Feeling the "Evil," "Cruel," "Brutality," and "Greed" components of the "Demon" tag, Feng Xue was in a particularly cheerful mood.
He had long heard that ambulances in the Columbia Federation were expensive and not covered by insurance. Now, seeing this tag, it really lived up to its reputation!
However, perhaps because fewer people recognized it, or because the terms composing the tag lacked fantastical elents like "Abyss," "Magic," or "Non-human Beings," Feng Xue didn’t obtain traditional demonic skills such as black magic, demon summoning, or space teleportation from the knowledge provided by the tag, but rather found things such as torturous interrogation and deceitful temptation—quite discordant.
Feng Xue wasn’t worried the tag would affect his personality. After all, the tags in Infinite City were sowhat different from the real innate Kaidan.
Simply put, an innate Kaidan is like a baby born with a tag, where all their views are ford based on the knowledge provided by the tag. Whatever tag they receive dictates their education, naturally shaping who they beco. In contrast, an acquired Kaidan receives the tag after adulthood, their views already well-established. Even if they receive a tag that does not match their personality, they have enough discernnt to not be easily twisted by the tag.
Finding no noteworthy skills, Feng Xue put aside the matter of the new tag and began to feel the amplification brought by the few elents.
Then, he discovered that the tag brought by this demon was much more useful than he had imagined.
Setting aside the elent "Evil" for the ti being, "Cruel" could diminish the influence of emotional fluctuations on his thinking capacity, acting like a lesser version of Iron Will, while "Brutality" was akin to a domineering aura, giving him a certain presence which, when actively released, could pressure others and unconsciously induce feelings of fear.
However, what pleased Feng Xue the most was the elent "Greed." It gave him an almost instinctual intuition for high-value items. Simply put, when making choices based solely on intuition, Feng Xue was more likely to pick the options that yielded higher profits.
Of course, because there were currently too few people providing cognition for the "Demon" tag, the amplifications brought by these elents could only be considered marginally better than none. But Feng Xue believed that with a little more effort, he could definitely unlock the full potential of this tag!
But for now...
Feng Xue turned his attention back to the books he had purchased that day.
A large stack of books had already been categorized by him. Six technical books and blank notebooks were placed together, whereas the narrative books were thoroughly dissected and categorized based on plot, sections, or the appearance of special items, forming seventy to eighty different combinations.
Feng Xue picked up a stapler and, with a few clicks, bound the separated pages together, then began his training for the day.
You should know, in the nearly three months since Feng Xue had crossed over, he had never been this rich before. The feeling of having accumulated a pile of boxes to open excited him a bit too much.
Fortunately, the power held by the "Cruel" elent quickly cald him down. After selecting for a while, he picked up a page detailing a certain boy’s undying ordeal of buying a magic wand and began to infuse tags—
"Tool, Weapon," he started with these two.
His hands lacked elents of magic or magic tricks, so the initial refinent had no intention of direct delivery. Rather, he preferred to destroy the Phantom Objects created by Refining, seeing if he could recycle any useful elents.
He carelessly infused so "Identity," a mysterious power then began to spiral together with the pages. Words seed to float out from the pages and then combined with the tags infused by Feng Xue, and after a few seconds, they transford into...
A black ball.
"Well, after having refined two good items previously, maintaining the balance is quite normal!" Feng Xue said casually, watching the black ball slowly disappear, then picking up a few more sets of pages to refine.
Another black ball. (Can you believe five consecutive black balls?)
The continuous appearance of black balls rapidly cooled down Feng Xue’s initial enthusiasm. He furrowed his brows and muttered:
"So many black balls? Really? Or is there sothing wrong with my Refining thod?"
Thinking about this, he felt that he might have accidentally triggered so special chanism. After pondering, he casually tore off a page, wrote "Fireball Scroll" on it, rolled it up, then threw it into the "Tool" tag, wanting to see if he had really accidentally fallen into a "can only produce black balls no matter how he refined" special rule.
But what surprised him this ti was that the rolled up note did not disappear; instead, it transford into a fist-sized...
Grenade.
"Damn... what’s the logic behind this?"
Feng Xue looked at the grenade, and it completely baffled him. However, considering that the thing was clearly a phantom object, he still cast the identification function of the Golden Finger on it—
Na: Phantom Object·Toy Grenade
Elents: [Tool], [Toy], [Fake], [Scaring]
Description: A high imitation toy said to be bought from a police equipnt museum store. Although it has no practical value, it seems to have the magical effect of being mistaken for the real deal.
Note: Throwing this might not make it explode, but it can cause a big lump on soone’s head.
...
"What’s this clownish object?" Feng Xue was instantly amused by it but thought it seed like a fun thing, so he imdiately hooked it onto his lower back.
With such an object coming out, Feng Xue also confird that his luck had indeed been terrible before. As each page turned into a Black Ball, Feng Xue was getting a bit numb.
He found that the failure rate of this thing was too high!
He tore an entire Harry Potter book into over a dozen pieces, and in the end, besides a fake grenade, there erged a Fatty Tongue Toffee which could make one’s tongue swell up to over four feet long for twenty-four hours.
Although this toffee could indeed be considered a Magic Item, Feng Xue still felt his luck was pretty bad.
He thought it might have sothing to do with the book itself, so he set the fairy tale aside and picked up an original book by Bruce Lee, "Jeet Kune Do," to start refining.
This ti his luck wasn’t too bad. As the [Tool] elents slowly dispersed, the book in his hands changed too, turning into a thread-bound book that looked very old.
"I’ve struck gold!" Feng Xue’s face imdiately lit up with excitent, just as he saw four big characters on the book, which suddenly confused him again.
It wasn’t that the book was so bizarre item, it actually had "Supre Martial Arts" written on the cover.
But honestly, who would label a secret manual of Supre Martial Arts with the words "Supre Martial Arts"?
"I have a bad feeling about this." Feng Xue pursed his lips, squinting his eyes as he aid accurately at the secret manual. The description appeared before his eyes—
Na: Phantom Object·Supre Martial Arts
Elents: [Martial Arts], [Secret Manual], [Tool], [Experience], [Mysterious], [Supre], [Strange Book]
Description: The index of Supre Martial Arts, containing Inner Strength, movent techniques, Absolute Skills, Fist and Palm, leg techniques, Finger Skill, Swordsmanship, Saber Technique, Long Weapons, Qin, Imperial Shooting, Soft Weapons, and Music. Each ti the book is browsed, the content changes, only by using a bookmark can the content be preserved.
Note: I looked at it for three years and trained for thirty years to reach my current realm...
(I pulled fifteen tis, thirteen tis were Black Balls, two tis sothing ca out, one was even a combo of [Toy] [Fake], so hilarious. It’s not suppressing the protagonist’s power...)
