"Stop!"
As Jiang Nan was about to push the door open and rush into the operating room, Wang Mingli's eyes flashed with disgust, and he hurriedly shouted at her to stop.
"No matter who is performing surgery inside, if you rush in recklessly like this and disturb the doctor, who will take responsibility if a surgical accident occurs, you or the chief surgeon?"
Wang Mingli didn't conceal his anger at all and shouted, "Moreover, you're not wearing a sterile gown, nor have you taken any disinfectant asures. What if the patient gets infected, can you take responsibility for that?"
"You haven't put the safety of people's lives as your top priority."
"I assu you're so eager to claim credit that you've lost your judgnt entirely, which makes seriously question your competency and motives for your work!"
After rcilessly criticizing Jiang Nan, whose eyes were now reddened, Wang Mingli ignored her and continued, "Li Jie, write down what I just said and bring it up for discussion at Monday's eting."
Li Jie quietly glanced at Jiang Nan and softly responded, "Yes!"
Feeling better after venting, Wang Mingli turned and saw Jiang Feihang, looking anxious in front of the operating room, along with an elderly person.
Understanding that they were the patient's family, he was about to inquire when a hearty voice rang out, "Deputy Director Wang, I didn't expect you to co to the hospital for an inspection late at night!"
"I'm sorry for arriving late!"
Following the voice, Wang Mingli saw Tao Taqing striding forth with Chen Shi in tow.
His eyes narrowed as he pointed to the operating room door and coldly said, "My subordinate received a signed report that soone inside is performing an illegal operation on a patient."
"Vice Director Tao, are you aware of this?"
"Deputy Director Wang, you must be joking, right?"
Tao Taqing looked incredulous and said, "This is a hospital, what illegal operation are you referring to?"
"As far as I know, a craniotomy is being perford in that operating room by Dr. Chen Lan, who is a key young doctor independently qualified to operate at the hospital."
At this point, Jiang Nan suppressed her grievances and dissatisfaction and stepped forward to sternly say, "Her qualification doesn't an everyone else in the operating room is qualified! The report we received is absolutely true and credible."
"Vice Director Tao, I suggest you explain everything clearly. Otherwise, when we find concrete evidence, re 'explanation' won't settle the issue."
Tao Taqing frowned, gave Jiang Nan a cold glance, then turned back to Wang Mingli, saying calmly, "Deputy Director Wang, your subordinate is rather aggressive."
"I wasn't raised to be intimidated."
"Given the number of residents, intern doctors, and dical students, it's very normal for so unqualified interns and trainees to be present in the operating room."
"I can tell you clearly, there is indeed a trainee student in that operating room..."
Chen Shi picked up the conversation, angrily saying, "He is my graduate student, Lin Jie!"
"What, dical College students are not allowed to intern or observe in hospitals now, and that's considered illegal practice?"
Upon hearing the na "Lin Jie," Wang Mingli glanced at both Tao Taqing and Chen Shi, a look of realization crossing his eyes.
Before he could speak, Jiang Nan retorted, "Is it really just observation? I'd say he's the chief surgeon!"
"We all know Lin Jie has both the ability and the nerve."
Turning to face Wang Mingli, Jiang Nan said, "Sir, I was rash, it was my fault for not considering thoroughly. I request permission to change into sterilized scrubs and enter the operating room to verify if there's any illegal operation; we can see it clearly."
Wang Mingli snorted coldly, regretfully saying, "Jiang Nan, it seems you haven't realized your mistake yet! Didn't you hear what Vice Director Tao just said?"
"A craniotomy is being perford in there!"
"With your dical education background, you should know brain surgery is imnsely delicate, right?"
"Even if, as you suspect, Lin Jie is the lead surgeon, wouldn't he be nervous seeing us? And if at that mont, his hand shakes..."
Wang Mingli said earnestly, "We must always put the interests of the people first, especially when life and death are at stake, not the slightest carelessness is allowed."
He concluded decisively, "We'll conduct a thorough investigation after the surgery is over!"
"If there is illegal activity, we will leave no stone unturned!"
"Sir, this..." Jiang Nan exclaid discontentedly.
Wang Mingli waved his hand forcefully to silence her, saying, "That's decided, I'll bear all the responsibility."
He then asked, "Vice Director Tao, how much longer is the surgery expected to last?"
"The surgery is expected to take six hours, and only three hours have passed; it'll take about three more hours!" Tao Taqing answered leisurely.
Jiang Nan sarcastically remarked, "Vice Director Tao, I suppose the surveillance video inside the operating room is turned off, right?"
Tao Taqing chuckled and said, "Indeed, it's off! Donghua Hospital has surveillance caras in every operating room, but they're generally turned off!"
"Let educate you a bit, young fellow, about why the surveillance caras are off!"
With a didactic attitude, he said, "First, it's to avoid exposing patient privacy. Most patients are completely undressed during surgery, and it's likely they may unintentionally expose so private areas."
"Even without showing private parts, patients don't want their internal organs exposed for others to see."
"Second, many surgical techniques or procedures are confidential, which also counts as intellectual property."
"So, as long as either the patient or the chief surgeon objects, the surveillance won't be on."
"Typically, the chief surgeon would film a video for educational purposes or to improve their surgical skills through playback, but only with the patient's consent."
"Thank you for the explanation!"
Jiang Nan mocked, "I always thought it was because, in dical malpractice disputes, the hospital feared the surveillance footage might expose their own problems, fearing they'd lose the case, so they disallowed filming."
"After all, in a surgery lasting hours, a nitpicking lawyer could always find nurous unreasonable or noncompliant points."
Having said that, she turned and strode to the patient's waiting area, sitting down behind Wang Mingli.
As for the patient's family, Jiang Nan didn't bother to ask; she knew without solid evidence, asking would yield no information.
Thanks to Wang Mingli's decision, this matter seed to have temporarily passed.
After the surgery, Chen Lan would surely claim the surgery was perford solely by her, and Yang Jinglong and Zhang Daya wouldn't say much either.
Tao Taqing and Chen Shi exchanged a glance, seeing increased concern in each other's eyes.
Tonight's incident likely won't end so simply.
