu stood up, slightly embarrassed, saying, "Teacher, for my situation, I..."

Lin Jie waved his hand lightly, stopping his explanation, and smiled, "Tian Xiangyu, there's no need to feel embarrassed. I teach you knowledge not to make you work for ."

"Wherever you work, as long as you work hard and live up to your learning, that's enough."

Tian Xiangyu's expression relaxed, and he promised, "Teacher, I certainly will!"

"Hey, Teacher!"

Fang Huanru suddenly exclaid, "Why do I feel like there's sothing off about the atmosphere at today's lunch? Teacher, you've suddenly sent most of us to the hospital."

"Is it because you have that dical orientation class, and you're planning to abandon us?"

With these words, everyone stared at Lin Jie. Several girls, like Yan Beichen, Ma Hongmin, and Zhao Fang, even showed expressions of feeling abandoned.

Strictly speaking, they were Professor Chen Shi's students, rely following Lin Jie to learn, having a teacher-student relationship in practice.

The students in that dical orientation class were Lin Jie's real and rightful students.

So their feelings toward this dical orientation class were complicated, to say the least — envy, jealousy, resentnt, a mix of emotions.

Seeing their expressions, Lin Jie chuckled and said, "You've been calling teacher for such a long ti; it can't be for nothing, right?"

Lin Jie pointed at them one by one with his finger and said, "You all are my first batch of students."

He expressed emotionally, "Although I lack any teaching experience and have been blindly nurturing you, I can sincerely say I am truly responsible for you."

"Putting you into the hospital for practical training is not banishnt; it's a teaching necessity."

He softly explained, "As for that dical orientation class, it can be considered an experint."

"You all co with your own set of knowledge. I can only help solidify your foundation, and guide and direct you based on what you've already learned and where your interests lie."

"The students in that dical orientation class are like blank sheets of paper. I want to see if it's possible to cultivate them systematically over seven or eight years."

"But in terms of sentints, they'll never compare to you. Just like a first love or first child, you hold that first place they can never surpass."

"My feelings for you are very deep. You are my first disciples; there's no need to envy them."

Lin Jie casually said that, without much deeper aning, but it couldn't stop the students from overthinking.

The fact that he was a heart transplant recipient flashed in everyone's mind.

These students realized that the reason for admitting that dical orientation class might be the teacher's way of ensuring that he passes on his dical skills while he's still healthy.

They recalled every lecture, where the teacher would end up nearly hoarse.

They thought of every one-on-one conversation, with the teacher staying up late, returning under the stars and moon.

They also rembered each ti a new reading list was issued, the next stage of assignnts given, the teacher nearly pushing to his limits, forcing them to push their limits in return.

Honestly, in such intensely demanding learning conditions, it's impossible to not have a bit of complaint.

But now, they seed to understand the teacher's painstaking efforts.

The teacher was well aware of his limited ti and the unpredictable future, hence trying to compress an abundance of knowledge into the shortest amount of ti possible to impart to them.

In a flash, these guys thought of so much, and the more sensitive ones like Yan Beichen and Zhao Fang's eyes reddened, and they stood up.

They quickly moved to Lin Jie's side and impulsively embraced him from the left and right.

"Teacher, you will definitely live a long life!"

"dicine will only get more advanced, and teacher, you will surely be healthy and long-lived."

This stunned Lin Jie a bit. He looked at the others, who also seed moved.

Lin Jie was unsure how he led them to think this way, but it seed quite motivational.

He patted Yan Beichen and Zhao Fang on their shoulders, saying heavily, "I seek nothing else. When the ti cos, seeing you all achieve would leave content and without regrets."

"Teacher... you mustn't say that..."

As Zhao Fang said this, tears suddenly welled up, and she instinctively tightened her hold on Lin Jie's shoulders.

Lin Jie felt sowhat constricted and quickly reminded, "Let go, I'm about to suffocate. Also, I have a girlfriend, so no taking advantage of so openly."

Amid forced smiles, Yan Beichen and Zhao Fang blushed and released Lin Jie, returning to their seats.

Lin Jie cleared his throat and said seriously, "Hurry up and finish eating. I have two etings at two o'clock. This week and the next, there's much to do, and no ti to waste."

"Yes, teacher!"

Everyone responded in unison, diving into their als voraciously...

After finishing, Lin Jie left them to clean up.

Tian Xiangyu lightly knocked on the conference table, drawing everyone's attention and said solemnly, "Fourteen people, fourteen different and ever-updating reading lists, fourteen personalized guidance plans."

"We all understand how much effort the teacher has invested in each of us."

"To speak frankly, does the teacher need to spend so much effort on us? Wouldn't it be better for him to practice dicine easily, then take a couple of weeks each month to travel, to relax, to enjoy leisure?"

Tian Xiangyu's gaze slowly swept over everyone and he said, "Think about how other ntors treat their students. Aren't they often used as cheap labor, or left to fend for themselves?"

"We are all adults. Grand slogans don't an much. I just hope we rember one thing: to live up to the teacher's hard work!!"
