After returning to the lab, Nolan quickly pushed the earlier bet out of his mind. His attention was locked on the Beast, who was still secured to the operating table.
"So your so-called demon power only amounts to this much? What other magic can you perform?" Nolan asked.
Beast only glared at him silently.
He had just witnessed Nolan open a portal. This human had actually learned magic in such a short ti?
"By the way, the Hell Dinsion can also be used as a source of magic, right? Or at least, the magic you use should originate from the Hell Dinsion," Nolan continued.
Still, Beast said nothing.
"No response? Fine. I'll figure it out myself."
Now that he had exposure to the mystical side, Nolan had a much deeper understanding of supernatural forces. What he previously could only detect through high-level magnetic fields, he could now perceive directly through ditation, like the essence of demonic power.
"The sorcerers at Kamar-Taj probably don't only rely on the Vishanti. They must also tap into the power of other dinsions."
The key to using magic from other dinsions, Nolan knew, was locating the actual source of that power.
He recalled a spell he read in the Kamar-Taj library: the [Crimson Bands of Cyttorak], which harnessed the power of the Crimson Cosmos, ruled by Cyttorak, the sa being who empowered the Juggernaut.
"So, if I want to use Beast's magic, I'll need to locate the dinsion where his main body resides and then form a contract to borrow its power."
The first part was simple; he could just use the signature from the Beast embedded in Blacksky's mind to find the right dinsional frequency.
But the second part... that required Beast's cooperation.
"Don't bother," Beast finally spoke. "The mont you set foot in that dinsion, my true self will know what you're doing. There's no way he'll form a contract with you."
Nolan didn't reply.
The Ancient One had ntioned that once he mastered magic, he could use it as a lever to borrow power from hellish dinsions.
Now, he realized: Kamar-Taj's magic, granted by the Vishanti, might actually let him simulate the call of a dinsional worshiper without alerting the actual dinsional lord.
That had to be it.
That's why Kamar-Taj mages could borrow powers from terrifying dinsions like the Dark Dinsion or the Crimson Cosmos without suffering the usual costs.
They were faking it, pretending to be devoted followers just long enough to get a reply.
To powerful dinsional beings, whether you're a wild ant or a dosticated one doesn't really matter... unless they specifically co looking.
"Man... Vishanti really are incredible."
With this understanding, Nolan placed his hand on Blacksky's forehead.
He activated his sling ring.
Orange magical light surged forth like flowing water, washing over Blacksky's entire body and particularly concentrating around his mutated brain, the very spot where Beast's personality resided.
In the material world, this mystical intrusion had clear and quantifiable effects, even if Nolan hadn't figured out exactly how it worked yet.
Sensing this intrusion, Beast growled: "If my true self finds out what you're doing, he'll co and kill you! You're just a low-level superhuman stuck on Earth, and you're trying to steal my power?"
Nolan smirked. "Let him co. I'll gladly strap him to my operating table, too."
"I'm bored with researching you anyway. Studying the real thing sounds way more fun."
Earth-tier? Please.
Once he finished unlocking all the potential within his body, he would easily step into the half-Skyfather tier.
"And you're not even that powerful," Nolan added. "If you were, you wouldn't have had to sneak around to get here in the first place."
From his studies in the Kamar-Taj library, Nolan knew that the Ancient One's level of power stood roughly at Skyfather tier. Most dinsional lords, when projecting themselves into the physical realm, were heavily suppressedvbrought down to Skyfather, or even Earth-tier levels.
But the Ancient One, bolstered by the Ti Stone, was at least half a tier above them.
If any of these beings dared show up in person, they'd be shredded by her and her mystical wards.
Only a few dinsions, like the Dark Dinsion, Crimson Cosmos, or Hell Dinsion, had enough strange cosmic energy to resist that suppression and remain significant threats.
As for this "Beast"...
Even at full power, his true body was maybe half a Skyfather at most.
And as long as the Ancient One hadn't "retired" from Earth, Nolan didn't believe Beast would dare co here at all.
Beast fell silent. He could no longer bluff Nolan.
This human wasn't the sa as before. He couldn't be intimidated.
Nolan was one of the rare humans who'd left Earth and returned stronger. Even now, Earth still wasn't a safe place for demons, thanks to Kamar-Taj and the Vishanti, whose backing reached up into multiversal levels.
Unless a demon lord had backing from soone equally strong, they wouldn't dare challenge Earth head-on.
While Beast remained quiet, Nolan's brow arched.
He adjusted his brain's magnetic field to match that of the magic crystal he had been experinting with earlier. In his ditative state, he could now see a flickering spatial node, radiating an energy signature identical to Beast's.
"So this is where your true form lives?"
Nolan frowned. "I thought you were from the Hell Dinsion?"
Beast seed to sense sothing, too, and finally replied with a tone of defeat:
"The Hell Dinsion is vast. It's made of many layered sub-dinsions stacked together. The one you're sensing is just a single layer."
"There are 666 layers in total, each ruled by a different lord."
"I'm just a subordinate of one such lord."
"Oh..." Nolan muttered with disinterest. "I thought you were so bigshot. Turns out you're just so scrub."
Beast didn't respond.
But inside, he was reeling.
This guy's talent is terrifying... How is he already figuring out how to open interdinsional portals?
"So Earth really is... special, huh?" Nolan asked.
"I don't know the full details," Beast admitted, "but yes. Many demon lords have tried to interfere with Earth, but none of them dare co in person."
"Very interesting."
Nolan smirked. "Since you're being so cooperative, I guess I won't rip your soul out with a [Soul Extraction Spell]... for now."
Seeing that Nolan had already seen through all his bluffs, Beast didn't even bother posturing anymore.
