It was in the evening when Xiang Wai ca back with Cloe and Cui Xukun. The latter had actually followed Cloe to her family house to et her family once. If nothing else, Cloe had to let them know that she was getting married and had to show them her marriage partner too.
When Raelle t and saw them, she couldn't tell how things went from their expressions. At least, Xiang Wai seed like she had a fun day. But that couldn't prove anything. So, when Cloe ca to brief about the work matter to Raelle, the latter asked her, "How was it? Seeing your family after all these months?"
"It wasn't anything special," was Cloe's response as she really thought there was nothing special about it. "Everything was exactly the sa. No one changed even a little. They still like to disgust with their ideas."
"Did they do sothing excessive?" questioned Raelle.
"They wouldn't dare do anything excessive after seeing the bodyguards you sent with . Besides, this ti Cui Xukun was also with . They won't dare touch like before."
Raelle agreed that only a fool would touch Cloe in such a situation. But she also knew what kind of a family Cloe had so she purposely left so bodyguards with her. "Did they have an argunt with you because of Cui Xukun?"
Cloe scratched her brow with her index finger as she sat down casually and answered, "How could they not argue? They seem to think that they could control . Since they have been losing control over , they have already picked a life partner for too. So, seeing the partner I chose for myself, they certainly weren't happy." Cloe shrugged nonchalantly, "But seeing them unhappy made really happy."
"As long as you are happy," said Raelle. "You are far out of their reach now. Don't worry about them. Don't be disappointed too."
"We get disappointed when we have expectations. I have long lost all expectation associated with my family." Cloe didn't look sad when she spoke of it and made Raelle relax too. She obviously did not want to see Cloe being entangled by her shaless family. She had seen what kind of people they were. And she had no good opinion of them. "By the way, do you want to know sothing funnier?"
"What?"
"That brother-in-law of mine actually looked at with disappointnt. He actually had the audacity to say that I let him down as if I betrayed him or sothing. That look on his face was so disgusting that I punched him. I'm pretty sure I broke his nose but I don't regret it at all."
"You an that ex-boyfriend of yours?" questioned Raelle. She also didn't think that soone could stoop so low. After doing all that to Cloe, he married her sister and was still trying to make Cloe guilty. What the hell was wrong with his brain? No, she doubted that he even had a brain. What a coward!
"Don't remind that he was my ex-boyfriend. It reminds how much of a blind fool I was back then. I can't bring myself to face my previous self who actually fell for him."
"Won often get confused by n who know to sweet-talk," comnted Raelle as if she knew all about this. As if she had a long experience. "And won who had been undermined by their own families all their lives are even easier to deceive. Such scumbags know how to see through won and how to control them too. Don't bla yourself. See? You weren't hopeless. Didn't you manage to grow out of it all and co out strong now?"
Cloe smiled at Raelle and said, "You are talking as if you know all about it."
"It's all about human psychology. Why else would I be able to understand it? Do you think I have t scumbags? No thanks. I don't want such an experience at all."

Cloe chuckled at Raelle's words, "Then should I believe that the reason you affird my work was to bring confidence."
Raelle looked up at her but didn't answer.
"You were clearly a person who had few words. But for so reason, from a certain day whenever I did a good job, you'd say 'Good!' Even if it was just one word, it was an affirmation of my work. How strange that I hadn't even noticed this detail before. You were clearly telling that I'm not useless and I have my own strengths."
"Have you forgotten how I made you cry?" reminded Raelle.
"You did nothing wrong at that ti too," replied Cloe. "It was my fault that I mixed up the data for our project which led to almost a big loss if not for your attentiveness. So, I deserved that. I was sad about it for a long ti but I was never mad at you for you. I have always been only mad at you when you made work overti."
"I think you are thinking too much. I had no noble intentions behind my actions."
"I would not believe that," replied Cloe. "You play a big role in what I have beco today. I am very happy that I t you as my boss."
"You have said it so many tis that I am tired of it now. Don't complint so much. I'm not flattered enough to lessen your burden. Don't forget that I'm going on a long honeymoon after this. You have a lot of work waiting for you."
Cloe's lips twitched and she felt like she just wasted her sentints on Raelle. This boss was as cruel as ever! How could she pity this employee of hers? She was really overthinking. She should be prepared for long working hours in the upcoming ti.
"It's okay. After you co back, I'll also go on a long vacation."
"Why? What's your reason?"
"I also have to get married and go on a honeymoon. Isn't that my right as well? Are you gonna take that right away from ?"
