"Chief?"

Just as Lin Jie was puzzled, his phone suddenly rang. Upon checking, it was a video call request.

The middle-aged man spoke, "Answer it. This call will resolve your doubts and allay your worries!"

Lin Jie answered, and a familiar face appeared on the phone screen.

"Hello, Elder Fu!" he greeted hastily.

Elder Fu nodded, "Lin Jie, I'll be brief! A friend of mine is having a dical issue, and the doctors here are at a loss. I recomnded you!"

"Coincidentally, within my friend's dical team, another doctor also recomnded you."

"The person sent to pick you up is a guard of my friend's son, a trustworthy comrade. Just follow them to the Capital City, and we'll discuss specifics in person."

Lin Jie glanced at the middle-aged man before him, noticing that two others were positioned on his left and right, as if ready to seize him should he refuse.

He had no choice but to comply, "I'll prepare and head to the Capital City."

Upon seeing Lin Jie end the call, the middle-aged man smirked slightly and said, "Dr. Lin, my na is Xiang Jianjun! Anything you need can be arranged in the Capital City."

He gestured invitingly, "Ti is tight, let's depart now."

Lin Jie, seeing this, had no option but to leave with them.

Qin Gang also stepped forward to follow but was intercepted by another person, "We're ordered to only escort Dr. Lin. Qin Gang, you should stay behind."

Qin Gang's expression turned stern, "I'm not only Dr. Lin's driver but also responsible for his safety!"

Xiang Jianjun halted and turned, "Qin Gang, since we are taking Dr. Lin, his safety is our responsibility."

"Rest assured, we will return Dr. Lin safely and unhard."

Lin Jie also added, "Elder Fu would certainly not harm . Qin Gang, just relax and stay here! Spend so quality ti with Yang Leyi, and hopefully, you two will achieve a good outco soon."

After consoling Qin Gang, Lin Jie boarded a nearby military vehicle with Xiang Jianjun and left Xiangtai Apartnt.

Along the way, the military vehicle sped like a wild horse.

The Warrior vehicle weaved through city streets, barely slowing down or stopping, racing all the way to an unremarkable airport on the outskirts of Binhai, before driving directly into the belly of a transport plane already parked on the runway.

As Lin Jie stepped off the vehicle, he felt the vibrations underfoot, realizing the plane had already started. He went to the side of the plane's belly, grabbing onto netting secured to the aircraft.

Xiang Jianjun and the other two secured the military vehicle, then joined Lin Jie at the netting to steady themselves.

"Dr. Lin, apologies for the rush. We can only hitch a ride on this military transport plane at the mont. Sorry for the roughness, hold on tight!"

As Xiang Jianjun finished speaking, Lin Jie felt the plane nose up sharply, tilting at nearly sixty degrees, with the aircraft creaking under stress as if it might fall apart any second.

Lin Jie recalled Shen Lanruo's experiences with high-speed car races. Having raced cars himself, this level of turbulence was manageable.

Yet, thinking of being in a large tal canister in the sky, with no chance of a complete body being found if sothing went wrong, unnerved him slightly…

Gritting his teeth for a while, Lin Jie noticed the plane entering a stable flight, the creaking subsiding considerably, and let out a long breath of relief.

An hour later, enduring a similar ordeal, the plane landed.

They drove out from the plane's belly in the Warrior vehicle, swiftly leaving a military airport.

After another hour of speeding through the road, Lin Jie finally arrived at a very quiet hospital nestled between small mountains.

Seeing Lin Jie's steady steps and calm expression, Xiang Jianjun nodded approvingly, "Dr. Lin, please follow ."

Led by him, Lin Jie went through several checkpoints and inspections, taking an elevator to the eighteenth floor of the hospital building.

Upon entering the lounge, Lin Jie imdiately felt a dozen or so gazes fix on him.

The lounge was spacious, about forty to fifty square ters, with ten to twenty people standing or sitting.

Lin Jie's eyes were unwittingly drawn to a man in his pri!

The man was gazing out the window at the scenery and only turned around upon hearing the door open.

He was tall, about 1.8 ters, with a commanding and dignified presence, dressed in a minimally decorated Zhongshan suit, evidently soone in a high position for a long ti.

Lin Jie vaguely felt his face was familiar, as though he had seen him sowhere before.

In the room, Lin Jie saw Elder Fu and another familiar face, Tian Zhiyuan, dressed in a doctor's coat.

Xiang Jianjun stepped forward, pointing to Lin Jie, and softly said to the man in his pri, "Chief, this is Dr. Lin!"

Suddenly, a buzz of murmurs erupted in the room.

The middle-aged man furrowed his brow, and the noise in the room instantly vanished.

He scrutinized Lin Jie twice, nodded, and said, "Dr. Lin, upon Professor Tian's recomndation and Mr. Fu's reference, I've conducted an investigation on you."

"I have to say, you truly astonished and gave a glimr of hope."

He swept through the people in the room with a sense of authority, and once again focused his gaze on Lin Jie, speaking warmly, "My father is already in his eighties, bedridden for the past half year, like a flickering candle in the wind, which could extinguish at any mont."

"Dr. Lin, please proceed without any reservations. Even if you fail, we will not hold you accountable."

Lin Jie secretly smirked, thinking, anyone can say pretty words. If you weren't holding onto hope, why go through so much trouble to bring here from thousands of miles away?

He softly said, "Let first understand the dical condition!"

The middle-aged man nodded and said, "Please let Professor Tian introduce you!"

Tian Zhiyuan got up, approached Lin Jie, and handed him a tablet, saying, "Patient, male, eighty-six years old..."

Lin Jie flipped through various dical examination details on the tablet while listening to Tian Zhiyuan's introduction.

This elderly man initially had a simple illness, viral flu, but due to old age and weakness, he developed successive infections and has been bedridden in the hospital for half a year without recovery.

A while ago, the elderly man experienced a headache, underwent a brain check, and discovered a tumor in the cranial area!

If he were ten years younger and healthier, this tumor could be removed relatively easily through surgery, but in his current frail condition, he is unlikely to endure such a major operation.

"Dr. Lin, the old chief's tumor is very close to the heart control center of the brain. If it grows further, there's a risk of sudden cardiac arrest!"

"But if we proceed with brain tumor surgery..."

Tian Zhiyuan said with a face full of guilt, "Given the senior chief's current physical state, I am not confident of success. After much consideration, you are the only one who might succeed in removing the tumor with minimal surgical trauma!"

Looking at the CT images of the brain tumor on the tablet, Lin Jie fell into deep thought.

From a purely surgical perspective, removing this brain tumor isn't very difficult, but considering the old man's current worrying physical state and lingering inflammation, the tumor must be removed with minimal surgical trauma in the shortest ti possible, otherwise, he surely won't survive!

At this mont, everyone in the rest area stared at Lin Jie, not daring to cause the slightest disturbance.

After a long pause, Lin Jie looked up at the middle-aged man and said, "Sir, I need to have a private conversation with you and Professor Tian!"

The middle-aged man nodded, waved his hand, and said, "Please, follow !"

He personally opened a door, waited for Lin Jie and Tian Zhiyuan to enter, then casually closed the door and said, "Dr. Lin, speak freely. No one will eavesdrop here."

Lin Jie found this to be an exquisitely decorated bedroom, evidently ant for the patient's family to rest.

"Let outline my surgical plan..."

He showed the CT images of the brain to the middle-aged man and Tian Zhiyuan on the tablet, pointing at the image, "I will enter through the old chief's nasal cavity, pass through here and here to reach the tumor..."

Tian Zhiyuan's brows furrowed into a knot; he couldn't hold back and asked in confusion, "Dr. Lin, this route isn't the best surgical route for removing the tumor; it's quite a poor choice?"

Lin Jie glanced at him and said, "This surgical route doesn't require craniotomy and causes minimal surgical trauma to the patient. Moreover, I don't need to remove the entire tumor, just removing one-third of it will suffice."

The furrow in Tian Zhiyuan's brow deepened, and he remained visibly puzzled.

The middle-aged man said in a deep voice, "Dr. Lin, I am an outsider to dical expertise. Your surgical plan surely has its considerations; just state your purpose directly."

Lin Jie softly said, "Considering the old chief's age and physical condition, this surgical plan is currently the best solution I can think of."

"According to my plan, I am confident of completing the operation within three hours!"

Pointing at the tumor on the image, he explained, "Removing one-third of it will cause the remaining tumor to shift in this direction, away from the heart control center of the brain."

"Simultaneously, I will insert a radiation inhibitor here to slow the growth of the tumor. Under these circumstances, this brain tumor will not pose a lethal threat to the old chief within three years..."

Lin Jie looked into the middle-aged man's eyes and slowly said, "As for after three years..."

He stopped speaking at this point.

Lin Jie had gone through all the elderly man's examination data; it could be said that all his organs are in a degenerative state, almost like a dimming candle at the end of its wick.

This brain tumor not causing fatal harm within three years is already more than enough for this elderly man; it's like a barrel, just slightly longer than the shortest plank is sufficient.

The middle-aged man understood Lin Jie's aning; fully aware of his father's physical condition, he nodded slightly and turned to Tian Zhiyuan.

At this mont, Tian Zhiyuan also completely understood Lin Jie's intentions and admiringly said, "Dr. Lin is truly outstanding; his ideas are beyond the comprehension of ordinary people like us."

He looked at the middle-aged man and suggested, "Sir, this could be said to be the most suitable surgical plan for the old chief."

The middle-aged man imdiately decided, "Dr. Lin, execute your surgical plan, and feel free to let know if anything is needed!"

"Hmm, I need to rest for four hours to prepare for the surgery!" Lin Jie then looked at Tian Zhiyuan and unapologetically said, "You will be my surgical assistant."
