Watching the popup that suddenly appeared in front of her, Feng Xue’s mouth twitched slightly. Although she had so understanding of the situation in this world, the sudden appearance of this thing was still sowhat unexpected.
"Originally thought it was a more retro mode, didn’t expect a void popup. Well, what else to do but choose ’yes’? Otherwise, how could an ordinary person like deal with a Pen Immortal?"
Feng Xue muttered to herself and imdiately selected ’yes’. Thus, the officials who had already entered the forced program intending to control Feng Xue to prevent self-harm, suddenly discovered that Feng Xue, who had been practicing calligraphy on the wall, had vanished without a trace.
"Quick, go and report to the captain, the target has beco a player! Hmm, it’s also possible that she was transferred by a Spiritual Body or directly eliminated..."
...
Feng Xue was unaware of the chaos at the Public Security Bureau. She just felt her body twist, and then a chanical voice rang in her ears—
"Congratulations on entering the Mysterious Ga, but to prove your qualification to join the ga, we have prepared a small test for you."
As the voice ended, Feng Xue’s vision restored, but at this mont, she was sitting at a round table surrounded by nine seats. Including herself, six were already occupied, with three still vacant.
Everyone’s complexion didn’t look great: so were pale, so were purplish, and even one looked as red as if they had been scalded in boiling water. Based on the previous popup, Feng Xue inferred that these people were probably possessed by a Spiritual Body.
However, Feng Xue soon noticed an exception—not because he didn’t look underworldly enough, but rather because his backdrop was different from the others.
Behind each seat was a door. Although there were subtle differences in their construction, all were wooden doors. But this man’s door was a security door.
As Feng Xue was lost in thought, people began to appear in the remaining three seats. Once all the chairs were filled, the man behind the security door clapped his hands to gather everyone’s attention and then said,
"Welco to the Mysterious Ga. I am the host of this ga; you can call KP. Your first ga, this newbie test, is very simple—survival."
"Let’s put the ga aside for a mont. I’m being haunted by a ghost, and I’m about to die. Can you help out first?"
Suddenly, a man with an ashen face in pain interrupted KP. KP heard this but showed an innocuous smile,
"Please rest assured, during the explanation phase before the ga starts, your ’partners’ are in a calm state and won’t harm you. Of course, once the ga starts, that’s another story."
As he spoke, the smile on his face beca increasingly exaggerated, so much so that it was horrifying. But just as his smiling face seed ready to open his jaws and bite off soone’s head at any mont, it returned to its harmless state and he softly continued,
"So, continuing our earlier topic, your objective in this ga is to survive here for three days. Behind each chair, there’s a door leading to the room you’ll live in for these days. Inside, there’s plenty of water and food, as well as various entertainnt facilities. In terms of supply reserves, they are enough for an adult to survive for more than a month."
Having said this, he scanned the room and, seeing no one interrupt, showed a slightly disappointed expression, but he continued to explain,
"Regarding your ’partners,’ there are also thods for dealing with them in these rooms. However, it’s unfortunate that those thods are intended to deal with other people’s partners. So if you want to survive safely, you’ll either need to work together to suppress everyone’s partners, or, help your partner move to another room. Well, that’s pretty much all I have to say, so, I wish you all, happy playing."
With that, the man stood up gracefully, his steps evenly asured as he walked over to the security door, turned to bow to the eight people at the round table, and then left behind only the crisp sound of the door closing.
A brief silence lingered for about three or four seconds before a woman in her thirties, with a rope around her neck, stood up and hurried into the room behind her.
The others didn’t react as violently but got up from their seats in sequence.
Feng Xue could clearly see that three people looked sowhat bewildered, as if they wanted to communicate, ask questions, but didn’t know how to start. However, she had no intention of staying and instead walked curiously toward her own door.
The door had no key but seed to have so kind of recognition function. It automatically opened as it detected Feng Xue approaching.
She walked into the room, looking at the not-too-large but well-appointed studio apartnt with an amused expression.
"Interesting, I thought this was another Infinite City scenario, but it turns out to be a Black Ball thing."
She muttered to herself in a voice no one could understand, starting to search the room as the host had ntioned. The facilities here were very complete, full of instant als and various fresh ingredients in the fridge, kitchenware of all kinds, entertainnt room, and gymnasium. The only drawback was the lack of a computer.
As for the "thods to deal with the partner" ntioned by the host, Feng Xue had found them too. But they weren’t techniques for eliminating ghosts; rather, they were rituals to detach the ghosts from their possessed state.
And...
"This one I have, is it for a drowned ghost?" She looked at the ritual written in beautiful handwriting, realizing most of the materials could be found within this suite. This made her begin to doubt the true nature of the ga.
Perhaps because she had read too many supernatural detective novels in her previous life, faced with this situation, her first thought wasn’t to follow the host’s plan, but rather to consider whether there might be hidden traps or criteria for passing the ga.
"Firstly, the host didn’t refer to the Spiritual Body as a Spiritual Body or ghost but called it a ’partner’. Does this imply that the ga requires cooperation between humans and ghosts?"
With that in mind, Feng Xue also recalled the conditions for entering the ga, which seed to be having a "Spiritual Body" and a "possessed object". This ant that the Spiritual Body in this "ga" was probably not just a danger but also a necessary elent.
So, what did the possessed object imply?
Feng Xue reached for the Expensive Steel Pen. This phantom pen, even after rough usage, showed no signs of wear, and even the cap, which should have been discarded, was back in its place.
However, she could clearly feel a peculiar sensation that beca restless the mont she uncapped the pen.
