Rebekah might not have dared to attack Alex…

But that didn't an Alex would let her walk away.

He'd already killed Niklaus and Elijah—two of the three Originals. Leaving the last one alive?

That wasn't just sloppy.

That was an invitation for future vengeance.

Even if Rebekah wasn't a threat right now—she wasn't as unhinged as Niklaus, nor as composed and dangerous as Elijah—she was still a Mikaelson.

And in Alex's eyes, she was little more than a buzzing insect.

And flies… can still bite.

So he decided: he might as well swat this one too.

Hmm—

His eyes began to glow red, crackling with energy.

---

"Enough!"

The sharp bark of Aro's voice cracked across the chamber, breaking the charged silence.

It wasn't a request.

It was a command—one that dripped with desperate control.

For the first ti in centuries, the Volturi leader had to intervene.

Because now… it was his ss, too.

He'd supported Niklaus monts ago. Had allowed this descent into chaos.

Had stood back as Niklaus tried to "restore order."

If he'd sided with Elijah instead, perhaps things might have stopped before the massacre began.

But now?

With two of the Originals dead, Aro understood the stakes had changed.

If he let Alex kill Rebekah here—right after he spoke up—then the Volturi would beco accessories to the total annihilation of the Mikaelsons.

No clan would ever forget that.

No one would fear the Volturi again.

This wasn't just about politics anymore.

It was about survival.

"Niklaus was out of line. But he's already dead. You've killed Elijah too. That should satisfy you."

Aro's voice was level, almost judicial—like a king trying to sound magnanimous after a riot in his court.

But his fingers twitched slightly beneath his sleeves.

---

Haaah—

Rebekah exhaled a shaky breath she didn't realize she'd been holding.

Her knees trembled. Her entire body felt like glass under a giant's heel.

She'd frozen the mont Alex's burning red gaze turned on her, convinced death was imminent.

Those beams had decapitated Niklaus like paper under scissors.

She wouldn't stand a chance.

Thank God for Aro.

Maybe… just maybe… this nightmare was over.

---

Zzzzt!

The heat vision flared to life again.

Alex didn't even glance at Aro.

He simply fired.

FWOOSH—

BOOM!

Rebekah's head vaporized in a single flash—disintegrated before it hit the ground.

Thud.

Her headless body crumpled lifelessly beside her brothers.

---

The impact on the hall was imdiate.

Even though the sound of the body hitting the floor was soft…

…it landed like a war drum in the ears of everyone present.

The silence that followed was different.

It wasn't the stunned hush of disbelief.

It was terror.

Raw. Primal. Suffocating.

Because Alex had just done the unthinkable.

He had defied Aro.

Openly. Unapologetically.

He'd ignored a direct command from the King of the Vampire World—and responded with blood.

If refusing Aro's handshake earlier had been a slap in the face…

…this was a steel boot to the jaw.

A direct challenge to the Volturi.

A declaration that no one—not even Aro—could control him.

---

Every head in the hall turned toward Aro.

Waiting.

Would he retaliate?

Would he lash out?

Would the Volturi move?

For the first ti in living mory, the great and composed Aro… twitched.

His eyes narrowed. His fingers curled slightly.

And on his left, Jane, the most sadistic of his guards, moved.

---

"Agony."

Her whisper was deadly, soft as silk and sharper than razors.

Her power—The Burning—was one of the Volturi's most feared weapons. No defenses, no warning, no resistance.

Just pain.

Unbearable, unending ntal tornt.

It bypassed flesh and bones entirely.

Even the strongest Supres had collapsed under it.

And now, she sent that force—swift and rciless—straight at Alex.

---

And Alex… felt it.

For the first ti that day, sothing touched him.

A strange, slithering pressure entered his mind—a dark, coiling strand of invisible agony, latching onto his consciousness.

In the past, that would've been enough.

ntal powers existed on a plane even Alex couldn't punch.

But now?

Now his mind had been altered—reforged—by the Sacred Stone's energy.

What Jane sent… he saw.

Not taphorically. Not figuratively.

He literally saw the tendril invading his mind.

And crushed it.

A brilliant surge of blue psychic energy erupted inside his consciousness like lightning—obliterating Jane's attack like paper in a wildfire.

---

"'Agony'?"

Alex's voice was amused now.

He tilted his head slightly, lips curling into a dark smirk.

"You're right. You will feel agony."

He took a step forward.

"But not . You."

---

"W-What?!"

Jane's voice trembled for the first ti in centuries.

Her eyes bulged.

Her power had failed?!

The one ability that had never let her down—deflected like an annoying fly?

How?!

---

Zzzzt!

Alex's eyes flashed again.

Twin heat beams scread toward her position.

"NO—!"

Jane dove out of the way, all elegance forgotten.

She hit the floor and rolled—graceless, wild.

BOOM!

The spot where she'd stood exploded into molten rubble.

Chunks of marble, scorched curtains, and flaming embers scattered through the air.

---

But Jane wasn't an ordinary vampire.

As a mber of the Volturi Guard, her reflexes were legendary.

She flipped backward, recovering in an instant.

But—

CRACK!

A sonic boom exploded.

A blur shot forward.

Alex appeared in front of her before she could blink.

Her red eyes widened—

Too late.

His hand wrapped around her throat like a steel band.

---

"Jane!"

Aro's mask cracked.

His voice rose—not with command, but panic.

"Release her! Let this end here, or I swear—"

---

Splat.

Jane's head exploded in his grasp.

Aro didn't finish his sentence.
