"Complicated?"
Feng Xue repeated the Green Lantern’s choice of words with implied aning, and the Green Lantern seed to understand what Feng Xue ant, so they explained,
"I am one of the earliest Nothings in Infinite City. When I appeared here, there was no Babylon Tower, or rather, the Babylon Tower grew into what it is now under my watch, which is why I know so relatively hidden things."
As the Green Lantern finished speaking, Feng Xue realized for the first ti that because of the young appearance and the Green Lantern’s not-so-ancient and powerful status in the Kaidan of the Eastern Country, he had always overlooked the fact that Hundred Tales, an organization that had been entrenched here since the ergence of Infinite City, was among the earliest.
And as the core of Hundred Tales, the Green Lantern’s position in Infinite City was probably much more ancient than he had imagined.
Seeing that Feng Xue accepted her words, the Green Lantern did not continue but rather changed the subject, saying,
"Did you know? When I first appeared in Infinite City, people here were still speaking different languages."
"Different languages..." Feng Xue mulled over this, and couldn’t help but be reminded of the Tower of Babylon from the Old Testant of the Bible, his brow slowly furrowing:
"You’re not suggesting that this Babylon Tower is the legendary one...?"
"More or less." The Green Lantern threw out an ambiguous answer and, without waiting for Feng Xue to ask, explained,
"When Infinite City first began, it was a landfill that would continuously receive various kinds of trash, but trash also has its categories. In myth, the Babylon Tower, struck down by the gods and the Shared Language, abandoned by them, in a sense, could also be considered trash."
"But that’s just a mythical story, right? If it’s ford from that story into Kaidan... Oh, you an the Babylon Tower has tags like ’trash,’ ’scrap’? Feng Xue was about to say that such a level of fantasy couldn’t possibly be treated as trash, but then he thought of his own Golden Finger and imdiately caught on.
Pleased with Feng Xue’s understanding, the Green Lantern abandoned what she had planned to explain and continued,
"I rember it was probably around the seventies or eighties of the last century when an item that could probably be called ’Remains of the Babylon Tower’ appeared in the landfill on the east side of Infinite City, which is now the East Mountain District. But back then, there wasn’t a garbage mountain, and apart from being a bit large, it was not much different from a normal landfill.
"Although every Nothing wanted to make it their own, it was simply too large. So after everyone tried and found it impossible to move out of the landfill site, they gave up.
"You know about the decomposing ability of the landfill. After the day of garbage passed, only the foundation of the ruined tower was left and was decomposed by Infinite City. At that ti, everyone thought that was the end of it. But three days later, all Kaidan within the Babylon Tower shared a common language, and the central control building in the residential area also turned into the Babylon Tower we see now."
"So you an to say, Infinite City picked up the Babylon Tower as ’trash,’ and then ate it up? Isn’t that trash-picking ability a bit too strong?"
Feng Xue cracked a grin, unconsciously producing a bag of salt in his hand, while the Green Lantern, uncharacteristically, rolled her eyes and sighed,
"In fact, if you stay in Infinite City long enough, you’ll know that there is far more trash here than you can imagine, like those old fellows above the sixtieth floor, aren’t they also dug out from the trash heap of history by Infinite City?"
"Ah, this..." Feng Xue’s salt bag teleported from his right hand to his left, and he was flabbergasted. He had been wondering how behemoths like Seth, Cain, and Kukulcan, who had transford from Nothing to Kaidan, actually entered Infinite City. Now, it seed they might not even originate from this world’s Kaidan, but were conjured from forgotten information by Infinite City, which then absorbed this world’s Cognition for their resurrection.
But thinking about it that way, did the Secret Store’s so-called "Old God’s Legacy" also include the Old Gods themselves?
Watching Feng Xue’s astonished expression, the Green Lantern added with a sowhat lancholic tone,
"In fact, the reason why Hundred Tales set out on this path largely lies with these resurrected ancient Kaidan. It was the thod of their awakening that inspired us, who were still exploring the path of Kaidan, to attempt to impersonate and absorb existing Kaidan."
"Are you saying all this just to justify the actions of Hundred Tales?" Feng Xue raised an eyebrow, his tone slightly nuanced, as the Green Lantern naturally shook her head,
"How could it be? It’s only to help you comprehend what the situation is really like on the 121st floor."
"What do you an?" Feng Xue thought he might have missed so detail and quickly recalled the conversation but still didn’t discern any ntion of the 121st floor.
Seeing this, the Green Lantern had to suppress her riddler attribute and explain,
"The Tower of Babylon is a tower of man’s usurpation of divine power. Gods fear that n would obtain the sa power as theirs, so they shattered the tower and took away the Shared Language. So, what do you think the Tower of Babylon wants to do?"
"To reclaim the Shared Language... well, that’s already been done, so then, to take divine power? But isn’t Kaidan itself godly? Or are you saying that in its world, Yahweh has really beco a Kaidan?" Feng Xue’s face showed disbelief because in terms of the magnitude of Yahweh, it simply couldn’t...
Oh, right, if we’re talking about the era of the Babylon Tower, Yahweh might just be a Military God of small-scale faith, and in that case, it doesn’t seem impossible for it to have co into being...
But the Green Lantern sighed at Feng Xue’s obliviousness,
"It has nothing to do with Yahweh. After saying so much, haven’t you realized that the Babylon Tower was never actually completed?"
"Ah? Oh! You an that? So the 121st floor is for building or, rather, repairing the Babylon Tower? Then if the 121st floor is completed, will there be a 122nd? How long is this going to take?"
Feng Xue finally understood the Green Lantern’s point, but to gather more information, he still pretended to be a bit clueless. The Green Lantern looked at him with a flicker in her eyes, as if trying to discern whether Feng Xue was feigning ignorance, but ultimately gave up on this futile act and straightforwardly said,
"The height of the Tower of Babylon is aningless. Its very purpose of existence is to grant people the sa power as the gods. In a sense, the current process of ’Nothings’ accumulating Faith to beco ’Kaidan,’ is rely an interdiate stage toward this goal. Becoming a Layer Master is really about making it through the ’from Nothing to Kaidan, then to true existence’ journey. Once that process is complete, you can be regarded as a person and then, in your human form, seize divine power. The construction intent of the Tower of Babylon would then be fulfilled. Do you understand now?"
