Shen Yuan let Yanyan take care of Chairman Mao until the box of donuts last. He made it so that Mao Huanlong was too full to be angry with him.
Well, Yanyan also seed to be having a fair share of fun with the goofy old man so everything kind of worked out well in the end. Not to ntion his discontent also vanished upon seeing how genuine Chairman Mao’s care was for Yanyan.
’This human may have the accursed ability to pick the worst timing, but he really is a good guy,’ the celestial fox spirit thought. It was reassuring to know that Azure Dragon’s power landed on soone with an agreeable attitude.
The Azure Dragon’s power was too powerful that it would be a great pain in the ass if he ended up fighting against it.
"Yanyan, co here," Shen Yuan called his son after so ti.
Playti and petty revenge are over. It’s ti for the adults to do so business.
"Daddy and Grandpa Mao will discuss work. Would you mind if you watched your favorite show? It’s Huhu the Fox Adventure, right?"
Shen Yuan pulled out his phone and opened a video streaming app. His nimble fingers automatically went to the page where Yanyan’s favorite cartoon was playing. He also pulled up a wired earphone for the little boy to use.
Seeing his favorite cartoon character, Yanyan beca ecstatic, and he jumped from Chairman Mao’s lap without second thoughts. He even skipped rhythmically toward his dad.
’Silly boy,’ Shen Yuan smiled. As of now, Yanyan believes he is the only one who knows about his fox ears and tails. It’s the five-year-old’s pride to share secrets.
But what if he revealed to him that his Papa Bai Tingfeng also chipped in their cherished secret?
It makes him wonder how the child will react. For sure, Yanyan will show him the cutest reaction.
Shen Yuan was lost in his thoughts when strapping the earphones to his son, unaware that his movent scread tenderness to anyone who saw it. This directly applies to Chairman Mao who beca llow after spending ti with Yanyan.
Maybe now... He is not angry enough to cut Shen Yuan so slack?
’No! I should be strict as an elder! We are in Country C where filial piety is a big deal. It is wrong for Shen Yuan to raise his hand against his father!’ Chairman Mao insisted on himself, not knowing he was mistaken.
"Do your best, Daddy. I love you!" Yanyan waved his hands before running towards the couch and coffee table inconspicuously placed on the right side of the Chairman’s Office.
It was a guest reception area, but for now, it’s a makeshift little theater for Yanyan.
Seeing his son comfortably seated from a distance, Shen Yuan silently transford into his celestial fox. This action subsequently caused a portion of his mana to leak but the funny thing was at the exact mont it happened, Chairman Mao also released his S-Class energy.
"Oh my, is this a direct provocation, Chairman Mao?"
"N-no, I was just — how about you? Why are you releasing your energy?" Chairman Mao was also shocked at his reaction, so he tried to kick the ball of accusation at Shen Yuan.
"Nervous much?" Shen Yuan smirked. "I’m just trying to cast an illusion on my son. I don’t want him to hear things his innocent ears aren’t supposed to pick up. You know, I don’t trust my mouth whenever I’m with people I’m comfortable with."
As he spoke, Shen Yuan’s hand conjured a mass of mana— a physical manifestation of his spell— and he leisurely threw it toward Yanyan. It caused the surrounding area to sparkle, making it look like the couch and the table were bathed in glitter.
But the most curious thing was that Yanyan didn’t seem to notice this light show.
The boy’s senses were currently obscured so he wouldn’t hear or see anything happening around him.
"Oh," Chairman Mao was speechless. For the first ti, he— an S-Class veteran who was known for impeccable combat sense— misread the person before him. His old bones have no excuse this ti.
The celestial fox spirit sensed a major misunderstanding going on, so to put the other person at ease, he promptly tucked his fox ears and tails.
"Really though," Shen Yuan crossed his legs and looked at Chairman Mao intently. "What is up with you today? You’re hurting with this unfamiliarity. I thought we were closer than this."
"Hmp!" The elder alpha rolled his eyes. The oga youngster is joking with him which ans everything is good and well between them. "If you truly appreciate our closeness, then you should have focused on healing yourself like I told you to do. What is going on in your head and you beat the shit out of Shen Zhaohui? He is still your father!"
This ti, it was Shen Yuan’s turn to roll his eyes.
"Correction," He waved his index finger in front of the chairman as if he were speaking to soone his age. "I never raised my hand against Shen Zhaohui in every way you could imagine, Chairman Mao. Whatever you hear outside is fake news."
Chairman Mao was left gaping at the confident-bordering-onto-shaless oga.
"How could you say that when the news that a huge explosion was heard from the Shen Mansion when you visited it spread far and wide? It is known in our circle that after you left, Shen Zhaohui hurried to bring over awakened healers. They said his cheeks had bruises shaped like the map of Country C and Shen Linyu was almost in a coma due to ntal shock and blood loss."
Chairman Mao pointed at Shen Yuan like he was a hundred percent sure he did all of it.
Truthfully speaking, his assumptions are not entirely unfounded. The mont malicious accusations targeting Shen Yuan appeared, he imdiately mobilized his connections to investigate. Thus, he knew Shen Yuan’s half-brother, Shen Linyu was involved.
’Shen Yuan isn’t the kind of oga who silently takes the beating. He is vengeance personified. He would surely try to get back at this stupid half-brother of his.’
That is what Chairman Mao thought when he saw the report. He actually planned to straighten this discord without triggering Shen Yuan so as not to further damage the oga’s image. Unfortunately for his efforts, it is no longer usable because Shen Yuan beat him to it.
Talk about speed and efficiency. Shen Yuan is really good at revenge!
Now, all Chairman Mao could do was use his connections to impose a news embargo on yesterday’s incident. Add the Bai and Shen family’s influence. The commotion that happened yesterday afternoon never made it to any form of dia.
"Wow, this is more hurtful than mistaking my aggression," Shen Yuan crossed his legs which seed to have no end. The way he was seated looked like he was in a fashion magazine shoot. It screams sassiness, sexiness, and sophistication.
The celestial fox spirit’s attitude suggests that he doesn’t care whether the misunderstanding makes national headlines.
"I dropped by the Shens yesterday: fact. I blasted their state-of-the-art gate into a pool of molten tal: fact. However, I deny in the na of my sexy ass that I hit my dear father and that son of a gun brother of mine. I never touched them—not even the tip of their hair."
"Then who caused Shen Zhaohui and Shen Linyu’s injuries?"
Shen Yuan popped his chest up, looking smug. "I might not have done it myself but that doesn’t an others couldn’t do it for ."
Chairman Mao’s eyes beca slit. Shen Zhaohui and Shen Linyu have strong combat skills thanks to their respective awakened abilities, which ans their opponents are not simple trained bodyguards. They should have at least an ability of at least an A-Class.
’But who could they be?’ Chairman Mao wondered. Based on the information he got with great difficulty, Shen Yuan only ca with a driver and a few trained n of the Bai family.
’Bai Tingfeng and Rong Suyin are also said to have co but I could imagine them acting as referees...’
"My husband and father-in-law’s overprotectiveness makes feel flattered. It’s like they tell I am special without saying it. I feel treasured."
"You’ve got to be shitting this ti, Yuan," Chairman Mao asserted. Is this oga pulling his leg?
"Bai Tingfeng has the mildest temperant among the alphas I know. You can never convince that he hit Shen Zhaohui. He’s still his in-law—"
"Of course! Because he’s the culprit behind Shen Linyu’s blood loss. He almost had a misstep yesterday and almost killed that backstabbing douche with an aura-sword." Shen Yuan interrupted Mao Huanlong in a matter-of-factly attitude.
Chairman Mao finally saw the reason in Shen Yuan’s words. If Bai Tingfeng loved this cocky oga, it is natural for him to step up and protect Shen Yuan. Even he will hack soone with a blade if soone dares to unfairly put his husband at a disadvantage.
"But there’s no way Rong Suyin beats Shen Zhaohui in black and blue. Look at his slim, short body! That is not capable of punching an over six—foot alpha male!"
"Oh my. ’This-’ Shen Yuan faked a concerned face. "I’m warning you out of goodwill. Don’t ever say those words when my father-in-law is around. I don’t want to see you dropping to the ground like a ragdoll after receiving an uppercut."
Chairman Mao was rendered speechless.
"Are you—er, is that for real?"
Shen Yuan didn’t nod or shake his head. Instead, he just looked at him with a dead expression.
"My lips never had any filters, so you could assu that nasty things could co out at any minute. However, lies aren’t one of them, Chairman Mao."
"Oh, fuck," Mao Huanlong felt like he had just seen the end of the world unfold before him.
"My dear father-in-law tead up with Xiaohei and Xiaobai but even without them, my father never stood a chance against Rong Suyin," Shen Yuan’s lips stretched with a proud smile. "My husband’s oga dad is the real deal in close combat."
This ti around, everything started to slowly sink in for Chairman Mao.
It seems like he needs to treat ogas with more caution. There’s no telling if he’s dealing with a potential Shen Yuan-level hazard. Ogas of today’s society are freaking scary!
"So far..." He trailed off, seemingly in a daze. "I hadn’t done anything that would incur his anger right?"
Shen Yuan just shook his shoulder. "Now that everything is clear I could go now, right? FYI, my date flew out of my grasp because of you. I need to go early to chase after him."
