Taiyuan Ice Dungeon has two zones unofficially nad by the hunters who entered. First was the Hunting Ground, which covered most of the snowy dungeon. This zone stretches from the dungeon’s entrance, the vast snowy plains around it, to the pine forest and small ice hills.
It was called the Hunting Ground, not because of the fact this is the place where hunters hunt and slay dungeon monsters. Instead, this is the place where Yetis hunts for their food.
The sparse pine forest is the ho of critters that make up the diet of these furry giants.
The second zone is the settlent of the Yetis. It is located in the north-central part of the dungeon and is characterized by the clump of snowy hills. These bumps are actually the ho created by the Yetis.
They are a slightly unrefined and humongous version of an igloo.
Hunters typically avoid venturing into that deep part of the dungeon because of the dangerous consequences of disturbing the territorial yetis.
However, today was different from the usual days.
Qin Mian was treading the trail that’s commonly avoided by hunters with his nimble feet. His cute brown fox ears were twitching each ti he heard any sound of movent near him. There’s no room for error in this fan-mandated quest, or he would be a dead body.
Behind him was his friend Shaoran, following closely with his ninja-like movents. The cara never left the back of the alpha male so that the viewers could see the brown bushy fox tail swinging in the swift and powerful movent of the handso alpha male.
A great fraction of fans are sticking with him because of these monts.
Qin Mian himself couldn’t understand it. But it seems like people really have a penchant for good-looking fellows with animal ears and tails.
So far, not much has happened during their trip. All they t were small critters here and there in the woods, and once he was out of the shades of pine trees, what greeted him was a white expanse of white snow.
It was a relatively safe and uneventful— much to Qin Mian’s liking. However, he couldn’t deny that sothing inside him told him to make a U-turn and return to where he ca from.
That thought lingered in his mind until they reached the boundary of the two zones. Before he knew it, he got the point of no return.
[Waaaah! This is the first ti I felt excitent watching a live broadcast! Kudos to you, Daddy Mian!]
"Really? too! My palms and back are tingling now. Goodness! Will Shen Yuan manage to spot when I’m this far from the other hunters?" Qin Mian laughed off his nervousness.
[Of course! He’s an S-Class awakener for a reason, you know!]
[You can also run back once you lure enough Yetis. That way, Shen Yuan will spot you quicker.]
Qin Mian’s smile turned stiff. So, in the end, he still needs to do it?
The handso alpha strear embraced his fate by this ti, and with his light, nimble feet, he hopped towards the hills where Yetis lived.
"Is it just , or the snow is getting thicker in this part?" Qin Mian asked in a whispering voice. Yetis don’t have extraordinary hearing but are particularly sharp regarding signs of other species’ life in their environnt.
"No, it’s indeed getting thicker. Even with my lightness skill, I find it hard to walk on the snow."
[Waaah! Stay safe, the two of you!]
[What do you an the two of you? It’s just Qin Mian who needs to be careful! Ever heard of the saying that caran are immortal and invisible?]
Qin Mian saw this, and he instantly burst into laughter— albeit in a controlled volu. "Brother, my fans say you’re unkillable like a cockroach."
"That’s bull—" Shaoran wanted to curse but stopped in the last second because he rembered that doing so would cause their channel to be flagged by the platform.
Instead, he made a part of his face peek at the cara, "What he said was false, right? No one calls a cockroach in the chat, right?"
[NOO! Absolutely none!]
[Months of tuning in to Daddy Mian’s channel made sense that Mr Caraman is good-looking. The question is, is he alpha or beta.]
Shaoran was generally an introvert, but since he is an average human who feels flattered once praised, he suddenly felt energized. It’s close to the feeling of getting high.
"I will not clear any of your assumptions, but since I’m a good friend of your favorite host, I will flex my immortality as a caraman and walk before him," Shaoran said and started to walk carefully towards the snowy hills.
"Hey! This as—" Qin Mian called his friend. His voice was too low to be considered a call.
He opted to pick up the pace to keep up with his friend because they can’t be lenient as long as they are literally a few steps from the monster’s turf.
He was only more than a couple of ters away from his friend when his fox ears caught a clicking sound below his friend’s feet. His heart imdiately thundered as he felt a horrible feeling from it.
"Oh, shit! Run!" This ti, he scread.
Shaoran is also aware that sothing had gone terribly wrong when his feet pressed on sothing that was not the snow. In a split second, he used his superpowers to minimize his body’s weight and bolted towards his friend.
However, accidents are accidents for a reason. No matter how quick a person is to dodge it, its clutch is tighter than a deranged ex-lover. Accidents will follow the person desperately and passionately.
Boom!
A loud, resounding noise of explosion disturbed the initially quiet hills. The ground shook as if a giant awakened on the wrong side of the bed from a deep slumber. The snow was thrown everywhere, casting a mist-like effect hindering anyone’s sight.
"Fuck, bro! Are you okay?" Qin Mian asked his friend, who was now lying on top of him.
"Y-yeah?" Shaoran responded.
"Then, stand up! My thing is feeling your thing. It’s disgusting!" Qin Mian jokingly said.
With what happened, his nerves are still at their peak. How co there’s a landmine near the settlent of Yetis? Did the Hunter Association put it there ahead of ti?
These questions danced around his head, but he imdiately ruled it out. Explosives are not allowed inside the dungeon, so it doesn’t make sense if the H.A. will use them.
Then, is it another hunter who is far ahead of them, and they set up the trap? Qin Mian internally agreed with this one. This is the most plausible explanation for the trap.
However, he couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that soone was bold enough to bomb Yetis’ habitat! And he couldn’t think of how they managed to slip through in the strict inspection of the Hunter Association.
"Hey, Shaoran! What the hell? You’re not moving at all! Get off!" Qin Mian held onto his friend’s waist to shake his friend. He thought Shaoran must have dozed off because he flew through the explosion.
But when his hand touched his friend’s body, sothing warm and sticky was coating his hand.
"Holy shit! It’s blood!" He exclaid in panic when he checked his hand to see what that fluid was.
Qin Mian frantically yet carefully pushed his friend so that he could sit up and inspect the injury.
It was terrible, that’s all he could say. Shaoran’s armor had multiple damages.
He ran his fingers into one of the slits and felt sothing cut through his skin.
"Sharpnels?!" Qin Mian gasped as he recognized the foreign things embedded in his friend’s back.
It wasn’t a tal pellet; instead, it was sharp tal shards that were highly lethal!
"Mian, t-the cara. C-can you get it? I think I dropped it sowhere. I can’t feel my b-back," Shaoran was practically whimpering.
"Idiot! Why would you still think of the damned cara?! You’re—" Qin Mian choked. He felt like his heart was right up his neck because of the panic, fear, and despair he was feeling at the sa ti.
He was wildly looking around to calm himself when his eyes coincidentally landed on his broken cara.
Now, he’s regretting all the decisions that he made that brought them to this damned place. They wouldn’t be in this situation if he had only listened to his gut instinct!
"We need to get the hell out of this place! Just hold on, Shaoran," Qin Mian mustered all his strength and guided his friend to cling to his back for a piggyback. His hands trembled so much that he almost dropped his friend several tis.
"I’m sorry. Is that painful?"
"I-I can’t feel anything."
Qin Mian bit his lips and internally cursed, "Fuck!"
That’s terrible news! His friend needed imdiate dical attention.
However, the ground started shaking again before he could move away from the dangerous area. But this ti, it wasn’t due to an explosion.
Qin Mian would be calr if another landmine exploded, but no, it’s another piece of bad news for him and his friend. However, this ti, it’s terrible news of greater magnitude.
"Graaaaahh!"
"Graaaah!"
"Graaaah!"
It isn’t just one, two, or three Yeti’s that resurfaced due to the explosion. But instead, it’s a number far greater than that.
Qin Mian subconsciously gulped his saliva due to brewing tension. "Holy bitch, can I outrun these monsters? There are at least ten angry yetis!"
