"Why are you looking at like that? You already know what I do, don't you?"

Feeling Alex's gaze on her, Catwoman's expression flickered with embarrassnt. Then she huffed softly, clearly deciding to stop pretending.

"Tell everything you know about this thing," Alex said flatly, not wasting any ti.

"What is this thing, exactly?" Catwoman's eyes lit up with interest.

Anything that could grab the attention of soone as powerful as this man had to be sothing extraordinary.

"Who's asking questions here, you or ?" Alex's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Fine, fine—no need to glare at like that," she muttered, pouting before quickly explaining, "I forgot the exact na of the place, but there's only one World War II morial Museum in Gotham. Pretty easy to find. I saw this piece there—it looked beautiful, artistic, you know? So I… well, you can guess the rest."

"The World War II morial?"

Alex's brow rose.

So this fragnt had been passed down since the Second World War?

And it was connected to it sohow?

"There's an interesting story behind it too," Catwoman continued, not waiting for Alex to ask.

"They say that during the war, on so battlefield—I don't rember the na, not that it matters—there was a woman clad in armor, wielding a sword and a shield. She helped turn the tide of battle."

"That woman, according to the legend, defeated a demon and vanquished evil itself. She was said to be the embodint of beauty, wisdom, and courage."

"And this fragnt here," Catwoman pointed at the shard on the table, "is supposedly a piece of her shield. It symbolizes wisdom, strength, and bravery. I thought it suited perfectly, so… I 'picked it up.'"

She grinned. "Pretty good story, right?"

A woman in armor, with a sword and a shield… during the Second World War?

Alex's brows knit tightly as his mind raced.

Then a spark of realization struck him—his eyes widened slightly.

Could that legendary woman be—Wonder Woman?

If his mory of Wonder Woman's story served correctly, her shield had indeed been shattered during her battle with Ares, the God of War.

The tiline matched perfectly.

And in Wonder Woman 1984, she no longer carried a shield at all.

Holy hell…

Could this fragnt actually be a piece of Wonder Woman's shield?

But then again, in Batman v Superman and Justice League, her shield appeared intact once more.

Did she gather the fragnts and reforge it?

Or simply take a new one from Themyscira?

Alex couldn't be sure.

"Were there any other fragnts like this at that museum?" he asked, setting aside his thoughts and fixing his sharp gaze back on Catwoman.

"Nope," Catwoman shook her head. "Just that one. And I 'found' it first."

Alex fell silent. He wasn't surprised.

So luck wasn't entirely on his side this ti—he couldn't expect to get everything he wanted in one go.

"I'll be keeping this," Alex said casually, pocketing the shard. "Consider it your punishnt for trespassing."

"I knew it," Catwoman muttered, rolling her eyes. She pouted but didn't dare complain further.

"Once we finish eating, you can leave," Alex added.

"Huh?"

Catwoman froze.

Wait—wasn't she supposed to be his servant now?

He was letting her go?

"What's with that look? If you really want to stay and be my maid, I'm not opposed. In fact, I'd welco it."

Alex smirked.

"Ha! Like hell I'd be your maid!" Catwoman shot back, instantly getting to her feet and backing away carefully.

But to her surprise, Alex made no move to stop her.

Then began her little performance—one step, two steps, three steps…

Her light steps were so delicate she might as well have been walking a runway.

When she'd backed away more than ten ters and Alex still didn't react, she hesitated only for a mont before bolting.

Still, as she disappeared from sight, a strange feeling flickered in her heart—a faint trace of… disappointnt.

Was he really just letting her go?

Had she lost her charm or sothing?

anwhile, while Alex and Catwoman were having dinner, Batman stood atop an empty rooftop, facing Detective Gordon.

Yes—Detective.

At this stage, Jas Gordon had not yet beco Commissioner.

But he was already one of the few people Batman trusted.

"Tell you didn't kill those people, Batman," Gordon said, his eyes hard as steel.

Deep down, he didn't believe Batman was the murderer—but the case was too serious. He needed to hear it straight from the source.

"It wasn't ," Batman said firmly.

Gordon exhaled quietly, relief washing through him.

Gotham was already rotten to the core. The last thing he wanted was for its only symbol of justice to fall.

"But your batarang was found at the scene. You were there."

"Yes," Batman admitted. "I went there to stop a cri—like I've done countless tis this past half year."

"Those four victims were mugging a young man. What no one expected… was that they'd tried to rob a demon."

Batman's tone darkened as he described the scene.

"So that young man killed them all?" Gordon asked after a pause.

"That's right," Batman nodded. "He was terrifying. When he killed, there wasn't a trace of emotion in his eyes—just pure, icy indifference. As if human life ant nothing to him."

"Describe him," Gordon said, taking out his notebook.

"He's Asian. About twenty-six or twenty-seven. Not a local—his accent gave that away. Wore designer brands, so he's definitely well-off. Around one-eighty tall, fit build, refined features…"

"He possesses imnse strength and speed—he lifted a two-hundred-pound man with one hand, effortlessly."

Batman recited Alex's characteristics in detail.

Gordon jotted everything down, then nodded firmly. "Got it. I'll find him."

With a faint rustle of his cape, Batman turned away.

And before Gordon could say another word—

Whoosh!

He leapt off the rooftop and vanished into the darkness below.
