Red Pool (SCP-354)

A regional module-type anomaly, immovable.

It periodically spawns monster entities (SCP-354-?).

The monster entities possess gene-level contaminative properties and exhibit innate hostility toward humans.

Through contact with bodily fluids, the entities invade and collapse human genetic structures, converting them into subsequent contamination sources.

This anomaly is tentatively classified as immune to destruction through conventional energy attacks.

While the blood-like liquid within the pool can be extracted, after pumping for three consecutive hours, the Red Pool's liquid level showed no signs of lowering.

It is impossible to determine whether the Red Pool continuously generates more of the liquid.

The depth of the pool is also difficult to ascertain. Due to the liquid's density, further descent becos impossible after a certain depth. An anomaly like this, if handled carelessly, could easily escalate into a global disaster.

No wonder it was reported directly to Haruto.

Seventeen hours had passed since the discovery of the Red Pool.

As recorded, a total of three monster entities had been ejected from the Red Pool.

The entities previously discovered near the pool were confird to be survivors of the northern country's crashed flight.

Moreover, it's impossible to distinguish the initial monster entities ejected from the Red Pool from those later transford from the survivors.

The two captured monster entities and the three converted investigation mbers were transported to the Foundation site for research in an attempt to repair their genetic chains.

During these seventeen hours, the SCP Foundation completed full scans of the surrounding forest area, ensuring that no entities had escaped.

At the sa ti, a 10-kiloter quarantine periter was established around the Red Pool.

An alloy wall was erected around the pool, completely sealing it off from the outside.

After hearing the report from the Foundation personnel, Haruto proceeded directly to the light containnt layer.

Here, five monster entities were completely restrained with carbon fiber chains.

Researchers ca and went, ignoring the terrifying roars and struggles of the creatures, thodically conducting various experints.

From ti to ti, they extracted tissue samples and genes from the entities for pharmaceutical testing.

Haruto watched for a while, then furrowed his brows.

These monsters—or rather, the agent that transford them—were far trickier than anticipated.

For now, it could be assud to be a virus.

This virus caused host mutation and hybridization with other biological genes,

granting the host a powerful physique and extraordinary regenerative ability.

Its regeneration even surpassed ghouls and titans. Tests showed that even severed limbs and split torsos could regenerate within seconds at horrifying speeds.

Furthermore, though slowly, the virus within these monsters continued to evolve at all tis, constantly breaking biological limits.

If not for the fact that the virus completely destroyed the host's self-awareness and reduced them to instinct-driven monsters, it would almost rival a standard version of the Blacklight Virus.

Haruto considered trying to use the Blacklight Virus to eliminate this unknown virus.

But after so thought, he abandoned the idea.

Among these five entities, three were forr Foundation investigators, while the other two were suspected flight survivors.

Although these individuals had turned into mindless monsters, there was still a chance to save them.

Using the Blacklight Virus recklessly, without experintation, would be irresponsible.

After understanding the situation of the entities,

Haruto prepared to head toward the Red Pool. But before that, another report ca in. After reviewing it, Haruto's brows knitted tightly.

The report stated that:

Among the D-Class personnel dispatched to conduct tests near the Red Pool, three individuals displayed abnormal symptoms of agitation, rage, and hysteria, well beyond normal ranges.

Upon deploying psionic-blocking alloy, their ntal states visibly deteriorated.

This indicated that the Red Pool possessed a psychic contamination property.

This discovery elevated the danger level of the Red Pool even further.

Upon receiving this report, the Foundation site imdiately deployed psionic-blocking alloy around the monster entities.

And—the mass of the alloy increased.

Although only to a minute degree detectable by ultra-precise instrunts, it still proved that:

Both the monsters ejected from the Red Pool and those infected after transformation shared the sa psychic contamination trait.

Though weak, the containnt chamber was urgently reinforced with an additional layer of psionic-blocking alloy.

All personnel involved in experints were equipped with small psionic-blocking alloy charms.

The alloy wall surrounding the Red Pool was also being upgraded with this alloy.

Clearly, the Red Pool (SCP-354) needed to be terminated as soon as possible.

The anomaly was too uncontrollable. If it ever broke containnt, it could lead to the apocalypse.

Even though the Foundation's containnt was airtight, it required a dedicated Mobile Task Force stationed near the anomaly at all tis and consud vast quantities of psionic-blocking alloy.

Psionic-blocking alloy was one of the Foundation's most precious resources, even more valuable than any rare mineral on Earth.

Despite the Foundation's wealth, they couldn't afford such reckless expenditures.

With that in mind, Haruto imdiately headed for the Red Pool area.

When Haruto arrived, the Red Pool was roiling violently.

A new monster entity was ejected from within.

This monster stood over four ters tall, weighing over 900 pounds.

Its appearance featured mammalian limbs but insectoid compound eyes, with four pairs of dragonfly-like wings on its back.

Upon being ejected from the pool, the creature spread its wings before even touching the ground.

After rely 1.3 seconds of acceleration, it broke the sound barrier, lunging toward the surrounding D-Class personnel.

Nine-Tailed Fox reacted instantly.

Since the target was airborne and moving too fast, the gravity guns were ineffective.

Thus, they directly switched to electromagnetic weaponry for high-intensity physical attacks.

The entity's torso, limbs, and wings were pierced mid-air.

Yet, it continued charging toward the D-Class personnel, while its wounds visibly regenerated at rapid speed.

Upon seeing this, Haruto flicked his hand.

A single drop of blood shot out and directly entered the monster's body.

The next mont, the creature froze mid-air and plumted straight to the ground.

Nine-Tailed Fox attempted to approach for containnt, but Haruto stopped them.

"Do not approach. All personnel, retreat to a 100-ter distance."

Upon hearing Haruto's order, all Nine-Tailed Fox mbers, including the D-Class, without a word of protest, imdiately withdrew to safety.

Haruto calmly watched the creature.

A few seconds later, the entity's body showed obvious signs of bloating and rejection. Its outer skin burst open, oozing fluid and chunks of flesh.

Seeing this, Haruto couldn't help but click his tongue.

Even the Blacklight Virus failed to instantly devour this unknown virus. Although the Blacklight Virus he used was a nerfed version under his control, even so, no virus had ever been able to resist it before.

After all, Haruto's Blacklight Virus was evolved to an absurd degree.

Surveying the situation, he ultimately gave up on fully unleashing the Blacklight Virus's restrictions.

Though controlled, there was no telling what unexpected consequences could arise from an evolution at stage 5.6.

With a snap of his fingers, the monster instantly exploded.

The Blacklight Virus launched a self-destructive assault—commonly known as "flipping the table."

Afterward, Haruto instructed Nine-Tailed Fox to remain on high alert, while the D-Class personnel were imdiately withdrawn.

The anomaly properties of the Red Pool had already been fully displayed on the system panel, virtually identical to current observations.

Continuing investigations would only needlessly waste D-Class resources.

And D-Class were still Foundation property—no need to squander them aninglessly. More importantly, at the mont the Red Pool ejected the entity, Haruto sensed faint spatial fluctuations at the pool's bottom.

Clearly, these monster entities did not form out of thin air, but were being thrown here from sowhere else.
