Solving the mystery behind the pink-haired cardinal and his lackey could greatly help them in their crusade against the Cardinals. It would shed light on things they didn’t know about their enemy and earn them several steps ahead.

Chairman Mao, Shen Yuan and Bai Tingfeng are collectively satisfied with the good news.

Actually, Shen Yuan was excited to hear the details of the investigation. It’s just unfortunate that these two are not the right people to ask.

Yes, they helped quicken things up, but they don’t have any idea of the process and other interesting aspects of Xia Jinhai’s adventure.

Shen Yuan doesn’t want to admit it, but he actually missed that four-eyes!

"Thank you for helping us." Shen Yuan said his thanks instead. Without them, heaven knows how long it will take to unveil their enemies’ identities with limited support.

"There’s no need for thank you. We are simply helping out a country that shares the sa enemy as ours." Trystan Kingsley flippantly said with a sheepish smirk on his face— an expression that Shen Yuan was familiar with.

Park Eun-Kyung from Country S joined in with a smile, "It is true that the Cardinals’ threat extends internationally. Their activities are even present in our ho country. That’s why when I heard that Master Xia was investigating the mbers of the Cardinals, I didn’t think twice to help. I want the Cardinals to disappear in the face of the world."

Shen Yuan and Bai Tingfeng unconsciously smiled. Hell yes. They imagined the downfall of the Cardinals too many tis; they even lost count. Who would want to have a pest in their ho anyway?

"Indeed, fuck Cardinals. No one wants them to exist," Shen Yuan mischievously said. The little foxfire beast sitting on his shoulder even faced its butt to everyone as support to his master.

So people— like Director Song and Park Eun-Kyung— are shocked at Shen Yuan’s curse.

But Chairman Mao and the others maintained a passive reaction as they shared the sa sentints.

Shen Yuan just said it first, but if they beat the oga to it, they will probably hurl all available bad words in the dictionary at the Cardinals.

Chairman Mao cleared his throat, "I wonder about your country’s stance regarding our proposed alliance. I’ve seen reports. Our countries are tied in terms of the frequency of terrorist activities. Rising kidnapping cases in Country S and stolen resources in Country A. Your higher-ups know that joining an alliance is the best action a country can take if we want to stop an international terrorist like the Cardinals, right?"

Park Eun-Kyung and Trystan Kingsley exchanged looks at each other.

"The decision has already been made the mont I flew for this banquet. We will create the alliance with you." Park Eun-Kyung said without hesitation.

Trystan, on the other hand, seed to be imrsed in his thoughts for a few seconds before answering. "Our H.A. also decided to create the alliance with you. However, we have so conditions that need urgent attention."

"Is that it?" Chairman Mao asked. Of course, every deal has a set of conditions that are mutually agreed upon by the involved parties. That is always the case. He just doesn’t understand the hesitation that Trystan showed.

Chairman Mao rembered the word "urgent."

"Did sothing huge happen?"

Trystan dropped his usual playboy air and nodded his head somberly. "If you don’t mind. Can we take this conversation sowhere private?"

After half an hour of emptying his tear ducts, Mo Zhu finally returned to their table.

There, he saw his mother talking to other known people in the hunter world. He quietly sat on his seat but to his surprise, his mother quickly wrapped up her ongoing conversation and turned to him.

"At last, you returned," Mo Lihua said, slightly reprimanding. "Did you know that your uncle is looking for you? You missed him when he’s about to say sothing important to you!"

Mo Zhu slightly lowered his head due to guilt.

"I am sorry. What does uncle want?"

Mo Lihua sighed. She sensed her son’s sadness so she cald down. "He is worried at the growing closeness between Chairman Mao, the Wu and Bai family. He noticed the awkward position we have in that "friendship," and he is not happy about it."

Mo Zhu remained silent.

"Did you see Chairman Mao and the others?"

Mo Zhu shook his head.

"Then do you know where they are right now?"

"I don’t. I just ca back from the restroom." Mo Zhu answered his mother.

His obvious disinterest in speaking struck a nerve in Mo Lihua, and her temper imdiately flared up.

She gritted her teeth and said begrudgingly, "Do you see now what I am talking about? We are getting alienated! Chairman Mao and the others went to a private room to discuss the alliance. Your uncle went with them as a witness, but as for and you..."

Mo Lihua sighed, "It is understandable they didn’t include in the discussion since this is a governnt business, but you... You are the head of the Dungeon Managent Departnt, but they didn’t summon you to go with them! While Shen Yuan... That oga!"

Mo Zhu stared helplessly at his frustrated mother. "Dealing with international affairs is way beyond my jurisdiction, Mom. Don’t overthink things. Look at Admiral Wu, he is responsible for our international waters, yet he is over there, laughing with General Yang."

He pointed in the direction of the admiral who was high from both champagne and smoked salmon.

How great would it be if everyone could live a life without heartbreak, expectations, and obsession over power?

The tears Mo Zhu shed tonight made him lose his original sassiness and arrogance. He’s just tired— and surprisingly clearheaded.

He can see that his mother is burning up with competitiveness and this is her stubbornness and arrogance speaking.

"I don’t believe that Chairman Mao will not call if my expertise is needed."

Mo Lihua stared at his son, sharply.

"Sothing is wrong with you."

Mo Zhu sighed. "Mom, I am just tired."

Unfortunately for him, his dismissive tone only fueled Mo Lihua’s worry and curiosity. "What is it? What are you up to?"

"Nothing, Mom!" Mo Zhu couldn’t help but be slightly irritated at his nagging mother and to his surprise, Mo Lihua walked up to him and touched his face.

"Were you crying?" A mother’s pain upon seeing her child’s dried tears is one of the most inexplicable feelings in the world. At that mont, Mo Lihua’s heart is burning for her son’s pain.

"No!" Mo Zhu tried to gently push his mother away. He was being careful, but he didn’t expect that their push and pull would knock sothing out of his pocket.

Shocked and confused, Mo Zhu and Mo Lihua stared at the tiny, white, bottle. "Is that a heat inducer? Where did you get that illegal drug?!"

"That isn’t mine. I—" Mo Zhu was shaken to the core. His nervousness was obvious in his hushed voice.

How did that pill bottle end up in his pocket? He never took it from that woman, nor did he ask for it!

"You—" Mo Lihua quickly used her powers to pick the bottle up. She quickly hid it in her shawl. Her eyes flashed cunningly as she thought of sothing. "You will keep this a secret. You didn’t see any dicine pills of any kind, understand?"

"That is not mine!" Mo Zhu paused in shock when he sensed his mother’s malice. "Mom! What are you planning to do?"

"That doesn’t concern you, Zhu-er." Mo Lihua said firmly. "Your concern from now on was to make sure that once Chairman Mao asked you to join their discussion, you would be good and ready to enter their private room."

Knowing his mother, Mo Zhu had a good idea of what Mo Lihua was planning. "Mom, let’s just stop bothering Brother Tingfeng and Yuan. I’m sick and tired of hoping for the impossible to happen. I want to finally move on."

To say that Mo Lihua is shocked was an understatent. Her lips are agape, and her eyes are wide like saucers as they look at her maturing son. "You surely didn’t an that. You’ve been waiting for it for years."

"And that’s more reason for to let go. Years of waiting turned into a bitter, insufferable person. I want to break free from that weight."

Mo Lihua looked at her son’s tear-drenched eyes. She sighed and massaged her forehead, stressed.

"You’re too emotional, Zhu-er. Clearly, tonight isn’t your night. Go ho and rest for today. I will talk to Chairman Mao if ever he looks for you."

Mo Zhu wanted to go ho, yes. But he doesn’t want to do it now that he can sense that his mother will do sothing to avenge him. "Mom, you promised Brother Tingfeng that you will no longer ss with Shen Yuan. Imagine the consequence that we would bear if you ever used those pills on Brother Bai’s husband. He will declare war on us!"

Mo Lihua leaned towards her son and whispered through gritted teeth. "Control your voice, Mo Zhu! I will not be the one putting those pills, okay?!"

Mo Lihua then stood with her elegant back straight, "Shen Yuan has many enemies. Who knows if maybe there are others in the banquet hall who would love to drug him? Look, your uncle hated that many powerful individuals revolved around Shen Yuan. Soone must put him in place. That is what he said."
